The drop test for oil pump gears is ridiculous. Drop a camshaft and it does the same. The infamous tick is a tiny percentage and there is a reason why Shelby & Roush recommend 5w-50 oil. Lose the weasel piss warranty oil. I think you already know the above and like you said to keep the rpm’s below 7,500 and occasional bursts, not constantly drag racing, and one will be fine. I agree with Aesir07 comments👍

Totally agree with you. Harmonic force on a part vs sheer impact on a focused point are completely different. Also agree with the oil. 5W-30 and above seems to fare far more well than anything 5W-20. Hell, the track packs came with 5W-50 from the factory and the internals are nearly identical. Thanks for stopping by.

They have plenty of power . Drive sensible and maintain service your fine. If you want a racing engine just go build one.

Stock Coyote oil pump gears are not aluminum, they are steel.

It's piston slap. It's common and these engines are rock solid, albeit noisy. I've had several and they've always help up throughout various degrees of solid punishment. I use 5w50 and a moly additive. Keep my oil changed every 2k and only use synthetic. The slap comes from the way the piston walls are treated from. The factory. It's all over the forums so I'm trying to understand why it's said Ford doesn't know. They most certainly do. Regardless - these are solid engines well designed and you've nothing to worry about with proper maintenance. Especially if you've a tendency to pound them. It's what they're made for. Just cover your ass with the resources at hand. You'll be fine.

Definitely agree with you there man. I always thought it was interesting that Ford never said anything about it, but I think they realize it would cost a ton of money to "properly" fix it and just released the TSB that said it was normal, which the majority of people who have it can attest, that it's fine. I was mentioning to Eric below about the oil weights etc as well. I look at the coyote tick as just one of the engine's quirks tbh. Mine has close to 80K miles and it's done it with no issues to performance or reliability. I'll have to make a video of the car come to think of it lol

@@jeffmartin2675 I do agree. - I have 2017 Grand Sport - while it's an amazing car - I LOVE my GT350 - it just speaks to my soul. - I also have the privilege to own a 2021 MACH1 - Absolute mayhem and a grin inducing BEAST. - My cars are my retirement fund and I hope to drive them well into my old age. - I'm 59 and drive like I'm 19 again. Ty FORD and GM! - American, baby! - Be safe and let's put together a CAR show! - Would love to meet everyone. - Aesir -

@@aesir0784 Oh wow, how do you like the GT350 vs the mach 1? I'd love to have either, but I plan on getting a GT350 one day, it's imo one of the best mustangs ever built. Enjoy them as they should be! A big car show would be great. Down the line if this takes off at all, I'll gladly host one

OPGs aren't needed for big power. People have gone 8s and 7s with unopened coyotes, right down to the stock OPGs and crank sprocket. Just don't hit the limiter and you'll never have OPG failure. Same with the crank sprocket. No reason to hit a rev limiter anyway, that's a clear sign of someone who can't drive

I bought a Vortech supercharger kit for $8300 and oil pump gears and crank sprocket for $300 and had everything installed for $4000. Got 600 WHP on my 2020 Mustang GT. The car was 47K so I have almost 60K invested. It's a Mustang GT premium with the PP1 and the manual.

I'm sure you were laughing like a kid when you opened it up after the Vortech install. The crazy thing is with the gen 3 engines, you could turn that up if you ever wanted without worry, but personally, 600 is the sweet spot. Gotta pay to play and now you have that extra added insurance now. Smart like your name.

Great vid. I was disappointed when Ford made the S550 where you have to saw the exhaust off to install axle back mufflers :/

Really? I replace my stock exhaust with a cat back and the whole thing just unbolted at the cat but yeah, if you just want mufflers you’d need a saw.

None of the parts are an issue if you don't supercharge over 650hp. Stock engines have almost no issues. Typewriter tick is oil pressure related. Exacerbated by the oil bypass in 2018+ for better CAFE standards. Best guess is below 30psi, the HLA's are slightly deflated, causing an intermittent tick that has no effect on engine life or reliability.
@Wooley689

Typewriter tick, slack in timing chain which is allowing chain to tap on cover, most times though a header leak of some sort.
