I'm type 2 diabetic. I USED to weigh 236. I'm now down to 180. My A1C went from 11.1 to 7.1 within 4 months. And I'm NOT taking anything! How? Exercise! Walking and weightlifting. I cut out Pepsi. I went from drinking regular Pepsi to Pepsi Zero, then to water. I also have a 10-hour job that helps cut back on eating and drinking. Both my physician and dilatation don't like that I'm not taking any form of insulin, but approve of the exercise, walking, and soda elimination. I have a checkup this Friday (Aug. 23), to see where I'm at. You HAVE TO stick with it! Don't quit! 🤟

I work third shift so my sleep is totally screwed up. Sometimes I can’t sleep and have to go to work without sleeping at all. Other times I might just get a few hours of sleep. It’s interesting to hear that sleep can raise your blood sugar. Also, at 2am I’m just going to lunch.
@SugarMDs25 күн бұрын
Working third shift can definitely disrupt your sleep patterns and affect overall health, including blood sugar levels. Lack of sleep can lead to insulin resistance and higher blood sugar levels, making it even more important to prioritize rest when you can. Since you're having lunch at 2 AM, try to focus on balanced meals that include protein, healthy fats, and fiber to help stabilize your blood sugar. If possible, create a calming bedtime routine to help signal to your body that it’s time to wind down, even if you’re sleeping during the day. Small adjustments, like darkening your room and limiting screen time before bed, can also help improve your sleep quality. If sleep issues persist, consider talking to a healthcare provider for tailored strategies to manage both your sleep and blood sugar levels.

Blood sugar highest first thing in the morning (100 - 120...maybe 125) and generally drops during the day after eating, even with little activity. Sometimes is lowest in the morning after a higher carb dinner and / or eating later than usual. A lot with me seems counter-intuitive.
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
It's quite common for blood sugar levels to fluctuate, especially after eating or with activity levels. Morning highs can often be attributed to the body's natural hormonal changes that occur overnight, which can lead to increased glucose production. If you notice consistent patterns or have concerns about your levels, it might be beneficial to discuss this with your healthcare provider for tailored advice. Keep track of how different foods and activities impact your readings; that can help in managing your blood sugar more effectively!

If I eat protein instead, my stomach is really active and I have a hard time falling asleep for that reason. So it's like eat carbs before bed or no sleep for me. So I eat about 20 gr of carbs (one measured serving of cheese-its) before bed.
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience! It sounds like you’ve found a balance that works for you by eating a small serving of carbs before bed to help prevent hunger and promote better sleep. Sometimes our bodies respond differently to carbs versus protein, and it's great that you've identified what helps you avoid discomfort during the night. Everyone’s needs are a little different, so it’s important to keep tuning in to your body and adjusting as needed. If you continue to experience issues with sleep or digestion, it might be helpful to consult a healthcare professional to explore other options that may work even better for your routine.

I switched to carnivore for 6 weeks. Lost 30lbs. In week 7 I switched to ketovore, lost another 5. So mostly carnivore with a few veggies every third day. My nutritionist and my doctor absolutely hate my diet. They would rather I eat (toxic) veggies and take metformin and jardiance

Im always extremely dehydrated. I can never hydrate. Water doesnt help
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
It sounds really frustrating to deal with constant dehydration, especially when water doesn't seem to help. This could be a sign of an underlying issue, possibly related to blood sugar levels or kidney function. It might be worth speaking to a healthcare professional to explore what's causing this and find a better solution. Staying hydrated is crucial for overall health, and a doctor can help guide you toward the right approach. Take care, and I hope you find relief soon! 😊

1:42 Hi Doctor. My fasting insulin level is 17.5 MU/L and my fasting glucose level is 7.0 mmol/L. Resulting HOMA IR of 5.4. I'm taking insulin of 34 units, 1000mg metformin and 100mg vildagliptin day and night. Should I increase my medication since my IR is high ?? TQ 🙏
@SugarMDs26 күн бұрын
A HOMA-IR of 5.4 indicates significant insulin resistance, which can be concerning. It’s important to discuss medication adjustments with your healthcare provider, as they can consider your full medical history and current treatment plan. While some people may need to increase their medication dosage to manage insulin resistance effectively, this decision should be made with professional guidance to ensure safety and effectiveness. Additionally, discussing lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, may also help improve your insulin sensitivity. Please reach out to your doctor to discuss your options further. Take care!

@SugarMDsАй бұрын
It's interesting how everyone's body responds differently, especially when it comes to managing insulin levels. If you find your insulin dropping at night, it might be helpful to consult with your healthcare provider to explore adjustments in your routine. Staying in tune with your body's responses is key! Keep up the great work on your journey to better health!

So just starting to figure out things here , just diagnosed as pre diabetic, my primary care said my glucose levels were high , 🤔 now I had to fast 8 hours before getting my blood work done and all my appointments were early in the morning , my blood levels were high according to the results , I never thought about what I ate before getting the blood work done as I had figured before that in eight hours my levels should be normal or down considerably before tests 🫲🏼😳🫱🏼 they weren’t so now my doctor is reading my high levels and making his diagnosis off of it , I went and got a glucose meter and I’ll be watch my levels a lot closer to find out what’s really going on 🤔
@SugarMDsАй бұрын
It sounds like you're on the right track by taking proactive steps to monitor your blood sugar levels. Using a glucose meter will give you better insights into your daily trends and help you understand how your body responds to food and fasting. Keep up with your appointments and continue tracking your progress-this approach will be helpful in managing and improving your condition.
