Senior kitties are the absolute best. A few weeks ago, I adopted a 17 year old gal after my 20 year old cat passed away. I know my heart will be broken again sooner, rather than later, but the love she still has to give makes it worth it.

As the owner of a Senior Cat, I appreciate this. My Senior is Julia. I adopted her from the shelter 10 years ago when she was 3 years old. It was instant love. She's blind now, and hard of hearing, but still as sweet and gentle of a soul as she was when she first said hello to me by licking my cheek when I lowered my face down to pet her at the shelter.

A cat date! And a senior cat date at that!! That's one of the coolest and most creative things I've ever seen. I've been living in a country where almost no one wants to adopt a cat unless it's less than a month old, and that makes this video speak to me especially. I wish I could convince people here that adopting a cat of even several months old is worthwhile.

Are you really sure you mean months and not years? Cuz it's highly illegal to take kittens away from their mother below 4 weeks because they still require milk and would need bottle feeding. It's even somewhat illegal to sell them with 6 weeks as they still aren't fully weaned and definitely not yet socialized enough regarding human and cat interactions. Nowadays it's also not advised anymore to give kittens away or adopt out with 8 weeks, although still very commonly done. 10 to 12 weeks are an okay and the later even a good age for kittens to go to their forever home - new research and studies show and agree to this.

Cats have so much love to give. Especially the senior ones. We got a senior cat from our local shelter. They had no clue how old he was. He lived his last 4 1/2 years with us (until he got kidney disease and we had to have him put to sleep). He wanted nothing more than to sit in our laps, all of the time. Good thing I was retired and had lap time to give. I miss him so much!

I have a fifteen year old tortie, which is what she looks like. She has this unique way of speaking. She doesnt meow, she chirps and sings! We put her on flax seed oil a few yrs back after she had what seemed to be a neurological issue. We thought she was done, but the day we were going to take her in to end her suffering she started purring and showing signs of recovery! Cat's have amazing regenerative powers, which I'm sure all cat owners know. She runs around like a kitten. Fetches her ball every night. She has more energy than my 4 yr old! Try a few drops of flaxseed oil in her food. It really helps the body with whatever is needed.

Flaxseed oil is the best! My late cat lived an extra 4 years with kidney failure- I put it down to the flaxseed oil (organic cold pressed from health store) Mr Knightley died at 21 years old!

I don’t have any seniors at the moment, but what caught my attention was that your girl chirps and sings! I have several cats that do that - they sound more like birds than cats!! 😹😹😹 I also have a few that meow or mew, and some of the younger ones just purr - no other noises - but the chirpers outnumber them. I always wondered if they learned bird language from watching out the windows? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

A lot of cats chirp when they're looking out the window at the birds they could hunt. Our tortie used to stalk her toys (catch them, kill them and give them to the people to impress them - and it did!) and she'd chirp with excitement when "hunting" them even. We lost our tortie a few years ago and I miss that little girl so much - it hurts like it just happened (cancer). She was feisty, funny, beautiful and our love. We've got other kitties starting to get up in years so I'll buy some of the flax seed oil to try on them. Thanks for the advice!

My Jake just turned 18 this month and we’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He’s pretty slow and going deaf but he is still a lovey boy. Our other rescue Josie we took in off the streets in 2018 and we found out she was fixed in 2011 and released. She was deemed feral. So she’s at least 11 now and a very sweet girl.

Senior cats are much sweeter in temperament as they age. I've had three seniors now, who lived to 19, 20, and 21, and all three became sweeter and sweeter, the older they got. They need more specialized care than young ones do, but the rewards are great. Take good care of your cat, and you might be lucky enough to see her grow old and darling.

I work from home and one day when I took a break, I saw on the floor were about 10 white flower buds lined up from the kitchen to my office door. What a great love story! My husband passed away nearly 2 years ago after nearly 30 years together. These senior cats have shown me that it's possible to find a companion later in life.
