Nasty old hive there either way. I'm not sorry to e a northerner when I think of maggots in the hive. It's amazing the bees can actually control them when there's that many, it's got to be a load on the colony, using a lot of beepower just to keep the beetles in check. I admire you as your a wonderful mentor. I did an open air bee hive removal. 1st one that I have seen in 6 years. Unfortunately it was Africanized bees. The hive was on a horse boarding facility. It bordered 2 neighborhood and a running trail near a lake. When I saw it on my phone I was super excited, but I had a hunch that they're Africanized. I got to work and yes they were Africanized. Had to come back that night and put the hive down. Can't save Africanized bees that endanger the surroundings. Why save them in the first place? Boost smaller hives and eventually they die off. Alone Africanized bees I don't keep. Anyhow.... 1 day I would love to come do a bee removal with Normal BEES! I don't really even know what that would bee like. Normal bees.... What is that? Bees that are not in Texas I suppose. I only run across a few a year that are respectable hives.
