Not 100% sure but I believe it's the one against MMA? I actually thought this video would be about that since that was such a surreal moment where everything looked perfect and then.... he rq'd.
@incoherence
@incoherence 5 жыл бұрын
The Idra/MMA game is perhaps the perfect summation of Idra as a player: he has too much confidence in his reading of the game state, and if his read is wrong, he looks silly and then rages about how terrible the opposing player was to win in that way. He scouts MMA's third command center building in the base, doesn't see MMA make one of the most baffling blunders in pro SC2 history, but *does* see MMA building a new command center at the gold base: at that point he assumes without evidence that MMA has flown the 3rd down to one of the south bases and is now building his 4th. So he shoves his army across the map in an attempt to crush MMA before he gets the 4th up, gets an okay but not crushing trade, and believes (wrongly) that he is a base behind and therefore screwed.

i mean "Starcraft was just a way to beat people" is a sentence that shoudl make him shunned by the gaming community. I mean, it does imply that he doesn't care about the game, the community, or anything except winning. He was good at something and used it to fell better than other people. I'm glad he managed as a person to realise why he was doing that and moved on to something (liffting/fitness) that bring him the samefullfilement without having to stomp other.

My favorite Idra's theory is that he claimed he lost cuz his opponent was trash, and he complained repeatedly that his opponent was so trash that made him lose the game. (From some prespectives perhaps true. It's like you destroyed AI's mineral line but AI doesn't care. It base trades you while the program tells it to rebuild workers and lost structures. And finally you lose.)

It's an awesome game. Check out Winter (WinterStarcraft on KZbin, WinterGaming on Twitch). His stream/videos are very friendly to the newcomer, where he does tutorials and build guides, and casts bronze league games and stuff. Watching those bronze league casts really helps give you confidence to ladder, because you can see there are other people around your skill level still playing the game, and there are people out there who you can beat, even though the game has been going for so many years. Once you're more comfortable in the game, and are looking for more skilled high level games/commentary, I highly recommend PiG (x5_PiG on twitch, PiG on KZbin). Though his stream kinda assumes you know what's going on, so you might be lost without background knowledge on the game. Hope to see you in the SC2 community. It's recently gone free-to-play, so there's nothing to lose just checking it out. :)

I fucking miss Starcraft esports so much, on god bro. State of the Game, Day9 Daily, 4am GSL and Kespa games, all of it bro, Destiny, CombatEX, CatZ, Deezer, Incontrol, Nony Tyler, Scarlett. Why does it feel so far away bro, I love these kinds of videos that showcase that past. Thank you and please make more.

Greg wasn't really that bad, he just had a tendency to get salty when he lost, which isn't really unique in the gaming community. He shit talked a lot but overall, especially once he started playing team games, he was super chill. Source: was friends with and played with Greg for about a year in between his SC2 / HotS careers, taught him DotA2 with a couple others. Before becoming friends with him I thought he was just a toxic BM piece of shit. Just figured I'd throw it out there since people really hyper focus on his (admittedly) cocky attitude and shitty behaviour from earlier in his SC2 career.

One part of the story that didn't get explained in this video is that Idra was infamous for rage quitting. He consistently quit games before final battles were actually fought if he thought he was at a disadvantage. It really was a form of arrogance on his part when he did it. That part of his personality absolutely played a role in him not playing out that battle and realizing that those were hallucinations.

@nathangamble125

Usually there are. In some Korean starcraft leagues the rules were really strict, and players weren't allowed to use chat for anything other than typing "g" to surrender and "p" to request a pause. Some players even got disqualified for typing the wrong number of gs or ps (most famously Leta, for typing "pp" instead of "ppp"), or typing it in Korean characters.
