I’m a construction worker in city, worked thru hole pandemic. Didn’t get that free 1200 a week. And since all this started last year work has been taking away from use because the cut road mileage on milling and paving because there using money to feed and house and give free money to migrants. I’ve been laid off and have no work. I don’t get free anything? I feel my life is being destroyed over this. It’s not fair. They just all received prepaid cards with over a thousand each. It’s wrong I’m an independent voter and just feel this hole thing isn’t right. I have kids and a family was born and raised here been paying taxes since I was 14 at my 1st job. You should be blaming the Texas government for doing state sanctioned human trafficking then and not the migrants. They’re doing this on purpose to get people to vote a certain way - it’s clearly obvious. Sadly we don’t have democrats who want to fix this problem but voting Republican certainly will never get this fixed.

Hey Tommy! Dutch guy here, thanks for mentioning us 😂 . The Bronx was named after Jonas Bronck, not a Dutch guy but a Swede who sold his piece of land that was to become the Bronx (or the Broncks' land). Brooklyn however does get it's name from the Dutch as it's named after Breukelen, a small town between Utrecht and Amsterdam. Same goes for Harlem which is named after the city of Haarlem... and that's about all I know 😅

@@OurSpaceshipEarth well, yes, but to be exact, the man who coined the word “apartheid” was an Afrikaner clergyman of the Gereformeerde Nederduitse Kerk (Dutch Reformed Church), Jan Christoffel du Plessis. It was originally a theological term. Not a political one. Du Plessis was a missionary who worked closely with black members of the Dutch Reformed Church in the Orange Free State province. He was disillusioned with the way most white clergymen encouraged Africans to give up their culture and adopt European lifestyles and habits. In a 1929 manifesto, du Plessis successfully proposed the church adopt a new policy, which he called “apartheid”.

As a New Yorker, I enjoyed watching. My great grandparents came from Ireland to New York for the same reason immigrants come today. There are some significant differences though: 1) there was no welfare state 2) everyone had to be checked at Ellis Island: their health, background, etc. 3) people had to assimilate. What the US is currently doing by providing free everything including interpreters at schools, by turning a blind eye to criminality, and ignoring its own citizens needs will have massive consequences. NYC is broke. We’re in an unsustainable downward spiral. If the stock market crashes and the housing bubble bursts things will get REALLY ugly and fast.

Not having a welfare state is a huge difference. Also there was the industrial revolution where there were many jobs. During the civil war the Irish would get off the boat and immediately conscripted into the Union army. And having similar values is important as well. For the most part America is probably lucky most migrants come from Latin America, who are mostly Christian or Catholic. Europe is dealing with a lot of Muslims migrating….who don’t have similar western views/values.

Excellent points above. It would be great to see a well researched unbiased documentary on how the conditions changed over the years. It is nice to see authentic boots on the ground reporting. As a country we were able to generate enormous wealth and power which for a several decades masked the uglier sides of life that are our heritage. The challenge now is with such a massive deficit we need to be 😅very careful and tactical with subsidies. People find a way to survive thru grit and luck.

You don't want to hear that because you know it's 100% correct. Had the many Native American tribes, and natives of Pacific Islands taken a similar stance the entire world would look much different. Had they taken a similar stance millions of people would not have been stolen from the continent of Africa, and forced into a lifetime of painful servitude. So much hinges on that one simple act of welcoming in fugitives from another land. Native Americans extended grace, and acceptance to people who would not do the same for them.

@@reaktii America is finished. There's an enormous difference between the kinds of change that is happening now (for the last few decades, really since 1965 but it's been on overdrive for the last 10+ years) as well as the RATE at which it's happening, and the way that things happened in the past. For example, the US enacted an effective pause on immigration from 1924 until 1965, to reduce the amounts of low skilled immigrants showing up and to allow things to settle and for people to assimilate into American society. The number of people coming over the last decade is not only unsustainable financially/resources-wise with housing and everything but it's also unsustainable from an assimilation standpoint, the people who are coming in are wildly different and from cultures which aren't compatible with western values. Keep ignoring this at your own peril.

Exactly, the audacity and ungrateful behavior is a slap on our face. I wonder why the Democrats are encouraging this, how sinister do their motives have to be for this to be okay.

Dutch here.. 🇳🇱 Guilders (in Dutch: gulden) is the pre-Euro currency. Some more names that were introduced during that time: Brooklyn (Breukelen) Harlem (Haarlem) New York was traded for Surinam (South America) with the English. I like the perspective you get by being able to approach different nationalities in their own language. Without that it would have been even harder to get any interviews. I've travelled quite a bit but never have I seen a subway rougher than NYC. Must have taken a lot of corruption. And the public space is so loud!

Tommy, been a long time fan of yours! As someone who grew up in LI, I totally get the Hempstead reference. I was curious how a world traveler like yourself would do a vid on NYC? Very informative, non biased, entertaining, with great interviews as always. Keep the content going! The day you start slipping, I will send you some Mets tickets!

It blows me away. When my job went overseas in 2008 when everything took a dump. No organization would help me to get retrained. I was a textbook designer/illustrator and the art jobs dried up. So, long story short I had to take out 35k in loans to get retrained to become a maintenance mechanic. I can guarantee you that many of these illegals will end up getting free food, housing, and be able to learn a trade on the U.S taxpayer's dime. It sure doesn't seem fair.

Then stop voting Democrat it's very easy to rectify the situation, these people are not asylum seekers and they're using our weak liberal laws to their advantage, the reason I lean towards the center and to the right is because I want less government involvement and lower taxes. The radical left in the liberals want to take money from hard-working Americans by increased taxes and fund programs like the shit you're seeing today. They want to tell you to allow illegal immigrants to live for free they want to tell you that you have to buy an electric car, and they want to tell you it's okay to have a $50 an hour minimum wage which will make your McDonald's Big Mac meal $30. The radical left is only for the wealthy and they lie and say that they are not

@@trilithon108nope American homelessness and the homeless veterans that serve for our country have to get to the back of the line, they want the desperate illegal immigrants to infiltrate our country so that all the big corporations can hire them at slave wages and make them work 80 hours a week so that their publicly traded companies have higher stock ratings

They break our laws to come here, live off our tax dollars, but the entitlement here and the hostility to any questions...they feel like we owe them this and can't have any questions? When my family immigrated we got no help and were still more grateful, seems like the more help they get the less respect they have for us or our country.
