My family's business is centered around pressure washers. So, I clean my rugs by like you would the floormats in your car. Those clips on the car wash wall are convenient. Put dripping wet rugs in a laundry basket for transport. My kitchen rug gets a carwash type bath at least twice a year, wool rugs as needed. They look brand new afterwards. Large rugs get pressure washed in the driveway. Edit: I think I'm imagining cleaning your old rug. You'll need to vacuum it three times (flipping it) before spot treatment. ...ˢᶦᵍʰ

Very cool dust/dirt removal ideas, but I assume the rug was tested for colorfastness before wetting/washing. I once tried to remove a fresh dog-urine stain from mine by quickly dipping the soiled area in the bath tub (trying to dilute and remove the urine before it set) and my cherished rug with its colorful design bled all over wherever the water (not the pee, the water) touched it, effectively ruining the rug. DO NOT try washing your rug until you are sure the dyes are colorfast!
@satisfylife42887 жыл бұрын
cathytai they use special mixtures to clean them so the colour doesn't bleed
@drwhowhogrub39086 жыл бұрын
Satisfy Life that's only partly true, you can use some acids to reduce colour runs, but some will still run especially light blues and some reds. And if it's wet for very long no chemicals will stop the running

Once I was hired to help clean a garage. The owner was tossing things on the concrete of the covered porch to the garage. He was already throwing beautiful smaller rugs because they had mouse poop and strong urine odors on them. Well, I was somewhere and when I came there was a giant pile of beautiful rugs, one was a hand made wool rug. About 6'x8' gorgeous! I got it rolled up and tossed in the back of my truck. Then here he comes and said... OH not THAT one! I said well I can throw it back off. He said no keep it. It took me three days too wash and rinse with Mr. Clean! Now it's my favorite, ever! Mr. Clean even gets cigarettes odor out of things I order from eBay.! Viola!

I think it’s due to the age and wear of the rug, on the back you could see colours come through when they did the compressed air part because the colours weren’t as damaged as they were on the front. There is visible improvement but the rug needs a lot more than just thorough cleaning.
