I think I’m going to join the Tonex world here pretty soon. I’m 61 years old and my first digital amp was the flagship line 6 AM. Later I got a Vetta amp. Reading through the manual about digital modeling and some of the amps that were modeled for Vetta gave me the hopes and dreams of preserving all the classic old amps of our past. I would never buy the Tonex as a standalone modeler. But I have a full-blown helix and I can really see the fitting in as a great addition to the models of line 6. And opening up to a whole world of old vintage amps that people have modeled. Watching you play such pristine sounds on this video has encouraged me to possibly take the Tonex plunge here very soon. Thank you.

I just jumped in a couple weeks ago and it's amazing. Really great upgrade for the Helix and HX Stomp for me, and I still think those sound great but it's just something else. And it takes pedal really well!! I'm so impressed with it.

Gorgeous tones and gorgeous playing , John! I was convinced when TONEX first came out, and then I was convinced again, when I started recording with it. it’s simply the best at taking a “snapshot” of an amp. It doesn’t replace amps or anything else. It does a job, and it does it well.
@Willjrockstar5 ай бұрын
it completely replaces an amp. Thats exactly what modeling is. Now it doesnt do everything an amp does but an amp wont do everything it will do either.

Just got mine yesterday and immediately added it to the Stomp's FX Loop and it fit like a glove into my rig (a vintage chameleon glove). Love everything about it (besides maybe the software, but it didn't take too long to find my way around it).

I just picked one up, after struggling with Tone X one and setting the input/outputs I got some really beautiful sounds. Excited for the new update. My one complaint would be how not user friendly the software is, but hopefully they fix that in the update. Thanks for all the great videos John!

I was wondering when brown face amps would get some love. My ‘63 brown face deluxe is a mean little thing and not what people think of when you think “fender”. It’s more aggressive than a 5E3 and much more controlled

Would love to see a video from you using this combination. Beautiful intro. I’ll be looking for the backing track on your Patreon page if you’re putting it up. Really like those brown face sounds. Look forward to hearing more. Cheers.

I already own a Helix, but am ready to buy a Tonex of some sort (just because) to have as a backup or for variety. It's as much about the bundled native software as the hardware as I mostly play in my studio plugged straight into my audio interface and running Helix Native or Overloud TH-U. The ONE is cool but I really like having access to the extra memory (3 models per bank) in the Pedal so that I can easily switch between clean/crunch/drive in one bank and switch to a different bank easily with a different amp setup of clean/crunch/drive. But the small form factor of the ONE is enticing.

@davezoradi5 ай бұрын
The DI captures are without a doubt the best if you have good cab IRs. I got the “everything pack” from Tone Junkies and there’s plenty of their 26 amps and 30+ captures per amp that have DI only. Then with about 60+ cab IRs included there are some insanely good Tones to be found.

There's some funky low gain sounds like this on Richard Thompson's solo guitar soundtrack for Werner Herzog's great Grizzly Man documentary. Seems like he does have a Fender Deluxe from 1956. This Fender 62 Deluxe has tons of character, I'm surprised how good and funky it sounds, it sounds like you can almost smell it cookin' in the room. These are the kinds of amps I think modelling is really cool for. Amps, I'm basically not too likely to ever own. Because I'll keep the workhorse Marshall JTM/Plexi, Vox AC15/30. Fender Princeton/Deluxe Reverb around because those 3 amp styles cover 80% of what I need. But then for the rest, apart from unobtanium amps like Dumbles , I'd quite like more models of lots of smaller, funkier, more lo-fi character amps. Even things like Vox AC4s, '57 Tweed Champs, Vibro-Champs etc...
