Hello, commissioner here! I’ve gotta say, I’m a super big fan of Aaron’s music in general, but this has to be one of my favorite tracks so far! I’ve listened to it a few dozen times already, and it’s easy to tell he put a lotta love into this one, from the grand motifs to the subtle changes in the background as the song goes on… I’ve heard some people say this matchup is a sweep, but I don’t think so. I think people tend to only think of the mainline games when they think of Lusamine; however, outside of it, she has a lot more Pokemon at her disposal: in the manga, she has an assortment of Ultra beasts; and in Pokemon Masters, she even gets her hands on Necrozma! Even if Masters isn’t all that canon, I think it makes for a more interesting matchup. Do Ultra balls work on abnormalities? Does Necrozma’s ability to eat aura work like qloth suppression? Would Bewear and Happy Teddy make great friends?!? I picked this fight primarily because both of them have slapping music, but also because they’ve got a whole lotta story connection. I think the fight is pretty even once you factor in non-mainline content… Still, don’t let this detract from how good this one turned out!!! Thanks again Aaron!!!!

Hats off to you, I was really hoping to get the first ProjectMoon themed MU but ig I came up short Kromer vs Griffith, Don Quixote vs Donquixote Doflamingo (which is now more relevant than ever thanks to a recent revelation), Gregor vs Eren Yeager and Bunny Girl Themed Military Squads Battle Royale (Touhou, Umineko, PMoon obviously, there's more than you might think) but I was unable to land on one.
@NeoAya2 ай бұрын
Also abnormalities are beings created from one's mind/subconscious, suggesting they can be captured by a pokeball is the same as suggesting Pyramid Head could be captured by one. WhiteKnight and Price of Silence alone would also be too much for Lusamine going off their Ruina fights, I doubt she would get the idea to pray in her UB form. This isn't accounting for literally every other abno contained within the library, as opposed to a very limited team of pokemon. There's also the fact that Pokemon can well, die. Every single abnormality has proven to be unkillable, and simply revert into an egg form when defeated, which they will eventually re-emerge from.

@@NeoAya I mean, Lusamine doesn’t have to kill them if she’s strong and fast enough to simply avoid them. And death battle does count characters being unable to battle for long periods of time as “deaths” like with Discord and the Pheonix. I don’t believe game or manga Lusamine is that powerful, maybe star level but Masters Lusamine has Necrozma which should be universal. How strong is Angela, or whatever she uses to fight?

I will say, I was certainly not expecting to see Library of Ruina, or any Project Moon game as a whole get a chance in the spotlight with a commission track, but it's one that I can confidently say that I am glad to listen to. When I heard that this track was coming this week, I took some time to actually head back and listen to most of Library of Ruina's OST, as well as various parts of Pokémon Sun and Moon's OST, which did give me a slight appreciation for that game's OST since it had been so long since I played it. But aside from going back, it helped me imagine how certain parts might mix together and what to expect, and I have to say I not only was impressed by what I heard being referenced but surprised as well. For the choir parts, especially around the start, it definitely feels like a mixture of Third Warning and the Mother Beast theme, giving it this incredibly oppressive and ominous vibe to it. This was something I did expect, but it was certainly welcome regardless, as it helped to sort of build this kind of tension through the start before it properly leads into the song itself. And speaking of the start, the presence of the snap-like sound akin to whenever a turn starts in Ruina is something present here, as well as other segments, and it just brightens up my day. As for most of the general instrumentation throughout the song, I think the mix between this almost tropical adventure sounding percussion around the start and an orchestral string segment is an interesting choice. It feels like an odd mix, but it feels perfectly balanced in a strange way to me. And it certainly is nice to see the percussion also seemingly work in various parts of Angela's Realization themes, which generally helps to bring this feeling of rising energy, especially due to how sparingly it's used. I do also feel the need to touch on the almost overwhelming focus on string instruments, which I do think is a nice touch as well de to how said Realization themes put an emphasis on the violin and various other string instruments for Angela. So seeing it be such a present part helps to make this track truly feel like it relates to the character. And as for the ending segment, it was certainly a surprise to hear Ultra Necrozma's theme shine through for a moment, as if to signal that we've reached the climactic part of this showdown, alongside the slight addition of what seems to be a choir. But I think the biggest surprise of all is the incorporation of Keter 3 into the final part. It felt surprising to see, but it does make sense due to it being both Roland AND Angela's floor in Library of Ruina, but it does also make me wonder if the intention in terms of if this was a fight is that Roland steps into give Angela the perfect moment to take down Lusamine and succeed. It certainly feels that way with how the rest of the track puts this huge emphasis on the Keter segment, giving both it's start and ending that snap sound before ending with the choir one final time before the track ends. If that was the intention, I am a bit surprised yet impressed at the same time. If not, then I suppose I read into it a bit too much, huh. Overall, I definitely think that this might be one of my favorite works that Therewolf has made, and that is no small feat considering how much of his work I enjoy. Of course, it might be partially due to my appreciation for Library of Ruina and it's OST. Hearing various parts and segments that I recognized so well was enjoyable, but the track itself is wonderfully done as well, having this proper feeling of escalation, energy and overall being something I can definitely see myself listening to on repeat. I'm glad that it's so long and gets all this time to show what a match like this, as unorthodox of a fight as it would be, would have the potential to be something beautiful musically. My hat goes off to you for making this, Therewolf.

