About those 5 Ps... I'd argue that you left out a key component to seeking perfect peace. Perhaps studying the scripture? I'd probably argue that searching the pages of scriptures to see what God has already said is our first line of defense.

Any possibility you guys could get an Evangelical Quaker on the show? Shoutout to Robert Barclay the great Quaker Theologian who refuted Calvinism in his Apologia "First we may call this doctrine(Calvinism) a novelty, seeing that for the first four hundred years after christ there is no mention of it. The first foundations for it were in the writings of Augustine, who, in his warring against Pelagius, let fall some expressions which some have unhappily picked up to the establishment of this error."

Yeah. I’d have a Quaker on. Idk if I’d have them talk on Augustine though. I think that subject has been covered more than necessary. Also I think it’s rather exaggerated.

When discussing theological subject matter by using phrases such as "I think, possibly, in my opinion, could be, might be, looks like, in some kind of way, in some sort of way, might be connected might not, it may be used this way or maybe not, especially "I think it was God's intention? etc., etc., from a scholarly Christian viewpoint, it is a very slippery slope of uncertainty being painted directly or indirectly as the solid ground of biblical truth, be careful bros, I immensely respect what you're doing, but it's also a great accountability. Your use of original "language" in it's content, context, cultural application (of that particular era or even moment) hmmm? Words and phrases in English are many times different in Hebrew, Aramaic, Ugaritic, etc., even though it is the exact same word or phrase used elsewhere in God's Word .... Those who have the Gift of Prophecy? Spirit of Prophecy? You were seriously aloof and standoffish about it, meaning to an attentive ear 'you simply don't know', or just had a certain take on it... I trust that you become more versed (studied) in the original languages and dialects, you might just want to look a little closer at how Prophets and Prophecy are used in their first century culture, it might surprise you. We as Christian (Pastors, Teachers, Collegiate Academia, etc.) have a long not so good history of not truly applying our investigative skills to the deeper underlying Biblical Narratives of early century Christianity, and haphazardly inserting our own denominational biasness, hence so many Bibles with poor translative word and phrase usages. I am confident that your hearts are in the right mind of wanting to convey God's Word as accurately as possible, I simply encourage you to be careful on how you share the material because a new generation of extremely, inquisitive, (well educated) believers and nonbelievers are on the rise as they are listening, learning, and leaning on us for the "Truth", and 50/50 answers just don't cut it anymore, and actually, they never did. Again, much respect to all of you, and many blessings on the continued success of God's faithfulness placed in your hands... Shalom

“I feel like the Lord said to me” said no one ever in the Bible. If hearing the voice of God is so important then where are the instructions in the NT on how to hear God’s voice outside of scripture? Yet there are warnings about adding to it. If we believe in the sufficiency of scripture, why do we believe that the Lord speaks to us outside of it today? Romans 10:17 Faith comes from hearing and hearing through the word of Christ. 2Peter 1:3 How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord is laid for your faith in his excellent word. What more can he say than to you he hath said. To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled.

The Holy Spirit spoke directly to Philip (Acts 8), Paul/Ananias (Acts 9), Peter (Acts 10), Agabus (Acts 11; 21), prophets and teachers in Antioch (Acts 13)…. And we could keep going. Far from “no one ever,” we have example after example. Sufficiency of Scripture does not mean that God stopped speaking through prophets (can you find a verse that says that?). It means that Scripture gives us all we need for salvation and godly living. In order to live a godly life, prophecy is extremely helpful - among the most edifying of spiritual gifts (1 Cor 14). To deny this is, in fact, to deny the sufficiency of Scripture. Because the Scripture gives us all we need for salvation and godly living, it naturally follows that we who believe in its sufficiency should aim to live by what it teaches. “Eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy” (1 Cor 14:1)

I believe in prophecy but not so frequently as some churches would believe and practice. I have seen prophetic words go very wrong. People treat prophecy irreverently. Prophetic words have led to much hurt, disappointment and disillusionment with church including myself. When u go forward for prayer someone prays for a minute or two even when they know u and then share a prophetic word which is then not fulfilled
@Righteouslivebyfaith

The Holy Spirit in example after example in scripture spoke clearly and precisely. The apostles did not have to feel led or suppose they got a word from the Lord. They knew that it was a word from the Lord. There was no confusion. There were times they simply decided or thought it best as well, but did not state that those instances were of the Holy Spirit. God speaks today through his Word. The canon is complete. Scripture is sufficient. Does our definition of prophecy differ? Prophecy as I understand it means a word from God. I desire to prophesy in that I would be able to speak forth the written Word of God for the edification of the church. It would be dangerous and unwise to presume that a dream or strong feeling to do something is a word from the Lord, especially if not backed up by the doctrine of scripture. We are told to test the spirits and warned about false prophets/prophesies repeatedly in scripture. Even in the context of Corinthians, one of the reasons Paul was writing them was because there was so much misuse and confusion going on with the spiritual gifts. Do you believe that there is extra biblical revelation promised for believers today? I have not studied that in scripture, but perhaps I am missing something. May we contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. God bless.

Samuel had no instructions when hearing from God. The Spirit Himself does the teaching. The problem is when our natural mind wants to objectify that which is subjective. Of course, the scriptures, which are objective, teach that there is a such thing as prophecy; however, the act of performing it, or hearing from God, is a subjective experience. Subjectivity isn’t any less real or valid; it’s just that people are afraid of it.
