I don't really know other reasons than being tourists and soldiers on top of those ones to do it (track another species, work with them, go against them or get something from them) from way more advanced civilications. I beleave there is most likely multiple differend species with differend interest levels on us that can do interstellar travel. If that is the case you kinda have to think that those species who are there and are in close contact have made certain type of rules and alliances. They have to have somekinda agreed upon systems in place so it's not unneccesary hostility when they come in contact with other way older species. Especially the oldest ones who would have the upperhand to reprimand would most likely have the overpowered tech and be evolutionary became smart enough to see that violence usually makes problems. I still wouldn't trust every species to be just altruistic and not take benefit from us if they can and especially need or if being conquering ones is just inherently very deep in their nature.
