Melodelfe GB and people of other races will NEVER understand what we have been through and are still going through. I’m not one to just jump on the it’s racial in every situation however, sometimes it is what it is...
@naturallynnodi45125 жыл бұрын
Melodelfe GB I understand that. Everyone that was affiliated with him needs to be put UNDER the jail. Everyone is at fault....BUT! You also have to ask yourself this question: Why is that whenever there are Blacks going through turmoil, where are our “allies” having our backs? We’re not saying that we have it worse than any other race, but it’s pretty convenient that we are the only race where all of our sufferings is not taken seriously. All these years with BOLO, and Amber Alerts have you heard of any discussing a black child missing? But they will drag out a John-Benet case, or bring attention to two white gurls trapped in a basement...Even one of the jurors admitted/stated that he disregarded everything these girls said on the stand. EVERYTHING sis.

I totally agree with Adrienne's point. Women of colour suffer the most in these situations but yes, all women do suffer. But that's a given, we've already established that. Racism still exists and so in this situation, we're dealing with not one but two huge issues, women's basic rights and racism. Women of colour are still treated like weak animals, I see it every day.

The problem with the "everyone gets disrespected" is that not everyone gets help. These women, these black women, need help and they need justice. They need people who are going to step up for them and that's not happening. You can say all women all you want to but they're not getting justice because the victims are black. Instead of ignoring it, let's honor it and get them some help.

How can black people continue like her when she makes comments like this? She's letting you know how she feels about you. Please recognize a racist when you see one. Just because someone loves black d*ck and black music and sits next to black people everyday at work, does not preclude her from being a racist. I feel like black people have the hardest time grasping this concept. It is entirely possible for someone to smile and grin in your face everyday, while carrying a bias against you. And it's not like this is the first time she's made comments like this either.

Samantha Curry it’s not just black women honey. When Harvey didn’t do his time for his actions black people were upset because he is white, even though he abused white women. And now they are upset because r Kelly isn’t doing his time for abusing black women because they claim his victims don’t matter since they are black. When we can clearly see that is false. People want to make every thing about race, but sexual abuse doesn’t discriminate, and sadly the system fails most women of all colors.

marquis atkins MiCa Love no Jeannie was correct. Is Weinstein in jail? Is Kevin spacey? Nope not him either. James toback? Nope. I could go on but I’m sure you get my point. It’s not about race. It’s about men in power getting away with disgusting behaviour because they have money.you don’t here “white women” or any other race saying oh it’s because we’re white that’s why their abusers are walking around free. No I’m sorry. There are so many rich men who are yet to be put in jail for their actions and it’s not because of the colour of the women accusing them its because of who they are and the status they have.
@makreviews21465 жыл бұрын
@@flutterby8462 Very much missing the point. It is true that men in power get away with this regardless of the color of their victim's skin. But notice that when the Weinstein and Kevin Spacey accusations came out there was a quick backlash against both and the victims were believed easily. Not to mention both were charged with crimes quickly as well. It is a verifiable fact that the victims of R'Kelly have not been believed for years. But the issue here is these stories about R. Kelly have been around for over 20 years. And many people did not believe the accusers, called them "fast" and "sluts" and joked about the video where R. Kelly is urinating in a girl's mouth. On the docuseries, one of the jurors in his trial said just that he didn't believe them for these reasons. Why were these girls and women not believed for years? Why did people even after knowing about this man marrying Aaliyah when she was 14 and seeing this man do that heinous act still listen to and support his music? We live in a country where there are privileges and the color of one's skin and socio-economic status allows some to be believed and valued more than others because of stereotypes. Chance the rapper just said he realizes he didn't believe the accusers because they were black women. These women were not believed for years and it's partly because as black girls it was assumed that they were lying, "fast" and trying to bring R. Kelly down because of stereotypes placed on them by society. Again, women of other races are sometimes not believed but not for the same reasons and not at the same rate. Our society socializes us to not see privilege and disadvantage because it is not spoken outrightly but that doesn't mean it's not there. The evidence is clear.

I have heard Jeannie acknowledge racism, but is also think because she does things overseas, she was looking at it as a more broad matter. However, this is definitely an issue of color because if blonde haired, blue eyed, Britney or Addison was in that studio, the police would have been knocking down the door. Also, keep in mind that R Kelly was ran out of Atlanta, but his name was gospel for so long in parts of Chicago. R Kelly has people inside the police dept who call ahead of time and warn him, according to what was said in the doc. There is a reason he continues to keep his base there...that’s where he is protected.

