It'll never happen. You need 6 votes from the owners to veto a city getting a team. The Texans and Cowboys front offices won't want a team in SA because they'll lose revenue from fan bases in those cities. As much as we like to joke about Jerry Jones he actually does have a lot of pull with the owners and now Cal McNair is on some key committee i'm not sure what it is or why it's key but he is. So between them the two owners could pull four more votes to veto.

Plus factor in Hawall is halfway across the Pacific Ocean about 2,000 miles away from San Francisco and with only 1 million people in the whole stste of Hawaii with a small amount of expensive real estate, I am not seeing how an NFL team could succeed in Hawaii.

As it happens, a new Aloha Stadium is will commence construction in 2023 - Honolulu city officials have ordered the current one condemned, and the demolition will be in late 2022. There will also be an entertainment district around the new stadium for what that's worth. Also, they have mentioned the NFL playing there in some capacity - I will state, for the record, that a Hawaii NFL franchise would be one of the coolest things ever.

A Harold Hamm led ownership group should buy the Chargers and move them to Oklahoma City. In partnership with the city, put together another MAPS bill that provides public and private funding for a stadium in the State Fair Park which has room for parking etc. as well as Interstate highway and major thoroughfare access. While the stadium is constructed the University of Oklahoma would/should workout an interim deal to allow the team to use Gaylord Memorial Stadium. The city is ripe for another major league sport and the Chargers would pair well with the Thunder.

At one time, there was a Canadian law that prevented an American based football organization from placing a team in a Canadian city. It was why the Toronto Northsmen of the WFL were forced to move to Memphis and become the Southmen. I do not know if that law is still in effect.

Portland would be great but they currently have no place to play. The same is true of most of the other teams on your list. San Diego, San Antonio and St. Louis have stadiums but none of them are up to NFL standards which is why the Rams and Chargers left and the Alamo Dome is old and needs renovation. The Rogers Centre is not ideal for football either so the stadium situation would have to be addressed with all the cities you mention and the proximity of the Buffalo/Toronto would need to be resolved. Columbus, Austin and Orlando deserve consideration and the Bay area San Francisco/Oakland/SanJose needs to be considered now that the 49ers are no longer in San Francisco since they relocated about 20 miles away again a new stadium would be an issue.

St Louis has been shafted twice by the NFL and the last deal with the Rams has left a bad taste in many of the locals mouth. Current Rams owner is hated there plus the city just was awarded a new MSL team which they are building a new stadium for. Lesson..only Los Angeles can lose three NFL teams and get two back.

Here's what would need to happen. The NFL would have to expand by 4 teams to even make it logical. St. Louis and San Diego Diego easily get teams, and possibly Oakland too (if they can get a new stadium). I don't know about San Antonio, Hawaii, or Portland though (The markets are too small. ). As for Toronto, the Canadian government would likely threaten to pass legislation to block any NFL team in Canada (This happened in the 70s with the World Football League.) to protect the CFL. I could see the NFL maybe trying to put a second team in Chicago though before trying a new market. The problem with finding new markets for the NFL is that they might have to share the market with the college game, and markets that house a storied college team (Birmingham, Columbus, Lincoln, Oklahoma City, etc.) are going to have a hard time bringing people to see an expansion team that may not have a winning season right away when there's a winning college team there too.

Another problem with expansion is lack of talent. Only half of all the colleges in the U.S produce NFL talent so adding another team would make talent finding even harder. Let me give you an example of this, look at the Houston Texans, they get the low end of the deal and now they are beginning to pick up their feet now but also the Jags have picked up their feet a few years ago but a lot of people on this rosters are average 70 overall players with a few of them being higher.

Yeah, I don't like the idea of a London team. Nobody ever said that the new ELAF was competing with the NFL, but a London based NFL team and ownership would be a reckless move. Birmingham, Honolulu and San Diego would be more viable options, but they lack suitable facilities (in terms of capacity). NFL football will only go back to Oakland barring they find a way to construct a suitable facility. This why relegation/promotion is better system. The promotion and relegation system is not about small teams playing in the big leagues but about all cities getting teams. these city deserves a team either divisi 1 or division 2. Almost all soccer leagues outside america have division 2 which is almost as interesting as division 1.

I would make a rule in which all NFL franchises must move to a new zipcode, at least 100 miles away from the next nearest city. The Jets are not a better team than the Giants, period. One Super Bowl victory in 60 years of existence is not worth them staying around for another team to make use of their talent. Los Angeles doesn't need two teams in any sport, and yet they have the ANGELS, DODGERS, RAMS, CHARGERS, CLIPPERS LAKERS AND USC not to mention their hockey franchises. The Rams should stay as they were their before. The Chargers need to find a home either in the great plains or San Antonio

I don't see why the Chargers would ever return to San Diego after how much their team has grown in value since 2017.....people judge based off "fan reception" but that doesn't matter in 2020....it's based on how much revenue you can generate and in Los Angeles the Chargers are generating more cash than in San Diego....just a fact. And the CFL would probably never allow a NFL team to venture into Toronto especially with the Argonauts attendance floundering. It's a better chance that the Argonauts would join the NFL Than the CFL relinquishing a market to the NFL.

there will not be an NFL team in Toronto, not because of nationality, but because of legal. the NFL already gives the CFL a bit of money every year to help avoid getting called out for being the monopoly it really is, an NFL team in Canada would destroy the CFL's already fragile popularity and land an anti-trust charge right square in the NFL's lap.

St. Louis, San Diego, and Oakland, sure. San Antonio, I could see that. Hawaii? The logistics of it would be too disruptive. Toronto? It's the NATIONAL Football League. Not the Continental Football League. I'd rather see the Blue Jays move to Tennessee than more American sports leagues expanding into Canada. Portland? I don't really see it. Portland is in the Seattle market. They don't really need a team. If all of New England can share the Patriots, and both Carolinas the Panthers, the Pacific Northwest ought to be able to live on a single team. Overall, I think NFL teams are better distributed than MLB teams (only other sport I follow). MLB needs to move out of Canada, and needs to spread to the South, which only has a single team (Atlanta). I think the best bet is to move the Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays to Memphis/Nashville, Charlotte, or New Orleans. Maybe the Marlins too, they don't have much of a fan base, but that could be because their ownership is even worse than the Mets' ownership, which is really saying something.
