I just recently picked those Benzak's up and they are most certainly not for rookies to denim. You need to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. The slub is heavy and the color is super dark. Im sure these are going to fade awesome. I also have a pair of lighter weight of Benzak jeans and they are my most comfortable ones. Im sure these 18oz ones are going to wear in wonderfully.

Not a fan of 15+ oz denim either but the exception would be my 21 oz Onis which are among the most comfortable jeans I own. I’m convinced the weave is the key. Loose weave makes heavy more comfortable. Tight weave makes for a challenge (like my 15 oz Rogue Territory); still a great product but not as forgiving as the Oni.

Congrats on your journey to fatherhood! Hardest job you’ll ever love. And the fades hit different with kids 🙂 - Loving my 16oz Sugar Canes. Feel like it’s the perfect in between weight. Not too heavy, not too light. The break in was maybe a week until they were too comfy to rotate my other jeans. Cheers from California!

i have only one pair from BDD B-03 15OZ midnight blue, which is very beautiful dark almost black color. very stiff in day one but comfortable from first wear. after break in they are like second skin. they are tapered and fit amazing with boots like yours. . thanks for great videos.

From the first shot of the pocket - I am amazed by the texture on that pair. The heaviest I've gone is 16 oz. but it has stretch - so it made it much easier to wear from the beginning.

Bought my current pair of Lees as a graduation present to myself. I bought my first pair of Edwins for finishing my second year (last year). I totally get the narrative part, for me as a 22 year old, seeing a change in denim makes me think how much I’m growing as a young adult. Also where do you get your beanies !

Enjoyed this video. I have also worn a new pair of raw jeans on vacations a couple of times over the years. It can be an interesting experience. And often when I see a reference to one of those brands I wore, it triggers my thoughts to that trip. I actually love heavier weight denims. Well, pretty much everything 12oz and over, but most of my collection is over 14oz. I was told (by the wizardof32oz) several years ago to size 20+ oz denims to fit or to be slightly relaxed. Makes a huge difference. I pretty much moved away from sizing my raw jeans tight so they stretch out. I just buy them to fit or just be slightly snug. And wear a belt. Looking forward to seeing these evolve.

Slubby jeans are my favourites and these Benzak ones look very nice. I was going to buy a nice pair of PBJ's and now I don't know whether to take a punt on these. Agghhhh! Anyway, congrats to you and your missus seem in order. Well done sir.

Thanks Jason. Appreciate it mate. Yeah. The Benzak’s have a whole lot going for them. Also in a couple of other fits. benzakdenimdevelopers.com/collections/jeans/products/bdd-006-super-slub-18-oz-rht?ktk=UEdKczZRLWRhYjA1Y2Q1MmE4

Thanks for the video and all your content. Can you do a video on “how” to wear double denim? The thought process behind matching colors/textures/styles? I see me messing that up without some help. Thanks, and congrats on being a dad! It’s a tough job.

I'm a newbie but not interested in jeans that fade quickly (or slowly) or want to roll up the cuffs on the bottom. Also, I would like something comfortable without a long break in period or any stretch jeans. Big guy wanting a relaxed straight fit. Like TCB but wish there was a back pocket pattern. Don't wear suspenders. What's my 1st selvedge jean I should buy? Thanks for any time saving denim calculus!

Will sanfordized loose weave jeans like your 18 oz. Benzaks tend to shrink more than tight weave jeans?

Alden Indys are not considered work boots (in this century at least). Other than that it was a great video. Nice job, looking into moving onto some japaneese denim after my current cone mils denim fades a bit and I need a new dark pair.

I genuinely use denim for its intended purpose, work wear. Simply for your reference, a brand new pair of Levi’s will last eight-twelve weeks before the knees completely gape open. Overstitching thin spots elsewhere thanks to singer and the appropriate reinforcing backing quickly becomes a consistent weekly upkeep . Any affordable recommendations for someone that requires less mixed fabric in landfill?

Tough and great value, I'd go Bravestar personally. Got some heavier weight jeans in at the moment. Maybe don't go for 22oz. Don't go above 16 but that should be tough enough.

Two things I learned wearing raws around my baby: you'll be washing them way more often than you'd like (enjoy the Vintage fades), and baby spit-up stains like a bastard, so get a good spot-stain remover before you wash your stuff. Good luck!

You had me at "We had the biggest dump in years." Eat more fiber. I am so excited for you and your journey with your kid. From my experience kids have no reverence for raw denim. I would always find unknown stains on my pants. Bodily fluids are more a part of my life than I want them to be. Good Luck! Also congratulations on the Waffles.

Can you please explain to me why people are still buying jeans tight to stretch them out eventually I think that needs to stop being pushed in the denim community. Your wasting a lot of peoples time and money doing that.

I wonder how common this is: I have bought now 3 pairs of Samurai XX510 19oz in trying to get sizing right. Two of the pairs (31W) have been fairly regular denim with some minor slub lines here and there and other little lovely oddities. However the 3rd pair I received (same model, same "Lot" number just diff waist size) were super super slubby. The texture is vastly different than the other pairs, so thick and porous. 𝒲𝒶𝒷𝒾 𝒮𝒶𝒷𝒾: I know I know but just not what I wanted especially as the 19oz is already a thicker fabric than I'm used to. I'm sure some slub-head would love this pair more than I could tbh. Anyhow, is this level or variation between same model (and production lot) of denim common?

Are they the Newer "2" or II model without the Levi's tab & stitching? Although I guess if there the same "lot" they shouldn't be....? but Samurai and alot of other Japanese brands had to drop the stitching from rear pockets because of Levi's lawsuit