The issue here is that it come from the black people. I'm so tired of hearing people say that because it's about black girls so white folks don't care. If you think that you are delusional . R Kelly was under investigation once but the only victim who could have put him jail denied everything for money. It was a black girl with a black family. So saying that justice doesn't work and if it was white girls he would be in jail is really stupid. Think about it, if justice was still investigated R Kelly after the girl denied everything ( no more proof in this case ) a lot of black people would be in their feelings saying that because it's a black men justice isn't equal , poor him white people are evil , always chasing the good black etc... Those black parents who let their girls in this situation despite the allegations THAT is the problem. The parents of the girls who denied the allegations for money THAT is the problem. Moreover if we are honest with ourselves , we have to say that in the black community we have a huge problem with molestation. Think about the amount of black celebrity that have been abused what it is for regular black people ? We need to ask those issues with our eyes open and don't hide behind " white privilege"thing. Because the people saying that justice doesn't care about putting black abusers in prison are the same saying that justice is less strict when in comes to black abusers when this people are found guilty. Yes I think about Cosby. The number of people saying that because he is black it's was too easy for the justice to put him in jail but what about Harvey Weinstein. Don't forget that it take SO much time for Cosby to be found guilty, regular people ( not the industry) new it for long times while Weinstein 's affairs are new to regular people ( not the industry). Plus even after the documentary I STILL see comments from BLACK people defending R Kelly , women and men .

Jeanie Mai has officially rubbed me the wrong way. I watched a video on all of the dismissive & flat out racist things Jeanie has said about Black women & Black men, on this show. I was completely unaware of this until a KZbind pointed things out (with receipts). Jeanie fetishizing Black men & saying “White keeps me right” in regards to how she loves Black men “on the side” but prefers the superiority of white men. Her comparing women profiting off of making themselves appear Black, to Patrick Starr (a man) wearing makeup. & now this... every time there’s an inside regarding Black people or Black women, watch Jeanie immediately become dismissive. I’m very disappointed, but it’s always the ones that you think that are so “cool” & “down” because they try to use Black lingo to seem down, but deep down have colorist & racist views. Monique I did watch the documentary. I also watched the mother of the 14 year old victim in the sex tape lie on the stand and say that wasn’t her daughter in the tape, which could have changed everything! I also watched people in his close circle and his management watch every foul thing R Kelly has ever done with a closed lip if there was a check involved (including some of the victims). I stand by what i said. Black people have to do better. Stop waiting for a “white girl” to come get harassed before you feel you have enough power to do anything. It starts with boycotting his music, cancelling his entire career, taking this to the police. I’ve lost count as to how many interviews and books that have surfaced “exposing” R Kelly, but i can’t count a single police report! That says a lot. Now more than ever, it’s time for black people to unite as a whole and do something to stop all this! We can play “what if the victims were white” all day! That won’t change anything.
@jchidi5 жыл бұрын
R Kelly is obviously a very powerful man. How do i know this? Because just as you said, this has been going on for decades and the most the victims have done is hold interviews and write books. A lot of the victims parents basically sold their child’s soul to R Kelly in hopes for fame and wealth. That’s black parents for ya. I’m all for people telling their story but is that where it ends? Or was that simply an act of desperation to keep the checks rolling in. And what exactly have black people done to punish this man? That was the entire point of the documentary, they were all too scared to do anything! They felt powerless and possibly didn’t have the resources. That being said, it’s up to the general population to first off BELIEVE the victims stories and second, help do something about it. Muting R Kelly is simply scratching the surface. Instead of fighting for justice you have people still streaming and downloading this mans music. Since we’re talking about race, do you know how many black people to this very day still believe R Kelly is innocent. And there’s just as many people that know he did it, and don’t care. They may not make up the vast majority, but the point is there are way too many black people with this sick mentality and THAT, in part, is why this man still walks free today.

