The first nba memory i have is glancing at the tv, and seeing Kobe hit a fadeaway where he LITERALLY was just falling down, around the free throw line. My personal favorite game that i got to watch(i became an nba fan at 14, in 2014)is Kobe’s 60 piece farewell. You could tell one thing that never changed with him. Once he’s in the zone, he’s not leaving it💯 RIP 🐐

My love for Kobe didn’t really come from a single game or moment. It was the aura surrounding him that was so intriguing to me. It was almost as if he was seen as basketball royalty. Everybody feared him yet admired and respected him. Nobody could do the things he could because nobody had the work ethic, athletic intelligence, and dedication that he did. Players, coaches, and those around the league for years have told stories of all the unbelievable and absurd things he did and of his unbelievable work ethic. The bean was just different🐍

This is why I think Kobe is the BEST player of all time. He wasn’t quite as naturally gifted as MJ but replicated his game through pure work ethic and mastering the fundamentals like footwork. He thought the game on another level mentally and achieved more than was expected even of his greatness. He’s the best tough shot maker of all time in my opinion.
@joeyjo-joshabadu9636 Жыл бұрын
Kobe's biggest weakness was arguably that he was TOO driven. He shot when he should have passed, he rode his teammates too hard, feuded with Shaq, and spent too many hours in the gym and didn't get enough rest which ultimately led to injury. The thing the people who worship his "Mamba Mentality" don't realize is that the Lakers could have had even more success if Kobe wasn't such a narcissistic asshole.

I thought Jordan wasn't as gifted as people think as well. Compare to Charles or Hakeem from the same class even, Jordan wasn't as "natural". Out of his generation HoF, he was one of the ones who changed his offensive style the most. When he couldn't dunk as much, he shoots. I suspect the thing that Kobe learn the most from Jordan is obsession.

Mann on the topic of ‘blackout workout’, actually getting to that stage of exhaustion is crazy hard. I’ve done that once in my life. Once. It was when I was first getting into ball, i was at this training camp, we practiced for 2 maybe 3 hours, and i was going as hard as i could nearly the whole time. Then we had a full on scrimmage for 30-40. I remember just seeing black spots in my vision, and being utterly exhausted I could barely move. I conked right out the moment my head hit the pillow when I got home lol. I was probably about 12. So I can’t even imaging doing that twice a day, every day.

Kobe was a true renaissance man in the sense that he was a master at everything he did, not just basketball but business, storytelling, coaching, language and more. He was just one of those people who did everything to the best of his ability since birth, and it really showed later in his career. He is the greatest of all time in my eyes, he was more than a basketball player, a true genius and I don’t see MJ or Bron that way.

NoChill Gil was right. Older players worked out way more than modern ones cuz the modern ones are caught up in being famous and twitter. That’s why there’s so many injuries now. The statement “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready” means have your body ready to go at all times. You can’t party then go to a game, basically turning your body on and off rapidly, and not expect injuries.
