I do go a little overboard when visiting people who have pets. When I come home, all of my clothes go into the wash (since the washing machine is right next to the front door) and I wash my hands all the way up to my arms before I even think of getting close to my rabbit. They usually do that in areas with low "ceilings", like under a bed or couch. They're natural burrowers, and tend to feel safe in places with where they can reach the "roof" without taking any paws off the floor/ground.

Point #2 made me lol. Sometimes I like browsing bunny content (r/rabbits, Lennon, Cinnabun, google images for baby bunnies, etc) when I'm feeling down because bunnies are one of the things that are guaranteed to make me smile. And when I do I can imagine my bunns being like "You better not be over there looking at other bunnies!" XD I'm definitely with you on the forced interaction. They're so cute and I love them so much that sometimes its a little hard to not disturb them. But rabbits are pretty smart and if its occasional and they've been with you for a while, I think they do understand that its just how we express love. And omg, definitely yes on the treats. I give my rabbits a timothy biscuit every morning when I let them out. I've been doing it for 13 years. And there have been occasions where I've run out of treats and didn't have time to buy more, so I'd miss a day. On those rare occasions, they were visibly angry at me for not giving them their morning treat

They get some activity in and have a chance to entertain themselves while free roaming. It's cute watching a bunny just hopp arround and explore. Most humans would not want to be caged up in a tini space and want to roam arround, why should not our pets get the same treatment. Giving them a safe space to go hide in for nap time or whatever is probably the best option. I've seen some happy bunnies roaming arround and have a designated area for their cage that had a bed and couple of toys in. It was so cute watching them just go inside for little nap time and comming back out after nap. It was like a little bedroom set up.

Hey, about three years ago I started following you for tips on ways to look after pearl. She was my bunny, before I got her I watched every video i could find so I could look after her right and make sure she had the best life. Your videos really helped me, and she became my best friend as I was only young I’ve grown up with her and can barely remember anytime before her. Every memory would have to be with her, or friends and family. Recently my parents got a new dog as my elderly dog is having hip problems and we live in an area where you need a dog for safety. We got a mastiff and named him Zeus, when he was a small puppy he would sit with her and give her kisses even though I knew this was wrong I was told she would be fine and I got ignored. Not long ago id woken to my sister screaming and my parents came rushing outside with trembling voices repeating “No, Zeus” I jumped up worried he’d hurt my older dog who id also had since I was two, him and pearl got along fine he didn’t ever bother her and she’d never bother him. My mum was holding me back and when she told me Zeus, our 6 month old mastiff had gotten to pearl it was horrible. He’d ripped her apart to the point I wasn’t allowed to see her. A horrible way for your best friend, and child to go. We miss you Pearl I’ve never felt more empty and lonely before. Cherish every moment you have with your fur baby as you never know if it’s the last ❤️❤️🐰 My pfp is her if your feeling curious. ❤️

@@TomikaKelly thanks, but if you have ever had a bunny and such a connection the point you’ve grown up with her. You would know that getting another rabbit isn’t a solution to everything and some people wouldn’t be ready to just replace them. Also yeah at the start they can be cheap just to buy them, but think about somewhere for them to live or if they’re free roaming all the supplies to rabbit proof your house, think about the food, toys, hay, don’t forget the yearly vaccines. If you haven’t got the income to afford that which most people probably don’t, than your bunny wont have what it needs. The puppy was separated from her but he broke into her area and got to her. ❤️❤️🐰

I recently took in a doe with all sorts of issues going on: sore hocks, obesity, dry and leathery ears from being picked up that way… the works! She had such bad sores and still has never stomped once (even when my buck insisted on asserting his dominance in her face). Instead she’s developed a “Huff!” that seems to be her equivalent of a frustrated stomp. Just over two weeks later, and she almost has all the fur back on those hind legs. Is it weird that I’m hoping to hear her stomping some time soon? It would surely be a sign that she feels good enough to do so.

I agree that getting to know your rabbit’s preferences is key! For a while when I would clean their room, I would take them to another room so I could vacuum. I noticed though that this stressed them out. They were dropping wet poops everywhere and one was exhibiting more aggressive behavior over the other. Even with a place to hide. The unfamiliar space just freaked them out too much. So now, I keep them in the room while I vacuum; I just do half of the room at a time, penning them into the other half I’m not actively cleaning. I hate that they have to listen to the vacuum noise, but they really don’t appear to mind; I don’t see any of the stress behavior I’d seen before. Everybunny is different!

When adding another Bunny it changes the dynamics you will have with your bunnies. Your relationship changes & they become more distant or independent. They will go to another bunny for comfort & you are not needed as much. The relationship changes. Just be aware of this before you adopt a second bunny. If they are spending a lot of time alone however then it may be better to adopt a companion rabbit for your rabbit so he has someone else & doesn't get lonely. Bunnies are most active in the evenings so if you have a day job your bunny will likely spend the day sleeping so they are awake for your arrival in the evenings & can do fine alone. If you work a night or swing shift & are rarely home in the evenings then a 2nd bunny will help keep them company. Each has their own personality & will delight us with it. I had 10 buns in the house (2 in the kitchen, 1 in the entryway, 4 in the living room, 1 handicap bunny in a playpen, 1 in the hallway & 1 in the bathroom) that I adopted with my late husband. The groupings above are how they got along & their designated territories. They were all free roaming, except for the disabled bunny who spent time in his playpen when we were at work. He was a paraplegic from birth & will always be our heart bunny. He spent the evenings laying on my husband's lap or over his shoulder until my husband dosed off, then he slid down off the couch to go roaming. He had plenty of entertainment in his playpen during the day with all his fleece blankets, bed & toys which the other buns would chew through the playpen to try to steal. He decided to do something about it & started to push all his buttons through the hole....that was his turf (I put a can underneath the hole to collect them). He never lacked attention since his bladder had to manually be expressed 3-4 times a day. The other bunnies got attention every time we went into their perspective areas. So no one was neglected. But the dynamics were different between having a group vs only one.

