Welcome to Xtreme Chest Locked, the series where we take on Runescape's hardest challenges whilst being limited to only chests.
This means EVERY aspect of the game, we can not train agility without using chests, obtain items without using chests, or use shops as they are not chest related.

Hey when you think about it, during the dragon slayer 2 quest you need to open chests to piece together notes behind Vorkath on Ungael. So in theory, technically, you could complete animal magnetism and Dragon slayer 2 until that point or something, when you think about it. EDit: Apparently I forgot, they are some machinery and such BUT, you still need to open chests during the House on the Hill part where you assemble the map of Lithrken, so replace the earlier point about the ungael part with this the point still stands eh?

My ruleset (for me to enjoy the account atleast) is 'something that unlocks an openable, repeatable chest that gives me loot' I guess the house on the hill stuff kind of falls into it ... 👀

You can use quartz from dt2 to open a chest in the main dt2 room

In the future if you do this, decant the two dose prayer potions into 4 so it only counts as one item kept on death to die with more supplies kept :)

You might get use out of those ice barrage sacks yet! Desert treasure 2 unlocks the chests at the bottom of the ancient vault which you open with the crystals from the bosses! Repeatable and also you need Desert treasure 1 for it :p

I can’t remember if I’ve heard anything about throughout this series yet…. But have you considered Ali’s shop that requires the Feud and Rogue Trader partial completion, for a source of runes? Since it’s required to solve a sudoku puzzle to “unlock” the box/chest for him every time you need to shop? Are you able to complete the pre-requisite quests/gather required items?

The muddy chest is actually my favorite chest. I have been free-to-play for my first three years in Runescape back in the days when nobody had a clue, and finding a muddy key and the corresponding chest in the wilderness on your own was such an amazing journey.

Bit late to the episode, but two things that helped me with the rogues chest while I was leveling thieving there was to use high risk worlds with nothing on and suicide to rogues and claim the loot from death. Not sure where that lands in your restrictions and I had a wildy obelisk in the house so your mileage may vary. Awesome series, such a creative idea!

I just binged your entire series of this (to this point). Its a great idea for a "challenge run" (for lack of a better term) that isn't overly gimmicky. I haven't played any sort of RS in over a decade. So its really interesting to see you getting use out of content that was considered "Dead" even from around the time of the 2007 backup. Also your patience is inhuman not only for the thieving, but also for doing slayer and 70 melee stats with an addy scim! I remember how impatient i was to unlock dragon longsword, let alone barrows, and that was with good gear. You suffering with such a subpar weapon is dedication. I'm sure the temptation to "find" a rune scimitar somewhere must have been overwhelming, ha ha.

Do boxes count as chests? Considering coffins do, boxes surely do? Also when killing mammoths last video there's an alter just north of you where you can restore prayer rather than bringing lots of food. Also for barrows if you're able to complete the medium CAs you can use the hilt to stop prayer drain in barrows crypts.

Good questions! 1. Boxes are not, if you do some googling I can't seem to find any reference to boxes/crates being chests, but coffins are derived from it along the lined of 'a chest for a corpse' and the word is derived from latin for chest or something, also my own enjoyment, as allowing wintertodt/soul wars would kinda ruin the account for me a little bit! 2. Good thought... I'm a big dumb dumb! 3. I can theoretically complete CA's as I do content, but I cannot claim the reward as it's not a chest

Incorrect! Coffins are counted as chests for the purpose of this series, there are 3 reasons: 1. If you google it, coffins are literally caskets, with a definition to match and the latin is derived from chest 2. Adding ToA as an end goal would be much less hype if I couldn't get purples 3. Stuff like ogre coffins exist, which are interesting and nowhere near overpowered 4. Crates are too strong and cannot be argued as chests, so coffins good, crates bad

If you're tying to conserve runes dont use ardy tele, it uses 2 law runes each

You can also do dessert treasure becuase don’t forget for one of the gems you need to pick the chest

Nope! It's pulled from a guardian, not a chest so I didn't include it, would've been great though!

Ardy tele uses 2 laws, Camelot is the most xp with 1 law.

It was, but with the staffs I would've had to use air runes to alch and teleport to cammy properly - so opted to do that instead as laws are very very easy to get now!

Well muddy key was buffed, they removed the dagger, pizza and coins and added larran's key and blighted supplies and increased the amount of runes and bars. A totally shit buff though.
