When salman khan's tubelight failed at the b.o, salman said people don't like sad movies. Wtf, those explanations and analysis of audience taste don't make any sense. That's how filmmakers in big industries are disconnected from the audience. They know what it takes to connect with the audience, but the reality is something else. Jammy, if you're reading this, let me say it outright. Cinema as we knew, it has undergone a radical transformation. Directors and scriptwriters, the true storytellers are increasingly sidelined, their creative freedom overshadowed by a new breed of decision-makers "BUSINESS SCHOOL GRADUATES". These industry gatekeepers now dissect films through the sterile lens of trends, target demographics, and profitability metrics. It’s all about algorithms, audience analysis, and the relentless chase for box office numbers. And you know what's most HEARTBREAKING? We’re losing the soul of storytelling in the process. And here’s my bold prediction: within the next 5 years, we might see actors licensing their AI-generated faces and voices, effectively turning them into brandable assets rather than artists. What once was a celebration of human creativity could easily devolve into a glorified tech demo, marketed as “cinema.” The future isn’t just knocking, it’s barging in, and it’s hard not to wonder if we’re applauding our own artistic demise.

You have a great point but this transformation happened because cinema for the longest time was sponsored by some families and some investors who made huge losses and minimal profits. That financial model was not feasible. Not to mention , it lead to rampant exploitation, money laundering , harassment. The move to make it more organized and business oriented had a reason behind it. However, unfortunately, Indians as a demographic does not understand the concept of balance , grey shades, middle ground or boundaries and rules , the pendulum swing happened on the other extreme. Now all decisions are clinical cold and business like. So really you have creative chaos or impassionate organization.

I personally think the 1000 cr. mark for any Indian film was such a milestone till 2022 - beautiful stories like Dangal, Baahubali and RRR touching that mark used to tell us how much people loved that movie. Despite not liking KGF Chapter 2, i will still give it because masses resonated with the emotion and somehow liked the storytelling as well, which i despised personally. But extremely mid or routine movies like Pathaan, Jawan and recently Kalki 2898 AD (which on paper was good idea wise, but execution was bad especially in the tone) entering 1000 cr club just makes no sense and pushes the bar too low for even a average quality film to do such huge business. I got so used to it in last one and a half year, that Pushpa 2 earning 1000 cr. in 6 days felt very normal - despite its some of the biggest achievement of a movie financially.

AAMIR KHAN is a different breed man he always and always did something different and challenging not having a fear of what people or his fans think while SRK did these things in the past but now he is stuck same goes for SALMAN This toxic fan culture thing is through the roof for south stars, you know when Vijay announced his retirement people threw slippers tomatoes stone at his car while he was in Jr ntr says he never wants to do a negative role Allu arjun saying commercial masala films is the pinnacle of cinema Mahesh babu saying hindi cant afford me i will not go beyond Telugu because of the love that i get from here The only stars that comes to my mind that dares in the south region is NANI and PRABHAS while i would say it is easy for NANI because he is not as big as the others but for PRABHAS he is the biggest among all the south stars but still dare to do something new, and if you think about it only kalki had gone straight fan service i dont remember it in saaho, radhe shyam, adipurush(altough you should not do fan service of the lead in such film), salaar(it had elevations scenes of deva) and i hope he continues to do that you can love him or hate him for his recent performances but you cant say that he is not trying and isnt the best person among all his peers

But you know jammy the majority of pushpa2 collections are not coming from their home state telugu or kerela where people love allu arjun both mallyalis and telugu people are criticizing the film and the hype is not too much whereas in hindi it is through the roof it shows that hindi audience is far behind movie like pathaan did 1000cr in hindi version alone the same audience who loved dangal, chal de india, are now loving pushpa2 and pathaan the taste is declining it is so real
@Sam-g8p5d16 сағат бұрын
Hello Jammy! Your work is very good as always. Really appreciate your work. Thanks for delivering good content. And the best part of you is that you really reply to your audience as much as you can so that as you put your perspective and see your audience perspectives too. I watched Pushpa 2 it felt really bad that how Sukumar and Allu Arjun ruined movie. You showed Fafa's character as threat to him and Shekhawat was serious that kuch to kam hai scene from part 1 was pure magic. Then in second they wasted as if he really didn't mattered to him because you are making pushpa National level villian then why was the setup in 1st movie itself. Sukumar was going to make series 1st and it feels like series only where pushpa character is like a Vijay Mallya just making money power facing little troubles and overcoming and finally reaching to Japan. Nobody can do anything to him. Like if you see pushpa part 1 1st half family matter then 2nd part police comes then in part 2 1st half it continues the police story then 2nd half police gone family arc completes here. I mean really in 1st scene suddenly you showed suddenly Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani and in interval block he is peeing in the pool in which Shekhawat is. I mean really thats how you ll potray it. Is this the elevation? And people are loving it i didn't get that. Pushpa humiliated this much, undressed Shekhawat in 1st part then he peed and now Shekhawat can't do anything. Sukumar and Allu are very good. Sukumar has given gems like Arya, Rangasthalam. Pushpa 1 was good ok ok. But the portrayal really i mean this is how you ll show to people. As a creators you ll better your creation not you ll cringe it. Really disappointed by them Jammy.

As if Bollywood doesn't have manic fans who tattoo superstars names on their bodies and their rooms are filled with actors pictures. The toxic fanbase as Anmol mentions has been more evident in Bollywood than any other industry. When Jigra failed, these people started to downplay Stree 2, Singham and BB3 in hopes that Jigra's failure could be salvaged. But the audience always knows better than such KZbinrs who are paid PR for a handful of nepo actors.
@user-tc9ko6gi6j12 сағат бұрын
The public is largely to blame. We want thrills and over the top scenes in movies. We buy into the larger-than-life image of the actor and want that image to be married to the character they’re playing on screen. Any time an actor experiments outside of their comfort zone, the movie bombs completely. Movies are less works of art these days and more montages of hype scenes of “the hero”.

The one particular statement that I just remembered from a KZbinr called the *Cosmonaut Variety Hours* when Blade Runner 2049 released is this "People aren't going to watch this movie because it's not your average Hollywood Sequel/Remake, what I meant to say that watch the Jurassic World movies they're just recycling the same ideas of the original, where in *Blade Runner 2049* it expands the world & explore themes much deeper than the original".

Directors losing touch with their films in the latter half of their careers is such a recurring theme. Whether it’s Hitchcock or Ram Gopal Varma, Coppola or Shankar, Ridley Scott or Puri Jagannadh, directors do tend to lose their touch. That whole discussion about Tarantino making only 10 films is getting criticized, but oh god, does it make sense in so many cases. But then we have the likes of Mani Ratnam, Spielberg, and Scorsese, who have evolved beautifully and are still making great cinema-and more importantly, are constantly vocal about new voices. Why this happens with only a few is something I can’t comprehend
@anonymous89114 сағат бұрын
Self consumption is the root cause for the decline. It exhausts brain at certain point and the reason directors like Mani Ratnam stay afloat is bcs they know their limits and they are so aware of it that they become malleable over time and adapt to it instead of going into a limbo of self introspection which definitely is enough to lose path!!
