Hi Scotters, i read somewhere that you can build a mesh cage to put over the hive that is the right gauge for the bees to pass through but not the wasps, perhaps you could try that?
@michaelwerner343010 ай бұрын
Saludos desde Chiapas, México. I believe there is a KZbin video about making the bee hive entry so that the wasps/hornets can't get in, but the bees can defend, attack and kill the hornets.😢

I love your “normal” life. It makes me miss my crazy busy life when my 3 boys were young and running around. Enjoy all those crazy, wonderful moments. And thank you for sharing your everyday life. It sure brings a smile to me.

It was nice to see Betsy's personality coming out more. She and Wilfred are usually so quiet. You definitely have to take the time just to get caught up on things from time to time. The first week of school is the perfect time for it. You can roll up your sleeves and dig in without any interruptions.

Loved this day-in-the-life video ! How about an orchard for the bottom field? Low maintenance if you’re very busy with other things. Which you are! Your kids are a delight- and have fantastic accents when speaking Portuguese . I hope they’ve all settled into school well. Have a great week.

I'm positive I don't need to tell you how blessed you guys are, but here it goes anyway... Your children are adorable, Pudding and Crumbs are rockstars and the property is looking more comfortable with each video release. Can't wait for future updates on the main building! Keep the wholesome content coming, you are doing such a great job on this channel... Lots of love from Leiria, Portugal!

Loved this video! You guys are a breath of fresh air! The kids are so sweet. I love their interactions, the girls cutting up the figs was hilarious! I really have to hand it to you living in a small space and still being so cheerful and everyone getting along! There were days when my 4 kids were growing up that our 2 storey house didn't seem big enough to separate squabbling kids! Whatever you're doing, keep doing it!!❤

I reckon that field would be perfect as an orchard, especially with the water close by. Because it is flat and long it would be quite easy to net the trees if need be. Look at trees grafted onto dwarf rootstock then you don't have to worry about them getting so tall that they become a problem. Easiest way to net is to build a frame around the tree - 4 x t-posts in the ground with 2" polypipe fitted over one post then over the top of the tree into the opposite t-post, repeat for 2 remaining posts then lay netting over the top and hold it down on the ground with rocks. I use this on my own trees and also use a frame made of posts and polypipe to make a frame for my veg garden which looks like a poly tunnel with the plastic replaced with netting. Cheap way of protecting trees and veg.

I was a bit shocked to see you all still sleep in the van, with coffin holes for each kid. Presumably it can get a bit hot in there. But then we see how your kids are actually thriving in this setting. And they are getting both a solid foundation for life as they live off the land, plus they will soon be totally bi-lingual, because learning Portuguese at that age is so much easier. Great job on getting them all in the same local school. Perhaps make sure you get a photo of you all crammed in the van as a single sleeping space - so the kids can remember how it was before they got more rooms in the new house. I have a glut of pears at my allotment, and am now wondering about making some pear jam. So, thanks for the inspiration.

Hello beautiful family, I really like your joy and good disposition, I also really like the chores on the farm and the new things you build, but as a Portuguese person I am amazed at the children speaking a little of Portuguese words. Hugs, see you next time.

Oh my goodness, the first 4 minutes of this video touched my heart in so many ways. It remimded me of a Portuguese word I learned years ago - "saudades" - meaning , the state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something or someone. A good thing. I look forward to your videos every week. 💖

Hello to your beautiful children from Ontario Canada. I always cringe when I see people yanking tree fruit from the tree and taking leaves and buds with it. You grasp the fruit and twist...therefore you are preserving and not damaging the bud that will grow the fruit next year.

Another idea for fruit is process the fruit like jam, add sugar to taste. cook until soft, liquidise, then spread out thinly on baking paper on cookie trays. Put out in direct sun until dry to the touch but pliable, then roll up. Delicious and keeps well. You can also dry figs, squashed flat, in the sun but you’d need to sprinkle some sulphur on them so they keep their colour. Same with apricots. Good in kid’s lunch boxes. Greetings from England.

Wonderful video as usual! But guys, you really need to work out some more protected, comfortable indoors space real soon, I really don't think you're ready for the inordinate amount of rain that is expecting you in that region starting October... As much as I love watching the big projects moving along, I mostly watch you for you and your life style, how you are making your land a home, and how you are adapting to a new way of life, so please don’t feel like you can only make big project episodes, I love watching the normalcy of the life you are building there, plus this is your life so take your time and enjoy all of the memories you are creating, the uk mentality is to work now, work hard and if you can enjoy your retirement ! We should be working to enjoy the life we have in the here and now, so dont do that uk thing of working so hard to get all this stuff done as soon as possible and then maybe if your not too exhausted you can enjoy it but really you can’t because you “have to get the next project started !! it just doesn’t work over there. You are doing a fantastic job of showing us snippets of your life over there, how you are making it work and how to adapt to living in a new country. I can’t wait too see what you’ve been up to every week and just love your little family, just don’t stress about video content being the big stuff because most of us love the little stuff more, it’s like fantastic people watching from the comfort of your own sofa 😂. Till next time much love from Devon❤
