How is a base pay of 50 or 75 cents on a DOUBLE or triple order reasonable/fair of an incentive for a driver to ACCEPT such an ORDER??

I absolutely HATE HATE HATE the new Punishment Program they rolled out at the start of March. They call it an incentive program but that is total BS. First off, MOST of the Delivery Offers I saw when I was above 70% AR were nothing of the sort. DD seems to think 4 and 5 dollar orders are Diamond orders ... ummm no. I do not care if they are 2 miles or less Premium offers in MY book start at 8 dollars and go up from there and that is 4 miles or less. Shipping me trash for 4 bucks ... yeah no. This garbage of having to get a 50% plus is pure punishment for people like me who WAS making good money making smart business decisions on what offers I took. My AR was 13% when this started. I spent a week under 50% and it was a long week of crickets and trash burning. DD basically found a way to get Employee type work out of its Independent Contractors ... I.E. they are getting their cake and eating it too now. We are now Independent Contractors in name only. If we do not take the trash orders (and there are A LOT of them) we WILL at some point fall below the 50% AR line and trust me, you DO NOT want to be there unless you like taking long naps and getting the occasional 2.00 to 4.00 offer. It sucks and one cannot run a business this way. It cost the driver, on average, everything considered gas, tire wear, vehicle maintenance etc, it costs the driver 4.92 a delivery to make that trip. Right at 5 bucks a pop cost to the driver so if we are not making over 5 bucks a delivery we are losing money. Five bucks SHOULD be the base pay up to 5 miles. 1 dollar a mile after that. Tips will be where the profit is at but with that formula, we would at least be breaking even on trash deliveries. DD also needs to stop clowning and educate the public as to how we get paid but they won't because they would have to admit that they don't pay us squat that the burden of paying delivery people is on the customer in all reality. Notice I do not use the word "Dasher" to describe us. Dasher implies we work for DoorDash ... we don't. I am not a Dasher, I am a food delivery driver (I don't shop for folks, didn't even register my Red Card) but anyway I got off on a spiel. Good luck everyone and be safe out there

His comment about transparency is more fluff than substance. He said "100% of the tips go to DASHERS". He didn't say 100% of the tips go to THE Dasher. Big difference and words mean something.

I do have one issue, yesterday one came across for $2.76 and was 8 miles to customer then go back 8 miles to get back to area then after that one there was another one that came up for $2.56 and to me one's like that are a slap in the face because the customer is not considering wear and tear, taxes and gas that we have to cover in order to keep giving them a way to have things delivered to their door, please leave a tip even if it is $3 because you will have a driver do it but for these prices I will say no.
@messagesend8239
@messagesend8239 Жыл бұрын
The REAL slap in your face came from Doordash and this Tony Xu henchman "Cody", they're the ones who decided to offer you a disgraceful $2.76 to drive 8 miles. The customer is a piece of shit for not tipping but it's truly disgusting that Doordash pays so poorly that drivers have to rely on tips for the majority of their income.

Pedro, you sort of look embarrassed (and you should be embarrassed) to be a part of this charade. You look like you're struggling to keep a straight face. Who selected these "questions"? Professional wrestling is less scripted than this Q and A session. He lied when he said drivers can work whenever they want. No they can't. There's been many times I've tried go online but was denied and told I have to "schedule" my Dash for a later time. Drivers can only work when Doordash allows them to.

Tip transparency has gotten better but with the two tiered Diamond Program (50% and 70% AR) what is the point of hiding any amount of the tip now? Prior to Diamond Program hiding portions of the tip balanced out the cherry picking in DD favor. But 50% and 70% AR in Diamond program accomplishes this even more I believe so why hide any tips now?
@richardpidaniy6915

Exactly! How is hiding tips legal? We are IC's. Its a form of deceptive trade practices. Concealmemt is not transparency.

Well they deactivated me leas than an hour ago but the 'diamond' high pay order program can be good but on the previous segment about transparency they said equitable access which isn't true if you're not maintaining the program for most drivers in most markets

When asked about tip transparency, he acts like a politician. Answer a question you wished you were asked and not the one you were actually asked. The idi*t refused to answer why DD continues to hide tips that does not allow an independent contractor to make an informed decision whether an order is worth taking. 🤔🤔🤔

I'm not a dasher, but yeah I would have preferred a format where he didn't have the questions in advance so he or someone in PR couldn't have pre-written what to say. And didn't I hear a timer going off after each answer? Telling him not to ramble? 🤷

Door dash lost 1.06 billion dollars in 2022. Why are over 70% plus of orders paying under a wage profitable for a Driver to ACCEPT? In 2018 the average AR was 30% nationwide when the pay was much better. How can programs with 50% and 70% AR requirements profitable for drivers to accept a ratio twice as high as 2018 but with almost 50 to 100% pay per order PAYCUT.

My numbers below do not necessarily reflect the same sequence of your video. Thank you! This video is much appreciated! 1.)I knew about active order insurance coverage as well as variables from app-to-app, what's covered and what's not, and I agree this is a pro. As well as post-delivery safety surveys, (however most of which, so far, for me, have popped up in the least of risk areas, like super nice neighborhoods in broad daylight. While a couple of times, so far, in a sketch area yet during the day. What about another place nearby that has so much electronic surveillance that your phone and app are disabled upon parking lot entry?!? In hindsight, in an area like that, I guess it's good knowing anything and everything will be caught on camera, but a video doesn't do victims much good by the time perps have gotten away, and it's disconcerting to lose app-functionality on a live delivery in the first place. ) 2.)Yea, that was clever dodging. Actually kind of clumsy. It's like, "legal-ease", or, so-called, "doordashease", legal-speak(!)re: transparency; Sometimes an add-on appears with not only a lower than acceptable amount, but no info about the destination other than, "0ft.", (zero feet?!?)Sure, it's zero feet, or less than 1000ft., from the same or nearby merchant, but where's the drop?!? I can see on the map that these two deliveries are further than 4 miles apart sometimes, but not always. Also, What about these pre-grouped, or, pre-stacked low-pay's?!? (i.e. $6.89/4.1 miles, for two customers at least 2 miles apart, means one payout is actually less than $2.00 for two miles, while the other is $4.89, and the distance is further than displayed, or not all, plus you can't see which one to unassign or not, and just unassign both, individually, or just decline in the first place. Also, blue-diamond $1.00 additional pay for a low-pay IS NOT A HIGH PAYING OFFER! And, what about current pay that doesn't update post-delivery until you, (

If 100% of tips go to drivers y are you being sued all over the country for stealing tips!!!
@messagesend8239
@messagesend8239 Жыл бұрын
On paper the drivers get 100% of the tip. The "stealing" that's done is when Doordash uses the customers' tips to reduce how much they pay the drivers. The larger the tip, the less Doordash pays the driver. THAT'S the way Doordash steals our tips.

I noticed the way he says it is always the same: drivers get 100% of the tips. Here is my theory: they're pooling all the tips and not necessarily giving each driver the full tip given to them from the order they just delivered. But another driver who may not have had any tip is now getting $ from that pool of tips, so "drivers" as a group are getting 100% of the tips.

The guy's a sellout. He's practically smirking in this video because he knows this Q and A is a totally scripted joke. The two questions that should have been asked but would never be allowed is 1) How does Doordash justify offering such horrendous payouts ($3 for a 12 mile delivery)? 2) Do the tips in any way shape or form influence the payouts Doordash pays the drivers? We KNOW that Doordash "adjusts" its payouts based on how much the customer tips.
