I have new Michelin AS 4s on my LR model 3, and it definitely hurt the efficiency when I first got them. It’s gotten slightly better as I’ve put miles on them

Permanent solution to prevent the appearance of colors on your car seats from transfer from clothes... save money and get black seats. I have installed the cheaper Sentury (properly weight rated) tires for my 2018 Model 3 RWD LR. I have noticed a very small 1% loss of range and have not noticed any increased noise on the freeway. $492 installed for 4 new tires at Discount Tire. 40,000 mile warranty so they will be prorated for my next set (I get about 30k miles per tire set whether they are expensive or cheap tires). I have made up for the 1% loss of range by lowering a freeway speed from 74 mph to 73 mph.

if you watch tyre reviews they stated that the ps4s is about 9.0kg/t rolling resistance and psas4 is about 9.1kg/t rolling resistance. somehow more wear resistant tires have higher rolling resistance on avg

I have a long range MY with 19" wheels and a roof rack. I live in the high country of Colorado. Just getting to my house is a 1,000' climb from the main road. Lots of cold temperatures. Lots of driving with limited regen braking. I haven't done a comparison of different tires or temperature, but 14,000 miles of driving in these conditions, split about evenly between the stock tires in the summer and heavy studded snow tires in the winter, my aggregate power consumption is 272 Wh/mile. The 278 Wh/mile for your friends car running 19" all seasons in a warm climate on (what looks like) flat roads seems high to me. I'm going to have to zero-out my trip counter and see what I get for pure winter conditions with the studded snow.

Lowering a car also reduces drag. I lowered my Model 3 Performance once 1.5 inch. The efficiency gain was great. Unfortunately I live in a neighborhood with a lot of speed bumps, so it had to be raised a bit again.

EV specific/tuned tires make a big difference with efficiency. Tesla certainly understands this when having manufacturers make the tires specifically for them. For example, go look at the differences between the Primacy and the Tesla specific Primacy. When Tire Rack tested the stock MYLR tires versus Cross Climates they lost around 10% of the range. Tires matter and matter way more than people think

I have a model 3 with white interior. When purchased new, I treated the seats twice with Meguair's Professional Leather Cleaner and Conditioner (Meguiar’s Professional Leather Cleaner & Conditioner D18001 - sold on Amazon). Over the last two years, the seats look new and any dye or dirt stains wipe away with the use of the same product. It also keeps the material from developing any creases. Highly recommend.

I have a Tesla 3 in Toronto, got it in October 2018, long range, single motor, 18” wheels, current odometer 130,000 km. I used the tires that came with the car for spring, summer and fall driving, and got winter tires for mid November to late March. Every time I changed tires I changed the trip odometer so I could see how I did in the particular season. So I am 6 winters and 5 summers into the experiment. In the winter I averaged 175 watts per kilometer at the low end, 190 watts per kilometer at the high end. Summer I could get into the 130’s but I’ll say on average I achieved 140 watts per kilometer. My summer tires finally needed a change, I put Pilot 4s on. I was a bit stunned at the change. It’s rare for me on any trip to achieve lower than 150-155 watts per km! Many trips are higher. Too early to give an average but could be heading for an average 160 watts per km. This is disappointing. Now I understand the Pilot’s are all weather, and I believe the tires that came with the car were summer tires. It’s the relative change that’s important so I’m not converting to miles. The car is supposed to achieve 499 km on a full charge of the 74 KW/hr battery, and my summer / winter average till I changed the summer tires 6 weeks ago was 150 watts per kilometer (perfect is 74,000/499). Any suggestions for a good summer tire for a Tesla 3 or Y?

One of the safest moves a Tesla driver can make is to scoot quickly when changing lanes on the freeway. The Acceleration Boost improves the “scoot.”

Upgrading to 20s and purchasing Acceleration Boost for $2k each? If performance is the priority over efficiency and comfort, then I think the MYP is a much better value and offers much more capability.

Standard vs Sport Mode.. might require a low level reboot (driver) maybe thats why its hard to switch between the two mode dynamically on memory (just my guess from a software engineer)

If you like to be a speed demon then it's worth it but I personally don't think it's worth it. The Model Y LR is pretty fast. Since here in the US we don't have an autobahn it's not worth being pulled over and getting a fat ticket or arrested for reckless driving. But you should go for it if you want this feature...it's certain your choice.

Replaced our Tesla MY 19" Hankook EV tyres with some 20" aftermarket alloys. Did not see the value in paying $450-550 AUD for EV tyres so bought some inexpensive Delmax Ultima Sport 105W tyres for $150 AUD each. Range has dropped about 5 - 7% but have saved between $1200- $1600 AUD on the set of 4. I figure it will cost me about $150 extra in energy over the 30,000km life of the tyre. You guys in the US have a few more choices for EV tyres. I would have tried the new Sailun EV tyres but they are not yet available in Australia.

I swapped the original Hankook summer tires for (none-Tesla-endorsed) Goodyear Vector 4 SUV 19 inch all season on my 2023 MY LR. First thing I noticed was a LOT less noise (-3dB) and a MUCH better ride! It is a lot smoother because those high-frequency, short shocks are better absorbed by the Goodyears. It is like driving a totally different car. Now for the downside: Consumption went WAY up. Too early to say by how much but it is significant and 20% at minimum. The colder weather seems to not have that big of an influence since the car tells me that battery conditioning and climate control add very little to overall consumption and that excessive acceleration causes higher consumption. I have certainly not changed my driving style. So, in conclusion I reckon that part of Tesla‘s great range performance stems from efficient but very uncomfortable tires.
