my agony continues, i want to hear the bass, it makes me sad. i'll have to make do with excellent guitar and keys playing. "There will be other lips that I may kiss, But they wont thrill me, Like yours used to do. Yes, I may dream a million dreams, But how can they come true, If there will never, ever be another you?" nat king cole is amazing!!!

I appreciate the attitude these guys have toward one another. How they play off each other's energy is captivating. The way the pianist gave it to the guitarist at the end put a smile on my face.

I've been a Billy Taylor fan for a long time...he's just superb. This is my first time listening to Russell Malone and he too is outstanding. I love the single note improvising...reminds me of Joe Pass.

He's wonderful, isn't he? And plays so CLEANly. I found him about 15 years ago on Diana Krall's album "When I Look in Your Eyes," and it's worth the price just to hear him.

"There will never be another you" (Nunca habrá nadie como tú) una hermoso tema interpretado en el más puro jazz, por el Billy Taylor Trío con un invitado de lujo; el guitarrista Russell Malone , Chip Jackson en bajo y Winard Harper en batería. El Dr. Billy Taylor es un pianista eximio y demuestra aquí lo que es el buen Jazz.

@dtetreault The downstroke is typical of gypsy jazz guitar playing (in the style of Django Reinhardt). I was surprised to see him do it as well. It produces a unique sound. He wasn't using the "full bag" of either the bebop or manouche tools, but yet his playing was still marvelous!

Great music making! Would love to hear them do more to make it their own though rather than just run through the motions. When trading 4s they started to show some signs of that. I guess it's the nature of televised performances like this.

Right hand technique: At first I thought he was using the 'Benson' method with hand parallel to strings with little or no wrist movement, but it only appears that the position is similar, but execution is different. Any guitarists out there to clarify this for me? Santana also uses the same 'under the strings' position, but I can't seem to make it work for me. This position always seems to get amazing articulation with alot of picking economy....

Did you see that his picking is all downstrokes? That must because of learning the Wes thumb style.
@Marmelademeister5 жыл бұрын
ianadels Not all downstrokes, but Russell Malone uses them a lot. His styleis very unique. He is mostly self-taught.
