To me this SUV misses the mark. Like the similarly impractical EQS sedan, it’s such a big car and yet interior space doesn’t seem much bigger than a Tesla Model Y. Also, still no frunk. It’s definitely no R-Class, which was a far more practical vehicle. The exterior proportions are still odd; it looks like a FWD crossover, but at least it appears to be smaller than it actually is. The interior materials and design are amazing; no complaints there. I think the Mercedes-EQ naming scheme has to go too. If you told someone you just bought a Mercedes-EQ EQS SUV, it would sound like you’re having a stroke. Not to mention, it’s all over the place. EQS is a sedan, yeah? As is the EQE. Why is the EQC an SUV? Same with the EQA? And obviously they can’t call the large SUV an EQGLS, so they call it an EQS SUV. If I were Mercedes, why not call it a Mercedes-EQ S, Mercedes-EQ GLS, and so on.

The design is spot on to me. As is the technology. What baffles me, however, is where did all the space go?? The seating arrangements and storage of this car is comparable to my much smaller Model Y. I thought the 3rd row would be massive, but it’s literally the same. It also somehow has a smaller sub-trunk and no frunk. I don’t know how Tesla does it, but their cars are incredibly space efficient. The R1S suffers a similar fate. I thought it would bigger inside than the Model X, but somehow the Tesla egg shaped cars are more space efficient than the cars with the ACTUAL space efficient shape (a box).

Technically, the R1S does have a more accommodating third row but only by an inch more when it comes to legroom and headroom. The EQS and Model X have optional third rows,, but the X has some more room for adults compared to MB. The EQB is comparable to the Model Y's tiny third row, not the EQS. But remember that the X, R1S, and EQS are all midsize in terms of SUV size (don't know why MB advertises as a 3 row and as a full size since it isn't quite a EV GLS) and the EQB and Y are all compact in terms of SUV size

@@justsahar1253 I agree the 3rd row is a usable space, but at least for the US market, many SUV customers look for 6 seat arrangement. Volvo XC90 learned that lesson a few years ago and changed the options.

I'm disappointed in this model. I was hoping the EQS suv would've mirrored the GLS, at least in terms of interior space, specifically the 3rd row that can accommodate adults and the space behind the 3rd row. My guess would be that MB chopped off the rear to help improve range, but doing so sacrificed a lot of practicality. Better to wait for the electric Range Rover, or potentially Genesis GV90. Sadly, I hoped MB would have just electrified the GLS, which seems to be what they did with the EQC & EQB. Swing and a miss, at least in terms of a practical 3 row electrified SUV

Thats impossible. They are entirely different architectures. The GLS is a bigger vicke which translates into a roomier 3rd row and quite a bit more cargo capacity. Lets face, for better or worse, it this is simply a wagonized EQS. Comparing to the GLS is a non starter. Maybe, in the future there will be an even larger EV platform and then there will be a comparable full size SUV to the GLS.

Same. This looks like a GLC. The EQB looks better than this and it looks like an actual GLB. I feel like Mercedes is catering to it's European base here because they drive smaller vehicles over there than North America. If the EQS was shaped like a GLS it wouldn't sell much there probably.

Why having a long huge hood and no frunk under it? Third row seats are much tighter than in Chrysler Pacifica PHEV good for American adults. Even in Rivian R1S there is no enough seating space for adults in the third row. There is no third row for American adults in any Tesla. Only Ford Explorer extended base when will be based on F150 Lightning or when Chevrolet Suburban will come based on upcoming Electric Silverado will accommodate adults in the third row. Is to be expected electric Grand Wagoneer will accommodate adults in the third row as well.

I don't like this trend towards sunroofs that don't open, but to their benefit, this one still does -- although only half way. Unfortunately there is still some remnants of fake exhaust hanging on for dear life. Not sure what the Germans are thinking with that. Love the light color, but definitely not a color for families with small kids since I can see foot scuff marks on the center console on the tester. The infotainment screen will be a fingerprint nightmare and my OCD would drive me crazy. Hate the touch sensitive controls, and the second row seats move forward way too slow.

2nd row still for toddler's. 3rd row is a fire trap where your children turn into barbecue in an accident with batteries which can catch fire. if you have that much money get a real SUV and don't worry for gas. If any of those displays malfunction you be paying 10k to replace them. rear view mirror not based on camera is a big security problem.
