I was taking 10mg of amlodipine for HBP and my legs were pretty weak. I didn't know how much longer I was going to be able to keep walking. I changed how I eat and my med was reduced to 2.5mg and my legs are not nearly as weak as they were. I cut out a lot of junk food and eat mostly what is good for us. I was able also to get off of my cholesterol medicine finofibrate which I was taking for high triglycerides by cutting way down on sugar. Most of the sugar I consume now is what is in fruit and honey. No cakes or candy. I drink different teas which are very nutritious and haven't had any soda for over 2 years. I lost 20 some pounds. I now get up most days and stay up till bedtime without taking a nap during the day. I thank God for helping me with all of this.

@AriePharmD4 ай бұрын
@jillmadigan9841 Gabapentin shouldn’t cause neuropathy because it’s used to treat neuropathy. Chances are you need to get on a good vitamin B complex (specifically, one with at least 100mg of thiamine). Bronson Labs makes one called “Vitamin B100”. Diabetics and consumers of a high carbohydrate diet are at increased risk of thiamine deficiency. This is because thiamine is used (a cofactor) to break down carbohydrates into energy. Thus, the thiamine deficiency is from the body’s excessive use of thiamine breaking down sugars and carbohydrates. I hope this helps you. To your better health, Arie

That's totally different. Your pancreas is already damaged from something, they aren't producing enough insulin. If you let your sugar get too high, the cells in the blood vessels will absorb those sugars and basically explode. Basically the inside of your blood vessels start flaking off..

Also check out the book Glucose Revolution. Written by a French scientist, Jessie Inchauspe. She had a severe back injury when she was young and very strange symptoms after that which a developing glucose sensitivity eventually made worse. Later after college she studied glucose and then checked out research on it and found some VERY interesting things about glucose spikes and many ways to manage them. Turns out it is not so much the sugar itself that is the problem, it is how much and how quickly it enters the bloodstream. And just eating veggies (like broccoli and celery - not potatoes or sweet veggies) before eating carbs and sugars, does a lot to slow the absorbtion of sugar into the blood. There is a lot more to it, but gives you an idea.
@Bryan-Hensley4 ай бұрын
@@marisakennedy777 I worked in the emergency medical field for over 10 years. Natural sugars enter the bloodstream much much quicker than processed sugars or fructose corn syrup. When we showed up on a low sugar call and the patient was alert enough to drink, orange juice would work within 60 to 120 seconds. A Pepsi or a sports drink would take 10 minutes to make any difference. The only time we ever saw a sugar spike for processed sugars was when an 18 year old girl ate 200 chocolate bars to try to get her ex boyfriend's attention..

50 years ago while working in a Biochemistry lab, I was involved in a project where our standard scientific diet for lab rats had sunflower seed oil substituted for purified animal fat, as the ONLY difference between two test groups. Tracking the weight and health over many months two things became very obvious: 1/ the sunflower rats gained weight more rapidly and were more flaccid (squishy); 2/ the sunflower rats looked less healthy. On regular culling and dissection, the sunflower rats had more visceral fat round their internal organs. And finally, sunflower rats actually started dying before the normal rat lifespan during the course of the project. Needless to say, I've avoided sunflower oil products like the plague. Do you eat sunflower oil fried foods and snacks? Do you have rolls of squishy flab? Approaching my 76th birthday, I take NO PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES. Mostly down to genes, BUT I have NEVER replaced animal fat with cooking oil for any purpose and avoid snacks fried in vegetable oils.

The damage can’t be undone. But you can improve. I have a medical and science background. Nerves don’t regenerate nor do muscles. Have to prevent the damage because it’s not reversible.

I was prescribed metronidazole and ciproflaxon as a precaution, while I was on Lialda, and Omeprazole. I have ulcerative colitis and gastritis. The antibiotics were only for 10 days, but stopped at 6 days. The combination made me so sick, and nauseous. I even vomited after taking them. Bad.

I was in an induced coma more than 3 years ago. I was seriously ill with covid, and due to the resultant bacterial super infection, they pumped me full of various antibiotics. When they woke me up, after 12 days in a coma, I had peripheral neropathy. As you said, initially it was misdiagnosed or rather they kept telling me it would go away. I have recently started stimulating my Vagus Nerve by squeezing a tennis ball under each arm, in my armpit, for one minute at a time, three times a day. I am already noticing an improvement in my neuropathy.

I had tingling fingers/toes for years. Then discs c5/6 and c6/7 pinching my spinal cord. Tremendous pain and feeling like my arm was on fire, which I was prescribed gabapentin for. One week later I felt amazing. Had the discs removed 2 years later( delayed during covid). Some residual deficit but otherwise ok. Still on gabapentin, feeling fine.

I am so grateful for this information. Recently I was given Nitrofurantoin for a light case of UTI. I had never had this drug before. I am 77 years old. The first time I took it, I had a harshly painful reaction. I decided to try a second dose to rule out other possible causes. From that the reaction was much worse than the first time. After a few nights I was able to sleep with out drugs. I have been calling it allergy. But actually the symptoms can easily be labeled neuropathy. I did not think of this. Not only did my legs swell up hugely, but they were hurting like crazy. This did not bother me in the daytime. But happened as soon as I lay down to sleep. But the pain was so bad, I couldn't sleep. I do have a small amount of neuropathy all the time due to having had chemo. But I did not connect the two, as this reaction experience was wildly different than the others in intensity.

When NutraSweet first came out in the early ‘80s,I developed numbness in my feet,hands and arms. My doctors called it idiopathic. The only change was,I added the artificial sweetener to my diet. So I stopped using it immediately and it stopped getting worse. It took months to lessen and over a year go away. Apparently I had nerve damage. It was very alarming.

My neuropathy came from surgery.. Transvaginal mesh caused the entrapment of the pudendal nerve.. Neuropathy on the butt/pelvis really sucks. Soooo soooo much. As far as cipro/levoquin... I avoid those like the plague. I have a connective tissue disorder called sjogrens and it's severely damaged my shoulder. When I take either of those, I can't sleep the pain is so bad. Elevations of serum glutamic acid ( a neurotransmitter that's also an amino acid) are a major cause of distal neuropathies. Testing an amino acid panel can detect this. Changing the balance of two other amino acids allows the glutamic acid to return to normal with subsequent improvement in the neuropathy. Your list of drugs and toxins is outstanding, many thanks.
