The quickness or closeness of the words might have resulted in us hearing "the" in both the instances. They need to establish a hard rule on adding "the" and "a" on titles. I've seen every match and it's seemingly a coin toss whether they enforce it or not. From what I understood, adding or missing "the" or "a" only mattered if there was another movie with that name.

Mark literally said he heard "the girl with the pearl earring" (which is what was said) and then after discussing the challenge, said he heard "the girl with a pearl earring". Have a cheap camera rolling for playback. It's embarrassing to screw up a challenge like that, as well as very unfair to Shazam. Also, Snyder knew immediately that Andreyko had screwed up, because he started lying like he always does trying to cover it up.

Mark is good at the banter but far and away the WORST judge. He spews incorrect information about past matches, he doesn't keep track of perfect scores, heck he doesn't even know what question he's on half of the time. And worst, Mark lets the most wrong answers slide. They need an actual judge off camera whose sole job is to do all the judging without having to worry about the banter. I maintain that "Sectrumsempra" may have won Smets his match against Dhandapani. It's ridiculous that these competitors spend so much time studying just to get screwed by judges who aren't paying attention.

The Challenge was valid in my opinion. Omitting or adding a 'The' changes the film AND the name of the painting lol. It ultimately didn't matter but I could see both arguments but lead towards Brendon's. If you can't mispronounce a difficult name even while still knowing who the answer is (I agree with this rule also though, don't get me wrong) you shouldn't be able to add or omit 'the' instead of 'of' or 'a'. But that's nitpicky I guess lol.

Oh man what a match that was!! Such an insanely high level of competition at this level of the tournament. The Odd Couple played a very good match and were just straight up outmatched when it came down to it today. To see Shazam! break the points record even while navigating through opponents choice is really impressive. You could also clearly see just how much this mattered to Brendan in particular throughout this match, with him seeming nearly in a state of panic as they answered each question and the raw emotion as they won this match. You can tell just how much he's invested in the game and that's pretty awesome. You could also tell he felt bad about making that challenge, and he really shouldn't feel bad about that one because that's part of the game and that's a fair shot to take when every point matters. It's also just crazy to think that brendan is still a rookie this season. With this deep teams run combined with his singles run this year, i kind of have to wonder if he can make a bit of a run at ROTY if they manage to take the belts at spectacular. It would obviously depend on whether we see Paul end the season undefeated in singles, but Paul did lose in the first round of the teams tournament so you can kind of see the argument start to emerge there that Brendan has had a bit more well rounded of a year (if he wins the teams belt). We'll see. Also leads me to wonder if we might see rookies holding belts in all 3 divisions when all is said and done at spectacular.. As far as my bracket goes, it's been a bit spotty but my finals match up/winner prediction is still very much in play here, and i'm feeling pretty confident after seeing Shazam! break the points record in these conditions.

No no no. That's not why. "The" does not matter at the beginning UNLESS it's a one/two word title. So "The Thing" vs "Thing" matters. "Shawshank Redemption" vs. "The Shawkshank Redemption" doesn't. But Shazam still should have won the challenge. Marc with "(The) Girl with THE Pearl Earring" compared to "(The) Girl with A Pearl Earring." Because the the/a was in the middle, it DOES matter. As much as I love Mark Ellis, his challenge decisions has been pretty off lately. Brandon did say at 29:17 that it's not _The_ Girl with A Peal Earring, it's just "Girl with A Pearl Earring." It's a good thing they won, despite the setback. After Atchity's commendable display of chivalry in a recent match, I would have expected Andreyko to decline the 2 points, but I can understand his passion for winning and love of competition. I disagree with Roxy's "D-bag" comment though, Shazam! had every right to challenge the answer and should have won it. It's ridiculous how many times the rules for the article "the" has been debated over and over again in this league but the rulings are still inconsistent. Yes, I'm #triggered because I love this game so much! Ugh!