Could have sworn this would have been Lusamine VS Ragyo. Oh well, not complaining as long as the song's good. And that I'd say it is. I have no idea what Library of Ruinia is (apparently it's the original game for that one meme game that released recently, Lobotomy Corp. I think it is ?) and the choice of Lusamine being the Pokémon Masters version is certainly unique (I guess it's for the Necrozma addition ?) but either way the song definitely feels like it fits the tone of the matchup at least on Lusamine's side (given my ignorance of her opponent, this review will focus a lot on Lusamine, my apologies for this) Gotta say, I was a bit worried when I first listened to the song because it's got a very slow start for the most part. The track only really "starts" at 2:10 and even if the first two minutes are certainly enjoyable with variations of scale, atmosphere-building and just quite an appreciable and catchy tone, they wouldn't make up a full track on their own. Which is why I was extremely pleasantly surprised when the track fully started at 2:10 as it makes for a great culmination of the first two minutes and works wonderfully with the extended duration of the track. It feels like the first two minutes of the song are the characters either talking to one another or fighting without their minions/Pokémon which is why the scale is so low (don't ask me how Lusamine without Mother Beast would fight by herself, I don't know either. But it's cool to imagine the implications) but then when the track fully starts this is where things get truly interesting with catchy melodies that feel fitting of Pokémon but also have a distinct classic JRPG feel to them which I suppose is meant to fit Angela's side in which case that's really good. That's something that goes for the whole song but this mixing of classic JRPG and Pokémon tones fits really well (altho I guess technically Pokémon *is* a JRPG. But let's not speak about that) and it just gets better and better as the track progresses. And speaking of which, this brings me to talk about the few specific increases in scale the song has. They're quite few for the more major ones, those being 2:10 of course, 3:18 and 4:57 but they all have a major impact to the track in a way that feels very unique. The first one I already covered but the same goes for the second and third, they both are preceded by a break or tense segment that makes them feel more impactful and that provides a good leverage point both to increase the scale *after* they happen but also to get across how the song and by extension the fight is about to reach a new level even if the main melody between the increases is essentially the same (something that doubly works given it makes the track feel more like a video game battle with the fighting music looping, something further supported by the fact that the very ending of the track is the exact same as its start). Due to this I can quite easily imagine each of those shifts being major happenings in the fight such as one side losing half their minions or one of them pulling out their big trump card minion/ability and that's really good. By the way, did I say that I can imagine one of the changes to be a part where one of the fighters pulls out their trump card ? Well scratch that because I *know* one of them is exactly that. And the reason I know this is because Therewolf, this madman, perfectly included Ultra Necrozma's theme in the song with a wonderfully grand scale opening at 4:45 that perfectly reflects the absolute event that it would be for Lusamine to pull out The Light That Burns The Sky (gosh that name is so cool). Remember how I said I wasn't sure why Lusamine's Pokémon Masters version was used ? Well honestly just for this one particular segment to introduce Ultra Necrozma I'm perfectly fine with it either way. And I like even more the fact that this reveal is actually "teased" earlier in the song at none other than the second shift in the song at 3:18 where Necrozma's motif starts playing and I feel like it perfectly fits: Necrozma has such an imposing scale that its coming to the battle is foretold in the song before it even happens. Either that or the shift at 4:57 is Ultra Necrozma actually using its Z Move, either way it works perfectly and I absolutely love it. But this moment being the highlight of the song for me doesn't remove from its true ending either I think, because this reveal is just the beginning of the end as, after Necrozma's arrival, the song gets way more tense and high stakes with much more agressive and chaotic melodies playing to reflect the sheer powers at play. And this chaos only keeps increase as the final goes on too. Speaking of which, I don't know if they're meant to represent something specific but I really like the finger snaps heard during that segment to signify the beginning and end of it so that's another cool thing (I know they're heard at numerous other points in the song but they feel the most impactful here. I guess they can be interpreted as both characters giving out orders to their minions ? If yes that's a really freaking good idea). But other than that another really appreciable detail about that ending is how it's kind of in two parts with the first one fully breaking down at 5:50 but then returning back to normal only to truly devolve into chaos and end shortly after at 6:08. It feels like one character throwing their final trump card at the enemy only for it to promptly fail, returning the battle to its "regular" pace for a bit before the other character *then* pulls out their last play to finish the battle for good this time. It's pretty simple on paper but in practice it sounds extremely unique and I really like it, a really solid conclusion to the track. Overall this song was a bit of a rollercoaster: at first I thought it was Lusamine VS Ragyo which got me hyped, then I saw it was another matchup which mellowed my expectations a bit, expectations which got matched with the first two minutes of the track only to then get absolutely obliterated by the track's quality after 2:10 because of how good it actually is. Honestly I think this may be my favorite 6mins+ track that Therewolf's made because it uses its duration wonderfully for the most part to have a really interesting and appreciable progression and generally sounds extremely unique with major standout segments that feel so grandiose you could almost imagine the epic animation sequence with them and I love everything about that. Really, even if I straight up don't know one of the characters or their franchise, this track just radiates personality on both sides of the equation and I can hear it clearly to the point I'm sure I missed a ton of great details that others will no-doubt hear for sure. Amazing job as always with this.
@takiyeet69462 ай бұрын
The finger snaps is the sound effect that plays in Library Of Ruina when you start a turn, basically. The "Increases in scale" the song has might be based off of Ruina. In Ruina, you get "Floors" which have your units and you use those to fight enemies in. The main difference between floors are different sets of Abnormality Pages, which basically give a benefit of some kind. You get these when your teams "Emotion level" increases, and at certain levels the background track of the floor changes to the next "phase", thus as you're builds start coming together and you get more powerful the music intensifies.