We never took the grown black men that mess with young black teenage girls seriously. We seen it and minded our own business. Sorry, the black community is the ones that doesn’t care about our black girls. We are too busy worried about what the white man gonna do about it, instead of what are we gonna do to protect our black youths. The crazy thing is, if the cops can put charges on Kelly and he gets convicted, and let’s says he gets 40 yrs. There will be people in black community that will still say he got that much time because he’s black. So what? We have to stop comparing toxic white men to toxic black men. Why would we want those kinds of toxic black men back into our community, to destroy our community? Let’s fix this, black community: you see something, say something, simple.

Jeannie has me side eyeing her right now. All women are definitely disrespected and abused, but let’s be honest here black women are the most disrespected and abused without any justice and support from society. I understand she doesn’t want to look like the bad guy, but in this case it’s definitely about race

So we can talk about the situation watch a 3 part docuseris on R Kelly’s crime but haven’t heard of any arrests no charges nothing! Where r the search warrants, FBI, the cops where’s the whole police department! I don’t want this issue to die out and we all forget about it we need to hear a court date withen the next few weeks!

Adrienne wanted to say “that’s like saying ‘all lives matter’” and I couldn’t agree more. Look at the #MeToo movement. In its genesis with just a black woman it got no traction. But the moment white women grabbed a hold of the movement it got national attention and the Black founder was barely even credited. Race plays a HUGE part into the R Kelly situation and I wish more people would listen to Black women

Every time one of the ladies have an opinion that ‘we’ don’t agree with, there’s a lot of hateful comments towards them. It’s okay to disagree....but it’s unfair that one minute you’re praising them, then the next your bashing their characters and demanding they be removed from the panel. Doesn’t make sense. It’s ok to disagree. But what’s not ok is using the opportunity to discredit them.🤨 Unnecessary.😕

But this is a show that celebrates diversity and she's dismissing the plight of other women of color. If she had statistics or data to support her argument, fine, but she was speaking out of pure ignorance. She was speaking as if she hadn't been sitting next to black women for the past 6 years, making money off of the format of this show. That's actually pretty disturbing. She really exposed herself in this segment.
@nfvy81115 жыл бұрын
Janét Lí Exactly. There was a video posted titled “black women should side eye Jeannie mai” and it was full of disgusting, racist comments against Asians because of this one misconstrued comment Jeannie mai made. They were calling asians “devils” and saying Asians were “born with tails” and other despicable things. People of color need to stop fighting amongst each other.

The subtle reactions have something to do with race and culture, no denying it! Somebody thinks that's just culture amongst black people and so there isn't much to be enraged about. At one point it was 'normal' to assume black women had to give sexually or do unthinkable things to get somewhere in certain industries. That was something to be enraged about too but 🤷🏾♀️...
@alisealfred58655 жыл бұрын
Jeannie my dear you faux pas on this one. While your point is valid I am disappointed that you failed to acknowledge that this is in fact a race issue as it regards to the response of the authorities. Let us look at for example the effort that was placed on say finding and prosecuting the demons in the Elizabeth Smart issues way back and that was one girl, one white girl. Yet reports after reports of young black girls being taken advantage of by this one man and yet he still walks among you, still breathes fresh air and gets to enjoy the luxuries of life all because the authorities don't see value in the victims. But R Kelly is not the only issue here nor is the authorities, all the people who aided him in this are just as guilty of abuse. It was not a time to be PC Jeannie, call the spade a spade

Jeannie here is the perfect example of talking at someone and not to them she's so caught up in her politically correct opinion for daytime tv she isn't listening to the issue. These are heinous sexual crimes specifically committed toward underage black girls some as young as 12. It is a racial thing and this isn't 'desensitization' its injustice.

Jeannie, I’m really disappointed. You’re usually a voice of reason, but you flat out denied the realities of many black women in one statement. Nobody said other women don’t get abused. However in many cases black women are more prone to sexual assault/abuse because abusers know that others probably won’t believe these same black women, or brush it aside. I just can’t believe you uttered those words on national television expecting people to be on board with you
@chuckie1028835 жыл бұрын
I like that Jeannie is a rational thinker and isn’t quickly going to race. Remember she is an active advocate of sex trafficking crimes against women and I’m sure sees the statistics and studies this deeply. She’s not jumping on the race bandwagon so fast because she’s assessing the statistics overall given her knowledge. Nothing wrong with that.

