I got chills when Tamera started preaching at 3:25. People... don't be foolish. Don't be so wrapped up in the passion and aesthetics of your romance that you forget to protect yourself. You don't get pre-nups to prepare for divorce, you get pre-nups to prevent your life from getting ruined. People can turn on you in ways unimaginable. I mean, just look at people who murder their spouses for insurance money. You think she would've married him knowing he was that type of guy?? Like Jeannie said, a prenup protects your family, not just you. It also makes for a much, MUCH less stressful experience should a divorce ever occur. I think pre-nups are VERY smart things. My uncle (who is a high ranking officer and shareholder for a Fortune 500 company) and his wife did not get a pre-nup prior to their marriage. It turned out to be an all out war in the courts and guess who got half of his hard earned money. She did. A person not signing a prenup doesn’t mean they are out for money. It can depend on the terms of the prenup. And Tamera is right about people turning crazy and pretty much unrecognizable. It’s not planning for a divorce... It’s the acknowledgment of the reality that at this time as much as we want to be together and PLAN to stay together BUT anything could happen. But there a lot of women and men who ended up regretting that decision because like Tamar said, people become unrecognizable in the even of a break-up. They will turn into an alien that makes you wonder if you ever even knew them. Men can become abusive after they become married. Divorce not being an option no matter what sounds like the fantasy of a child still believing in fairy tales. There are always exceptions to every rule. I happen to subscribe to the idea of marriage not being an option except in the case of domestic violence, child abuse, i find out he's a pedophile, he cheats on me regularly(with women young enough to be his daughter, are underage, my sister/family member) is a rapist, becomes a murderer or develops an addiction that it takes over his life and ruins the family such as gambling the family's saving and money meant for the kids. I will divorce a man under those circumstances. Period. And if i had a prenup, there will be stipulations in that contract that if we divorce because of those reasons, he will get nothing from me, i will get primary custody if we have children. Obviously, i get full custody if the divorce is because he is a pedophile/rapist. A prenup is there to protect me and the family we build together. Planning for a divorce is what wise people do because they understand that things can happen and people do change. It's someone willing to deal with reality. Stubbornly refusing to divorce a man who is abusing you, abusing your children and/or financially ruining your family because you don't want to be that woman who gets a divorce and want to stay married no matter what is a sign of foolishness and a selfish mind. And sadly, there are many men and women like this. We all hope for a relationship where both parties a fully committed to the growth and nourishment of the family and marriage. You keep your end of the bargain and he keeps his and doesn't do things to ruin what you've built together. That's amazing. I wish everyone this. But simple statistics and logic dictates things can happen and smart people prepare for it.

The people who saying that pre nups are a bad idea and divorce is not an option sound foolish. Divorce always an option cause one person can't hold it together if the other want one. Know this couple marry 30 years. The woman got sick of him. You can't make someone stay if they don't want. People are unpredictable. It like being on a ship. It be foolish not to have a lifeboat ready. You hoping you don't drown but never say never.

this may have been one of the best discussions they've had. they were all talking from experience, and instead of shaming each other for their opinions, they were genuinely trying to help each other understand, and to learn from each other this felt like what i always hoped the show would be. like getting advice from an older sister. i'm nowhere near getting married but i'd sure as hell like some insight for the future

I agree with the most get a prenup. I feel like divorce should always be the last option but I also feel like it is just being smart. Because when I was younger I like different things now that I'm older I like different things and unfortunately ppl do go apart in this life. Thats the real. Adrienne says Nick Cannon didn't contribute to Mariah success. Nick Cannon has helped Mariah tremendously. First of all: this is no shade, but Mariah needs constant worschipping, Nick was there and gave her all the love and attention she needed. Mariah doesn't seem to be a simple person to please. She loves to be drama and to be in the center of everything. But Adrienne says Nick Cannon shouldn't benefit from Mariah wealth. Just by putting up with Mariah lifestyle I would give him 1 million dollars. If it would be the other way around. Meaning: Nick has 500 million and Mariah 20 million. Then they would say that Mariah has created and contributed to the success of Nick and that she would need to get a couple millions. I call this discrimination at its finest. If a male millionaire would marry a women that doesn't work and just be beautiful and spend his money. 2 years later the husband would become 20 million richer and 1 year later they would devorce. The women would milk him dry and says she invested in the marriage. That's how I see it. The women has all the money and the man is broke. Therefore a prenup is one of the best things there is. If I would win a couple millions I would/will make a prenup one day and when I would go on a date. I would mention the prenup. If she immediately walks away, ask If I would change the prenup for the better for themself: My answer will be NO. If she would talk about the prenup/money all date => GOLDDIGGER Not my type: They can leave the same way as they arrived through the same door. Notification: Mariah Carey earns EVERY penny she made, Both Do.

I've been married almost 24 years. if we divorced I'd go for nothing. it's stuff. I can buy more stuff and make more money. if I want out, I just want out. I've no plans to get into a long drawn out battle. I do think though that if you come into a marriage with wealth you should protect it. And if you have a problem with saying 'you're right, I want no part of what you already have' there's a problem.
