He was on the road in the middle of a tour, so that explains why it took him an hour to show up at the hospital. The second he heard of his son's problems, he cut his tour short and rushed to the hospital. Greg is a great dad.

Can I just say that there's a pattern of who Steven opens up too (if only a little)? Think about it - Steven feels he can't open up to the Crystal Gems A team, his major gem connection, because he thinks they'll spiral (which is a fair assumption). So instead, he opens up to a Crystal Gem B team member, *Peridot* Steven doesn't want to burden Connie, his major human connection, but opens up to *Greg* ,his second most important human connection. *Steven has never been able to open to the people he should talk to directly, but he opens up to his secondary connections* giving them a spotlight to his turnaround. Now, we know the Diamonds are up next in Fragments and Homeworld Bound: the antagonists of Steven Universe. And the *only* reason he has to make amends is because, well, they're family. Now *if Spinel is in these episodes* (omg) it'll be *she* Steven opens up to lastly. Remember when Spinel gave Steven the idea to connect the puzzle pieces to the rejuvenated gems in the movie? If (preferably when) Steven talks to her, even a little, Spinel will be the turning point for Steven and then *boom* out comes the season finale. C'MOn, it's too perfect. TL;DR Steven has only been able to open up to his secondary connections in order to avoid trying to talk to his primaries (the gems - Peridot, human - Greg, antagonists - Spinel) and Spinel will be Steven's final *puzzle piece* which'LL BE A FULL CIRCLE FROM THE MOVIE- See what I mean? It can be seen a couple of ways. Could be his body reacting defensively, in a battle it would help him "hold his ground" as his body seems to be reacting to stress as if his life were in danger. It could also be a metaphor for the weight gained by his stress eating, as you see him scarfing down ice cream. But, also we know that his "floating" power is activated by good feelings, and this could just be the opposite deal.

Aside from the long list of traumas Steven endured finally being discussed in this. I also felt mildly put off by Dr./Mrs. Maehaeswaren's "I'll have a talk with your father about this later" statement. She needs to be told the truth; that it was the GEMS who "took care" of Steven most of his life, not Greg. Ergo, it makes sense that none of them took him to the doctor even once. Whether it be due to them thinking no doctor could understand who/what Steven is or them being "afraid" of what they might do to him, they might not have been willing to have him be checked out. Now; it seems all their years of sheltering him, putting so much stress/responsibility on his shoulders, barely paying attention to his human needs and them sometimes venting their issues out on him are about to bite their heads off

I love, love, LOVE, how the episode (lightly) touched on ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and the neurobiology of trauma. I never thought I'd see that in a kids show, and it gave me a good place to start with the kids that I work with; many of them who love Steven Universe and have experienced a lot of traumatizing events. This show does an amazing job at explaining trauma and PTSD in a kid friendly level.

I'm so glad that this show is talking about mental health, people with problems that might feel similar to Steven in these situations probably feel good to relate to someone. When Steven says "How do I go on when I feel like I'm about to die all the time?" I resonated with him, because I use to feel like nothing was okay all the time, and when I have anxiety attacks I feel that way again and spiral. It was hard to recover, and I'm excited to see how Steven will learn to cope with his feelings.