It's very unfortunate that this is a worldwide issue for women however as a black woman I can't ignore the fact we are considered last when it comes to several issues in this world. All women matter and are equally important once again in this case we are talking about the documentary and these women are women of color. I pray justice is served for all cases regarding the disrespect of women.

Jeannie is right - the problem is the focus on R Kelly is micro; one case, one man. Jeannie is thinking macro. The problem of older people manipulating children into sex through authority, coercion, or bodily harm is a problem that has no specific ethnicity when it comes to victims. We as a society are normalizing the power dynamic of sex and the sexualization of children. That's macro. In this case, it is about black girls, but this case and the fact that he was allowed to abuse for so long is not exclusive to black people or POC. It happens all the time, in every industry, to children from all backgrounds and ethnicities. It's not that black girls don't matter, it's that people don't really think children matter. We see it with R Kelly, Sandusky, the catholic church, Jimmy Savile... for ANY of those people to succeed as abusers, there had to be people that looked the other way. Walking out of a room where a child is being raped and not intervene or having a bedroom door fly open on a tour bus to see a grown man having sex with a 15 year old... either you're a coward or you're desensitized.

Well as a white girl... I have been sexually harassed for years by old white, black, Hispanic men. I work for a billion dollar business full of harassment. I even reached out to a lawyer n basically was told ya can't do anything because you work for an at will employer and they really don't need a reason to fire you. They told me realistically you will get fired. Are you prepared to deal with this? Can your family make it with out ur income? Which they can't. So for years I have felt helpless. I believe no women should ever have to deal with this. It's going to take all women fighting together to make a difference. I was told it's very rare you will even win after many years. And most of my family works for this company as it is huge where I'm from. I asked can they go after my family and they lose their jobs? I was told yes and they twill. I always feel like my hands are tied and it's horrible

The issue I have with what Adrienne said is that she made it seem as though he got away with it from the police or people *outside the black community* didn’t care because the victims were black which is just wrong. Nobody let his victims down more then the black community… after the police became aware of the video back in 2003-2004 he was arrested and charged (police don’t know someone’s abusing under age girls without people coming forward) and after he was arrested it was the black community who defended him and claimed that he was being charged because he was a successful black man. It’s been known since 96 that he married a 14 yr old Aaliyah when he was damn near 30 and that didn’t stop the black community from supporting him or black artists from working with him.

In May 2018, 2 Black Bodies were found on 2 separate occasions hanging from trees in Atlanta, GA. One was a man, the other body was a female. The police ruled both deaths as public suicides. They refused to give adequate media coverage and never revealed the race of either individual... Lynchings of the past were treated much the same by police and the nation. We are living in a society that still refuses to humanize all people. Black women have been ignored and continue to be destroyed by rape, abuse, neglect and forced to raise children alone while their good men are killed or sitting behind bars for harsh sentencing AND/OR crimes they did not commit. AND, their bad men contribute to their abuse and violation forcing her to feel shame, unloved, abandoned, used because they are Black women who are not beautiful or worthy enough of this twisted world's standard of beauty and humanism.

It's not fair man this system, society, if it's a crime against a minority vs a minority they sweep it under the rug as much as possible, but a crime against a minority vs the majority makes headlines ???? World news so quick to make us minorities look bad but when it comes to crimes against our same group y'all ain't so quick to help out...... We've been knew R Kelly was like this. Yes all women of any race do fall victim to this subject, buttt when talking about r kelly, race plays a huge part of it, all of his victims are minorities, we've seen the man pee on a little girl dude and that's still not a good enough reason to stop him why because poor babygirl didn't have green eyes and blond hair??????. 100% agree with you ladies if it were a blond hair blue eye victim to R Kelly or any colored man, maaaaan all over america would have fit. I really agree with Adrienne on this you hate to see it but I really feel it is. It’s like when the lady called the police on the guy and said “I fear for my life there’s a black man threatening me” they swooped in because she was seemingly Caucasian if a Latina or black woman made a call like that there wouldn’t have been the same reaction.

This situation is happening with all women of different backgrounds and colours of different countries evident through the me too movement and Jeannie was right in saying that but I think it was not necessary for her to mention that comment when discussing the R. Kelly situation as mentioned in the docuseries there was no momentum for the mute kelly movement and people think mute kelly is a recent movement when it isnt it's been there but because the r kelly situation involves black women it's going unnoticed.
