shot at 4:53 blew me away, doubted at first bc of the "the real" and "sir" in your name kinda self elevating and the hip hop which felt mismatched but your photos speak for themselves. subbed

He probably uses zone focusing, but he is really good at it and it is not easy. Especially since he seems to use a pretty shallow depth of field. It takes a lot of practice.

Yes, I use zone focusing. I have a video about focusing where I talk more about that. With my Xpan I usually shoot wide open at f4.

you make me change my plans for the weekend :). Excellent video (love the lens, what is it?) mixing, and superb framing/timing of the shots, you definitely have your signature. A few months ago I mimicked the Xpan's aspect ratio with my Sigma SD Quattro by way of 21:9 (with manual primes) for a whole day of shooting, only because of you. Very different, and very rewarding! Cheers

Hey Robin, I've recently been shooting some Cinestill and love the look. I've been trying to recreate the look in Lightroom but I can't quite get there, also can't really find a good guide. Do you have any tips? Also got your zine recently and I love it!

Definitely can't justify buying an Xpan, but I've bought adapters to shoot 35mm in my Pentax 67... just need to get out there and do it though. Between you and Ed Pavez, I'm really feeling a push to try panoramic!

Very nice video, Robin. Just a couple of questions... Are these images lab scanned, they look too good for flatbed, right? Also, you managed to get a beautiful colour rendition with that film, was it at box speed? Look forward to the next one, nice to see some film shots that look even better than the digital video you were shooting with, often not the case with film photography KZbin videos.👍
@therealsirrobin6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I scanned them with a digital camera. I have a video about my scanning work flow on my channel. It wasn't shot at box speed. I set the meter to 400.
@milesmonroe656 жыл бұрын
the_real_sir_robin Ah, yes I’d forgotten about that video. I only have a kind of ‘macro’ lens on the Leica Q. Do you think you could get similar results from that or would the 28mm just be too wide for any scanning usability?
@therealsirrobin6 жыл бұрын
I think that might be too wide but give it a try!
@milesmonroe656 жыл бұрын
the_real_sir_robin Will do, thanks.🍻
@CARLA198225 жыл бұрын
Can you clarify when you stated you didn’t shoot at film speed of 1600 but set meter to 400. Does that mean you exposed the shot as if it was at 400 ISO, or did you physically set the ISO button on xpan at 400 even though it’s 1600? Sorry for stupid question but still confused about”pushing film” when shooting film and pushing film when developing... ty!
