Good idea in theory, but age is not a concept centered around time zones.
@snowangelnc
@snowangelnc 2 жыл бұрын
@@crypticii3431 That's why it's weird. Since it's not centered around time zones, your legal age and actual age in relationship to someone else may not match up. A baby born in Tokyo at the time I'm writing this will have his birth recorded as 11:30 am on January 9. Let's say there's one being born now named Yoshi. One hour from now a baby born in New York will have his birth recorded as 10:30 pm on January 8. Let's name this one John. Ten years from now both boys move to the same city. It could be New York, Tokyo, Paris, Rio, Sydney, doesn't matter. They become friends. They go to each other's birthday parties. No matter where they are they'll still go by the dates on their birth certificates, meaning they will be celebrating John's birthday first and celebrating Yoshi's birthday the next day, even though Yoshi was the one that was born first.

The concept of time exists, we’re just using it In a dumb way in terms of time zones. We basically over complicated something simple. As explained in the video it could’ve been 24 simple time zones that are the same size and distance apart. But no everyone just had to over complicate it and now we have 24 time zones with fucked up borders and sizes.

Newfoundland time is a half hour time zone. If it's 6:30 in NFLD, it's 6:00 in the rest of Atlantic Canada, including most of Labrador. St Pierre et Miquelon, the French islands to the south of Newfoundland, are an hour ahead of Atlantic time. This means that, even though a lot of the island of Newfoundland extends further east than St Pierre, the French islands are still a half hour ahead.
@stampyhead
@stampyhead 2 жыл бұрын
I'm surprised you didn't mention the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are half an hour ahead of the Atlantic time zone, but if you travel west to the tiny island of St. Pierre they are another half an hour head in time.

I remember a trip we took from Honolulu to Nadi. We left Hawaii on Sunday night and landed in Fiji Tuesday morning. Then, that Friday evening we departed Fiji and arrived back in Honolulu the same day, Friday morning. That day happened to also be my birthday, which somehow made it that much more fun! There was little to no jet lag (other than flying redeye both ways) because there are only 2 hours difference between the two locations - it’s the day that changes.

In France, not only do we have to put up with an awkward time (which is an hour too early, like Spain), we have to keep changing it twice a year. Meaning it's still dark when we get up at 7h in the morning in winter, and doesn't get dark until about 9 at "night" in summer.

You forgot to mention back in the 1960s when you could take a 35 mile bus route from Steubenville, Ohio to Moundsville, West Virginia where you would have to change your watches 7 times, but that’s probably not so recent I think the weirdest time zones are 1. China having one time zone across the whole country 2. Spain and France being one hour ahead of GMT, then becomes two hours ahead of GMT in the summer 3. Most of Alaska falling in the wrong time zone, where Alaska should ideally span between 9 and 13 hours behind GMT, Juneau should use GMT-09:00, Anchorage and Fairbanks should use GMT-10:00, Nome and Unalaska should use GMT-11:00, Adak should use GMT-12:00, and finally Cape Wrangell should use GMT-13:00, Alaska kinda reminds me of China where it should ideally use 5 time zones, rather than most of Alaska uses 1 time zone 4. Arizona during daylight saving time has most of Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, Navajo Nation inside Arizona observes daylight saving time, and the Hopi Reservation like the rest of Arizona does not observe daylight saving time 5. Australia has too many half hour time zones, Western Australia uses UTC+8 where Queensland and New South Wales and Victoria use UTC+10 and Northern Territory and South Australia use UTC+9:30 instead of just UTC+9 6. Nepal uses UTC+05:45 rather than GMT+06:00 7. Russia has a lot of time zones in the wrong place, eastern Russia uses UTC+12 which is right 8. Argentina falls into GMT-04:00 but uses UTC-03:00

I always wondered what it was like living on the border. One person's sunset is 8pm but a few minutes away it's 9pm. If it's late and your restaurants or CVS's are closed can you just drive across the border and stuff is still open for another hour? Do you have to turn off the automatic time on your phone and set it to a specific time zone? Last year I was staying on the border of AZ and UT and my phone was going off a UT tower so I had to switch it to AZ time.

First, if you believed the earth is a globe, then you must also believe the big bang theory and the vast universe, planets and stars as sun alike in a far distance and so on according to what you've been taught in school. And while flat earthers don't believe all those but only the earth as a realm and sun is local and does the rotation to give local time accurately. Therefore there's nothing to debunk in the beginning since the two are different. If you you're globe then go, if you're flat then also go.

Gotta love how this affects IB exams. Because the IB is taken in different countries (and therefore time zones) across the world, and the IB authority doesn’t want students to share answers with students in other countries who haven’t taken that exam yet, this leads to some interesting timings. For one, there are two separate exam seasons every year to account for different hemispheres and countries, and the exams are split up into three time zones in which students from each zone take the exam at the same time. Therefore, for a student in the UK, they will have to take an exam at 8am because students in France and Germany will start at 9am and in Finland and Romania start at 10am - so good luck to the British and Portuguese who have to wake up unreasonably early while Romanians get more time to sleep and get prepared. I’m sure it gets more complicated in areas of the world where the time zones are themselves more complicated it’s just I wanted to express my annoyance at this system.

Truth to be told, as someone who grew up in China, I thought time zones in the US is just overcomplicating things back in the days. Why don't just use one time in one country? Also in the population of the US is far more equally distributed. In China almost 80% of the population would still be using Being time if China had perfect timezones. So it makes sense to just make the remaining 20% use the time as well. In the US even though the East coast is the most densely populated part it's nowhere near by the same margin. The US has 2 coasts so it has a second densely populated section on the other side of the nation while the west part of China is pretty much deserted. It also has a lot more people scattered in the middle since the US heartland is very fertile. In China the most fertile places are in the South and therefore still roughly in the same timezone as Being is.

I have spent a total of about 8 weeks in Arizona for work in recent years and had no idea about the reservations doing something different from the rest of the state. That's pretty funny.

I live in Georgia, USA, and our state government passed a bill recently that would keep us on "day light time" year round. Personally, I like the idea. However, it's not completely up to the state of Georgia as the US Congress gets to decide if our time zone change will take place. I live on the very western edge of the Eastern time zone, right next to Alabama, which is in the Central time zone. If the change happens, it means that in the fall and winter, Alabama will be 2 hours behind us, which is odd because I could literally walk 2 hours back in time from my home. Nevertheless, I do hope that the change does take effect, as I like daylight time over standard time.

Is weird, toyota pulled out all of their contracts with game companies last year That means that there isn't ANY Toyota car on the most recent racing games, even the dorifto AE86 got axed.

I am from China and now live in Canada, having no problem for multi-timezones because you are not traveling across provinces everyday, right? A single timezone in one country may not be a really bad thing though, because my friends who work in Xinjiang told me that they go to work from 11am - 7pm, problem solved. As for summer Daylight Saving Time, it once created so many chaos when China applied it during the early 90s, and people are late for work/schools, missed their train/plane. Eventually government had to change back after 3 years.... sad
