Magical. The English countryside and historic buildings hold such charm and you frame them in the most beautiful and liesurely way.

Those lovely flowers just starting to bloom under the apple trees are camassia. They are native to my part of the world, British Columbia (and the Pacific Northwest in general) in Canada. One of your videos, in early March, was the last one I watched with my dear husband. He was in hospital and we watched your post and one other on his cell phone. It was the first time, since he was admitted, that he forgot he was in a hospital bed having trouble swallowing and walking and talking, and instead he watched the screen and said "how lovely!", "I'd love to go there". He died later that evening, and I am FOREVER grateful for that little piece of time where he was taken out of himself, happily watching with me, as we used to do at home. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart! I am now watching your videos on my own, but this memory gives me some comfort and I can imagine he's with me.

Thank you for letting me know about the camassia, I’ve learnt something new 🙏 I’m so so very sorry for your loss, that is heartbreaking that you have lost your husband. I’m sure you are feeling the loss immensely, and yet you are taking the time to leave such a beautiful comment. That warms my heart to know that your husband had a bit of escapism, however briefly. I’m just sat here with my Mum and I read your comment out to her and she’s in tears. Thank you for sharing ❤️ Sending you a big big hug and lots of love. I hope you have a circle of loved ones around you during this time.

@@theslowtravelsfamily Thank you for this sweet reply. I do have family and friends who have been so kind and generous with their time and care of me. In fact my cousin is flying out from Sussex on what would have been my husband's 68th Birthday to spend time with me here on Vancouver Island. My husband was a very special, very dear person. I miss him more than I can say, and the kind thoughts of so many people mean a great deal.

So very beautiful and relaxing, peaceful and full of charm! All of the apple trees in bloom and the blue bels and so much mmore wer beautiful. Will miss seeing the little Angel Cottage. So quaint and perfect. Thank you for leaving the notes below and places we can check out more. Can see you and yoru daughter seemed to be left handed and they say peole left handed are people who can master crafts. Your daughtre learning some of the needle works is relaxing and wish so many would take tim to allow their young peole to learn things like this. They say ther is "No place like home" but am sure leaving her has to be very hard! But maybe you will return again and if we are lucky you would not mind including us as well?! I love old homes and museams etc and to think that this home was in same family so long, is amazing! This truly tells you how marvelous their memories must have been ,and passing the home down, was meant as such a jesture of love!

Such a lovely, relaxing meander around some very special places. English gardens are an inspiration. Bluebell woodlands are sublime! My cat stopped a moment to be sure there were no actual birds inside the house, lol. That dining room will look so much better with the original open beam ceiling. Always happy to see careful restoration true to the period; original plans, blueprints, old drawings, letters, receipts, etc., are often preserved when the same family has been in the home for centuries and can inform this type of work. Thank you for pointing out special aspects of these amazing structures. :)

Camassia’s are also known as Asphodels. There’s a white form as well as a blue one. The newer hybrid camassias are true white, but the original white camassia was a ghostly grey colour which in Greek mythology carpeted the underworld floor of Hades.
