As a mechanical draftsman, if you want to halve a fraction of an inch, just double the bottom number. So half of 3/4 is 3/8, half of 5/8 is 5/16, etc.

I worked for a prefab wall place one summer and our outside jig was next to train tracks. When the trains would go by we would scream A10 Warthog and everyone would hold back safety head on nail guns and rapid fire the train. Ting ting ting ting. As you can imagine, i also got shot in face with nailgun one day. Ohhhh the memories.

I was the guy building with him😀. Those weren’t true rafters- a truss construction. Ceiling joists run plate to plate. Rafters run from peak to plate in stick frame construction.
