My old Civic coupe was a 1.8 naturally aspirated 4 cylinder with 140hp at 6300rpm and only 128 torque at 4300rpm, both relatively high rpm for the output. By comparison you get 137hp at 5000rpm and 162torque starting at 2500rpm! So much more power immediately on tap in the early rev range. Very clever to tune this for city driving since that will be someone’s experience most of the time. On the other hand, it’s not a GT car and the engine would probably get very whiny at 75 mph on road trips but it’s an ok tradeoff- you know what you are buying.

Buick dares to put the Avenir name on a vehicle that has no dual-zone climate, no power passenger seat ( or cooled seats), no rear vents, soft rear doors, or homelink? Forget entry-level when "Avenir" is applied. The Asia market get most of these features, and more!

I doubt the engine will last 100,000 miles. This looks to be the Bic lighter of autos. Would rather get a lightly used Honda or Toyota for less than 30k.
@chynacash31389 ай бұрын
Depends on the design of this engine - If it's like the Ford EcoSport 3cyl with the "wet" timing belt design which makes it a completely disposable engine then yes this will have a fairly short shelf life as well - But I have no clue if this is timing chain driven or just simply not designed for "temporary" use like the Ford.

Great review. Love the exterior looks, interior average. Does the rear window come with an electric defroster?

Looks very pleasing for a coupe-crossover. Just wondering why the Envista isn't more fuel efficient. A vehicle like this should at least reach 35 mpg highway.

It’s fairly average for the class. I’m guessing it’s a combo of the turbo and the larger higher cuv profile. Probably would get better mileage if it was a straight up sedan. Oh, and the 6 speed. It’s actually impressive it’s average for the class considering that half the competition is cvt.

If these are found to be reliable after 4 years and some going 20 to 30 thousand miles a year, more will buy them. The previous Trax and Equinox were very unreliable, that does not help the sales of their new designs, but does keep the price lower. Many think the Ford Maverick truck is a better vehicle for the price, both the hybrid and the Ecoboost versions depending on the need for all wheel drive or towing.

Ive alway liked Chevy / GM, but I think they shouldve invested into Hybrid Tech before EV tech, and this is a great example. This car looks great but without Hybrid it wont be able to touch the RAV4 segment leader. EVs are great but most Americans need range and you cant beat a hybrid for range.

Would definitely spring the extra $$ for AWD and they need to throw on the rear-wiper.

I understand sacrifices must be made to accomplish a lower price but GM vehicles historically fall apart after the first 5 years. This vehicle makes me believe GM continues cutting corners thanks to UAW shenanigans.

Always blame the workers.. they have been cutting costs and building junk cheap vehicles in this segment for 10 years now, all while doubling the price of the vehicles and the CEOs pay.

I’m going to guess here but will be thinking that the top Avenir trim (and top two Trax trims the 2RS and Activ) will have the Bose system and extra speakers as options (not standard) for 2025. Probably costing an extra $3,000.
@dbsti30067 ай бұрын
Clearly, you are incompetent to the market, or this isn't your market. This base model is only 22k. Far below most. People will flock to this vehicle and not give 2 shits about a Bose system.

Buick is a GM Chinese "luxury" brand now. All Buicks are made in either China and/or Korea and imported back to USA. Most larger Buicks use a 2L turbo or a 1.5L 4 cylinders-- this 1.2L 3 banger may prove to very problematic since it has quite the history in Europe with deteriorating timing belts before 100,000 miles.
@victreebel1709 ай бұрын
Comparing this to the Kicks and the Venue is a little much. It's definitely cramped inside but those are two of the cheapest cars on the market. This is underpowered for $30k. Still love how it looks, though.

I like it but the rear turn signals are way to low for visibility and safety. You stand a good chance of being rear ended. A Corvette's turn signals are higher.

Awesome job again, Sofyan & Company! I do like this Buick (though it does mean that whole "near luxury" vibe Buick once had is truly dead) And we're in total agreement about that instrument panel; both Kia and Nissan (and Chevrolet, for that matter) do a much better job. Which is why I can honestly say: I'd choose the Trax over the Envista if I were shopping for this GM (I mean, "gm") platform. But as you stated, Toyota has a hybrid Corolla Cross for not much more and with avaliable All-Wheel-Drive. That's what I thought (and hoped) Buick would have offered for the Avenir trim of this otherwise gorgeous Envista 5-door hatchback crossover sedan. Yes, that would have drove the price up to about $33,000, but it would have solidified "Avenir" as a "premium" trim for the brand. Oh well, I guess that's Mazda's job now! 🐰