Positive reinforcement is generally the way to go with rabbits. They don't generally "get" punishment. If they are someplace you don't want them it's best to shoo them out or otherwise move them, but don't punish them. They'll quickly figure out that they are supposed to avoid those areas, and won't likely go there unless they find the area attractive or want your attention. My bun knows she isn't allowed inside the entertainment center, too many important wires she could chew on or be hurt by... or both. Sometimes she'll pop in there if I'm there to see it just to let me know something isn't right, usually that her food bowl is empty. Rabbits, as a general rule, are not malicious. They do, however, love to get into mischief, and are very curious. Also, if you piss a rabbit off it will seek to get even. They aren't malicious, but they are vengeful. Just keep in mind that they have the mentality of a spoiled 4 year old.
@grayrabbit22118 ай бұрын
You MUST discipline the rabbit, even if it "hurts their feelings." You need to clearly set the boundaries for what is acceptable and what isn't, and the rabbit needs to clearly understand it. If you don't, you'll end up with a rabbit that will act like an entitled millennial and the rabbit will possibly end up hurting itself by doing things it shouldn't. It's NOT "cruel" -- watch how rabbits interact with each other. They WILL 'correct' a fellow bunny who is doing something they shouldn't. My rabbits also have nipped at me over the years for things they didn't like. The reverse is true as well -- a well-behaved bunny can learn bad behaviors from an undisciplined rabbit.

Their place was too clean. 😂 So each bunny rearranged their area with their droppings( their personal aroma) They are very spoiled bunnies. And I love spoiling them too.

does anybody know what is the breed of the rabbit at 3:18?

My bunny acts a little like a dog when it comes to belly rubs and scratching his side just in front of his back legs. He responds to the belly rub by licking my hand and he stretches his leg out every time I scratch that spot.

QUESTION, I just recently got 2 holland lops , not sure if their sexes yet they will be 8 weeks old Monday . Anyway 1 is very friendly with me and the other one acts mad at me, I treat them the same. They free roam my apartment day in day out. I go and give fresh veggies and fruit and Shadow wants nothing to do with any of it, like he/she is mad or something 🤷🏼♀️any pointers?

My bun Sadie does something I haven’t seen in other bunnies. She almost never thumps but she frequently grunts. Sometimes it’s clear the grunt is because she’s annoyed but other times it seems like she just trying to talk. Just have never have seen this behavior before. Sadie’s is a very happy, social, semi free range black otter mini Rex. Thoughts?

The only thing I do that my Maisy hates is picking her up, but it's only when necessary. For example, Maisy was spayed a little over a week ago, and I have to check her belly to make sure it's healing properly. I know I'm doing it for the right reasons, but I still feel like a big meany for it.

Could you please do a bonding video? I’ve been trying to bond my bonded pair with the baby of one of the bonded pair… it keeps going so badly I’m terrified I won’t be quick enough and someone will get hurt

Can you litter train a bunny without them being entered or spaid???
@buchholzgraham70617 ай бұрын
Yes. Usually they will litterbox train themselves. Set up their litterbox, adding a few of their poops or buttons as I call them so they know this is where they are supposed to go. You may also want to put a container of hay next to their litterbox to facilitate them sitting in the box. I use paper litter from the pet store which is very absorbent so their feet don't come in contact with their urine. If they are using a specific spot then put their litterbox there.

Digging boxes!!! I need to know what is safe to dig??
@thebunlife89958 ай бұрын
They can dig in shredded paper or soil. Sand isn’t safe for them to inhale

I let our bunny eat/dig at Amazon boxes. I try to get as much tape off of there as I can and he is supervised. 😊

My vet said u could do both sand and dirt clean not outdoors I spray it damp enough not to make dust and not wet enough to make them dirty make sure they don’t pee in it if so then change it my bunny loves his no issues for 3.5 years
@Rae1111namaste8 ай бұрын
@@RabbitAndTheLabBestFriendsthis may not be the smartest question, but where do you get the sand and dirt? I just don’t want to harm her in anyway. She has had GI stasis and I’m afraid of everything now. That was frightening. Dont want to eat anything she’s not supposed to. Thank you -if you could recommend the kind of dirt or sand you purchase.

I cant let him be on the whole house whole time, but im letting him run on the corridor. He sits in the cage when im eating, im somewhere else (not in house) or when my mom is cooking or cleaning (or something like this). I may buy a leash for him and let him go to plot.

So we work from home, so much of these tips do not apply to us. We are trying to bond our bunnies at the moment, and we have noticed that when the dominant female digs, then it means that she is frustrated and wants her prospective mate's attention. Buns like ours are impossible!!! 🤣🤣🤣❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

What is your opinion on rabbit competitions like bunny hopping? I love your Chanel and would love to know your opinion since I’m not educated in competing with bunny’s.
