It's really the only practical way a boat can carry so much sail area downwind while also not moving very much ballast around. The magic is the boat is not too slow in light air and upwind. It's so great, and the point boats look silly now.

@@TheSailingFrenchman You asked about a Patreon or other forms of funding and I will say for myself personally is that from the few times I've donated to a Patreon it wasn't because it was entertainment (good entertainment is cheap these days and everywhere) but because it was teaching me the things I wanted to know that no one else was teaching well. If you made more videos teaching all the skills and details about helping someone like me get to the point where we could do what you're doing that definitely would deserve Patreon donations in my book. I'm looking to get a Mini 650 myself but I didn't grow up sailing like many people who do what you do have so finding this kind of educational material is super rare.

@@andrewdeandrade2142 = Your request sounds like blackmail. If you do not intend to give just don't, keep the excuses to yourself . Hugo has done more than most to deserve his viewers help!
@andrewdeandrade3 жыл бұрын
@@jiefflerenard1228 Not at all. Many youtubers are producing content and trying to make money off that content. That makes the viewers on of your customers (ad revenue) or potential customers (merchandise, patreon, etc). Other customers would include sponsors. I'm just a potential customer providing feedback on what content I've paid for. He's free to completely ignore me if I'm not the kind of audience he's trying to reach but he's got one more piece of information about what kind of content his audience is interested in. As a creator this can be especially valuable because producing video after video, the comments on these channels provide feedback and insight into what his subscribing audience and potential subscribing audience wants to see more of. One thing to also remember is that sailing is only really a way of life in few countries France where the country culturally views it as a great sport to grow up on because singlehanded sailing teaches independence and double handing teaches teamwork. As such many in France grow up on following races like the Vendeé Globe. Outside of France, following the competitive side of the sport is far more rare. If you stick strictly to just to content about racing, especially races mostly take place in France and occasionally Spain or Italy, you're going to limit your audience and limit the ceiling on how much growth you can get out of your KZbin channel revenue. Adding instructional content has the potential to broaden your reach beyond those that sail the waters in which these races take place. I don't live in France myself, so it's harder to get hooked on watching videos about all these races in France. On the other hand, it's clear Hugo here has a bunch of sailing knowledge that I'm not seeing on other sailing channels that are more dedicated to the cruising lifestyle. He's racing and sailing with a bunch of racers and it would be valuable to be able to learn from both Hugo and others Hugo is sailing with. Instructional content also becomes another way for people to find the channel when searching around KZbin. Many of my "how do I ..." searches begin on KZbin, just like many of my physical product purchases begin on Amazon. If you're trying to increase subscriber count and revenue, a funnel analysis of how your audience is finding your channel can be quite valuable. A second funnel of how they are turning into a subscriber is also valuable and a third funnel on how they turn from a subscriber to a paying customer is also valuable. Lastly, you should look up the definition of blackmail since it does not mean what you think it means. If you did use that word very intentionally, you're just driving off someone that could be a potential paying audience member. My comment like this one here was written entirely in good faith because feedback is valuable. Maybe you should try letting Hugo speak for himself. If he's not interested, then I'm happy to stop commenting.

Thanks again I love sailing by myself. Be safe have fun God bless you.
