Awesome review Matt 👏 I really hope you read this as it was your detailed review which made me have a test drive today of the SL. Wow was i super impressed! Never thought I would say that ever about a Camry. Very smooth and refined ride with plenty of get up and go. If I closed my eyes it almost felt like a Lexus added these brilliant cars are manufactured in Japan for our market. The wrap around leather front seats were beautiful to sit in. Yes it’s 60k on the road however you get a hell of allot quality and refinement in a car that will way out last Chinese builds. Well done Toyota you absolutely nailed it and thanks again Matt 👍 Unfortunately Mazda you have lost my business due to your slow updates and technology 😢

Another great review. If you're going to call something boring, I think you need to say why. It looks sharp to me and since there aren't many sedans on the road at all, it is almost a niche vehicle now. Sure, the plastic steering wheel is straight garbage so I'd step up to the next grade. I was in the previous one as a loan car and it was so refined and quiet with lots of good info to show how my battery was charging on the screen. I like the Octavia too, especially with their simply clever gadgets and gizmos that Toyota doesn't care about.

I'd go for the base camry as I don't care about infotainment when I just listen to 3AW all day. I also prefer smaller alloys with thicker tyres for comfort. Toyota, please don't scrimp on the steering wheel. I want leather on my hands, it's the main thing that connects me to my car. Who wants to carry plastic bag over a leather briefcase when going to the office 😅

Who really cares how big the info screen is or wether it has a plastic steering wheel, there are such things as a steering wheel cover. If I was in the market for a new car it would be far more important if it was comfortable, looked good, finished well, and most importantly, RELIABLE. That's why I drive a Toyota ! Honestly, car reviews these days are NOT about the car itself, it's about size of info screens, how many cup holders, or usb charging ports it has.

$42K driveaway for a baseline Camry seems insane to me, especially when some EV's are now $30,990 with 250,000km 10-year warranties. Dunno ,call it Toyota tax but these cars we're $29k back before covid if anyone can remember.

Camry's the obvious choice for rideshare (Uber X/Pet only) and near compulsory for taxis. In top spec it is a nicer place to be than some more expensive Uber Premier vehicles like Chrysler 300 or the rear seat of a Tesla where motor whine intrudes, but that likely won't change. After all, it is "only" a Toyota and not a prestige German car.
