my biggest issue with daredevils like the one at 18:59 is not the danger they put themselves in but the danger they're potentially putting others in. like sure, he's on a motorbike which is a smaller and lighter vehicle than a car, but if you're going 250mph and hit a car, that car is gonna get fuckin' destroyed man. the motorbike rider is definitely gonna get the worse of it, but that doesn't mean the driver or passengers of the car are getting off scot-free. something to think about.

Fr. My gf owns a bunch of corns and one hognose. Ever since I've been visiting her, I've been learning how stupid and pathetic the little, danger noodles are. They all have one braincell and I love them for it. The corns love to climb but they are very bad at it and keep falling off their perches. The hognose has a "small creature = big angry" complex, puffs up it's cheeks, hisses angrily and bluff strikes to scare away IT'S OWN FOOD. Earning it the nickname "piss baby." Everyday I wonder how snakes managed to survive the dinosaur asteroid and never evolved much. I am also baffled as to how they could possibly survive in the wild.

Props to the moose for being one of the most chill dudes out there. Wild animals are not here for our entertainment, a lot of people need to learn to respect them from a distance (even if it doesn't make for a cool picture or video). I liked the shark one though. A diver having a close encounter with a shark CAN be dangerous, and should always be treated as a hazardous situation, but that dude appeared more curious than aggressive. Could have been investigating what the diver was filming with, although it's also possible that it was trying to figure out what the diver was. I've driven tractors for a job before and another way those pilots messed up is they're not supposed to crop dust when there's someone in the field. That shit is bad to get on you. We had a pilot crop dust in a field that was too close to ours and it was reported as a near miss incident and we were told not to get out of our hagies (the cabins are filtered so they're safe) when it was happening and for a while after. And that wasn't even our field being dusted. The one on the left is dusting obscenely close to people exposed to the air. I'm guessing they were both being idiots, flying too low and too close showing off, and that's why the guy on the tractor was filming. Idk if that particular tractor has an enclosed cabin, but if anyone ever finds themselves in that situation, if there is a closed cabin GET INSIDE IT AND CLOSE THE DOOR. So the one in England where the cyclist and the scooter go barreling into the metal gate, the story there is the road beyond the gate is private and google maps kept directing people down there and the owner of the land decided quite rightfully that he didn't want a load of strangers traversing his land every day, not to mention the countless cyclists that would trespass by going through there, so he quite legally put a metal gate in place to just let people know it wasn't a public path, the people crashing into the gate are regular trespassers on the day the gate was installed
@IcharusLanding2 ай бұрын
So rather than put up any kind of visible signs that it is private property, its better to put up a gate without any kind of marking at all, so that people who likely dont even know that it is indeed private property run into it at full force possibly killing them. I actually have two! near miss-ish stories, one is mine and one is mine as a bystander. The first is mine. I went to college (UK college, so the last years of high school for Americans) in the nearby city, and both it and the college were big (for rural England). I walked like a couple of miles everyday, from the bus station across the city to whichever building I had class in first, and then I'd walk to the next one, etc., then walk home. The campus was big and spread out with actual buildings and businesses and roads in between, although it was mostly a few minutes' walk away - this isn't like a university campus, it's just school buildings spread out through a city basically. Anyway so I was walking by myself listening to music, this was a long time ago (2011? I think? possibly 2012/13?) so I was using an MP3 player. It wasn't loud enough to block out noise, I just had it on as background noise because it was like 5 mins' walk. To get to the main building where most of the subjects were taught, there was a big pedestrian crossing, which crossed three lanes of traffic, one going down and two going up. The amount of time the light stayed green was notoriously short, and you could wait there for multiple rounds of green/red cycles before actually getting across sometimes depending on how many people were in front of you. So I was walking about midday for my first class of the day, going from the bus station, and I'd reached this crossing. It was just green and I saw someone sprint across as I was walking up to it. I waited for a second and then decided to risk it. So I get *almost* the whole way across and the light changes. The car I was walking in front of in the first up lane beeps at me, I walk so I'm in between the two lanes going up, both with cars there. And then they both zoom off. I was trapped basically on the white line between the two cars as they sped off. My heart was racing. The next car let me pass and I crossed the rest of the way. As I was walking past this statue at the front of the college, two girls were sitting on it and one turned to the other and said "OH MY GOD!" and I literally just kept walking, and then I walked up six flights of stairs because I used to be too scared to use the lift, and then I collapsed outside the classroom out of breath and my heart racing and feeling like I should've died. And then I waited for another ten minutes by myself because I was early. My heart still races when I type that out, I legit thought I was going to die. I'm not a reckless person at all, so it's wild that I had an experience like this. The second story actually happened first chronologically, when I was a child. Small town, small roads, but we live next to the main road which is busy. No garage, so we kept the car a street or two away because that was the only place you could park. So we're in the car, I'm in the passenger seat (UK, so driver's side in America), and we're going through one of these small roads to join the main road again and get to the motorway. We're just stopping to join the main road when this teenage boy walks right into the car and the car rolls over his foot as we're slowing down. There was literally a face print of his face right on the window next to my face. He was hopping and clutching his foot, his friend was comforting him and they were shouting. I am a very empathetic person and was very upset and asked my father what happened and if we should make sure he was okay. My father is none of those things and said it was his (the boy's) fault because we were clearly driving there, which is correct, in hindsight he walked into the road without looking even though the car was so close to him, and then my father drove off and on we went to the same city the first story happened in. With the boy's smeared face print on my window, staring at me, and a pit in my stomach. What the boy and his friend did was stupid and hopefully they learnt a lesson to look for cars and not just blindly walk, especially because cars have been known to come speeding out of that section. What my father did is mean and emblematic of the reasons I'm estranged from him as an adult. Enjoy my memoirs! I need to try to remove some of this adrenaline from my body now :-)

Not setting up a trap for cyclists, it's stopping idiots from driving their vehicles down that pathway. Possibly when viewing it from the cyclist POV, the gate is invisible due to something in the distance camouflaging the view

It's exactly this, it was trending on Reddit a few years ago and someone took a picture from the cyclist POV and you couldn't see the gate at ALL until they were almost right on top of it because there was a slope behind it that blended in with the gate.

My motto is it doesn't matter that you're right if you're dead. Even if I have right of way or a green I still look to make sure there's no idiots coming for me, especially as a pedestrian.
