I'm so glad someone reviewed it, couldn't find any other reviews. I just installed mine and I was 'blown away' (in a good way, for me at least). Mine replaced a Peerless Assassin (that I moved to another build in an emergency) that was sitting on my 7800X3D. I know the cooler is overkill really as that CPU runs nice and cool anyway having a 120W TDP, though mine pulls far less than that as it's UV'd and barely overclocked. Maybe I wouldn't have been so happy with the noise if I'd installed it on something pulling 250W+, lol.
@AlienGurke6 ай бұрын
There is no overkill for cooling since you can run your system with a better fan cooler or quiter which can be superior. Also if you want to upgrade from an 6c to 12c cpu you would have to upgrade the cooler if you got a cheap one for the 6 core processor. So in the end you would buy double for a cpu cooler if you decide for the wrong one. Ofc if your budget is small, a 30€ one does its job fine but if you can spend some more money for the cooler i would definitely invest that.

Interesting testing, especially compared to Tom's Hardware, where the EVO was always ahead at 100% Pushing Power (I guess at a normalized 38db it's a different story in the long run). What I would love to see, since the TL-C12 Fans seem to be generally good (used on Peerless Assistan, Phantom Spirit, etc). How would the TL-C12Pro compare on the Thermalright Coolers or in general use (Radiator, Case Fan etc), since they are a very very cheap option too, sitting at like 6,50€ vs the TL-C12 for 6€ (or even the TL-G12). Could that be the best new Budget Option for people, after Arctic P12 being basically the same price nowadays?

Thanks for this video! I recently purchased both a Frost Spirit V3 and a Phantom Spirit EVO and was waiting for this review before deciding what to use with my 7950X. Different Perspective: Couldn’t the Phantom Spirit EVO just be used as a lower noise Phantom Spirit SE if one just limits the RPM of each fan to 1500rpm just like the SE fans are limited to rather than just allowing it to ramp up to 2150RPM? It wouldn’t be higher performing than the SE, but it would be equal performance at a lower noise floor which should be an automatic win. Seems like the Frost Spirit still wins on the 7950X though.

Turbulence noise generally comes from people not realizing putting a fan pulling next to an object creates much more noise causing people to drop fan speed overly low to compensate for the noise penalty. Always gap pull fans on heatsinks unless the heatsink has designed this gap into it like the Noctua U9S with raised edges for the pull fan side. You can use all sorts methods to gap it from felt pads to gaskets designed to create this gap by Noctua.

I often wonder about their test bench 'control' group kind of setting. I'd say, in most cases, you'd want to test these things in a real world setting, in a case, etc, because airflow matters when cooling, and so would CFM, other parts' heat as well, and an enclosed case dampening the fans a bit. I know there are reasons to test on the bench with minimal parts, but if you're using the same kind of controls in a case, it should give similar data.

I plan to upgrade to a newer platform (probably AM5) sometime in the next year hopefully so I just considered this my first piece of a new build lol.

did you try the evo fans on the base phantom spirit? the heatsink appears to be identical with the base PS, so either the heatsink is so optimized for the lower quality fans that the better ones doesn't do anything, or the black coating or something on the EVO is making them a less efficient heatsink. I for one, would be shocked if swapping the evo fans onto the base PS doesn't make it perform better than your original testing on it. of course this is all kind of moot anyways if you are not tightly controlling ambient temps in this testing

Bro, test those K12 fans, they go as low as 9.50€ on Amazon. I wanted to grt three of those but they are out of stock atm.

I decided on the Phantom spirit 120 SE rgb after watching your videos for my 13700k system and been very impressed with it. I had to move the fans up a bit to clear my G.skill ram but still far better than the old air cooler
@7iomka7 ай бұрын
Did you moved the fan wihout any mounting issues? I have Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB(2X16GB) 6000Mhz CL30 (CMH32GX5M2B2B6000Z30K), and I'm worried about the maximum available offset height to avoid overlapping the RAM strips. My mobo is Asrock B650M Pro Rs.

@@7iomka no issues at all moving the fan up. The fan flips just slide in between the fins on the heatsink

What was your previous cooler? And how better this one?
@1BadVan7 ай бұрын
@@perfect_combination tower cooler that comes with the legion 7i. About half the size of this. Temps dropped about 5c idle and 20c on heavy loads.

as a peerless assasin owner, can the fans on these work on the PA?
@HardwareCanucks9 ай бұрын
Yes, though why would you want them to?
@XxJGVxX9 ай бұрын
@@HardwareCanucks one of the fans on my PA and several from my case are giving up, I've been looking at high performing argb fans for a while and most of them are expensive, these seem priced well enough to buy several of them in one go. I don't care about fan noise at all since I either use a ceiling fan or AC throughout the day.

3:45 I think what's missing from this analysis here is the actual airflow. According to TR specs, the TL-C12C can hit 66.17CFM at just 1550 RPM while the supposedly superior TL-K12 needs 2150 RPM to produce 69 CFM. To me, this makes the cheaper C12C seem like the better fan so the fact that it's louder at the same RPM doesn't matter because it's also likely pushing much more air and the K12 can only produce more air by brute force.
@HardwareCanucks9 ай бұрын
Its not really the flow that matters as much as the static pressure in this case.
@krazyfrog9 ай бұрын
@@HardwareCanucks Makes sense. I didn't see the airflow number. BTW, the fan on the regular Phantom Spirit is TL-C12B. The TL-C12C or anything with C at the end spins counter-clockwise.

I would really like to try one of these dual heatsink air coolers just for fun but I don't think they fit in my Phanteks P300

I've bought a few of these. I'm not actually using them, but have them in case my AIO ever goes out!

Right now the top 3 seem to be the PS 120 SE, PS 120 EVO if you want the all black aesthetics, or the Frost Spirit V3. Their next flagship will be the Frost Vortex 140 but it's not released yet.
