Update: I spoke to the Camao driver via IG. The driver apologized profusely. He had received some extremely bad news that morning and wasn't in the right headspace to be driving. He's also learned some bad VERY habits from other people that drive the canyons at night (I.E. crossing yellow touge style). I was empathetic (to the news he'd received) but told him to stop driving dangerously, do some track or Auto-X days, and learn responsible canyon driving so that he can enjoy this hobby for decades to come. - Zack

The 4pot just didn’t feel special to me. (All said, I have. 997.2 c2s in the garage, so the thrill meter gets exercised.) I remember test driving a Macan S in the first year of production and was greatly disappointed in its handling capability after reading all of the amazing reviews.....little did i know you needed all the right suspension options tacked on($$$) to get to what the reviews were all about. This Macan T is pretty much what I'd get as a daily driver. If you don't have those options there is nothing special about the Macan IMO.

Typical of Porsche to make buyers pay extra for the fun experience. 🙄

I don’t get why people tend to refer to the Macan as a soccer mom’s SUV. I think it’s a great compromise if you can’t have a Cayman or Boxster.
@camryt2 жыл бұрын
For that kind of money, it could at least have the same power output as the Golf R or S3.
@senorfreeze46622 жыл бұрын
Kinda with you on that. Still not sure why the T doesn’t have the full 315hp from the EA888 in the Golf R. Maybe parts availability? If this had that Golf R performance numbers I’d be much more tempted.
@ANDRE_6752 жыл бұрын
@@senorfreeze4662 It doesn’t have the full power because then it would be much closer to the S, also it’s cheaper for Porsche to keep the same engine from the Macan without touching it. And I can bet you that if you put this thing on a dyno it has atleast 20hp more than advertised, just like most Porsche’s.

A lot of that money is R&D. You can't get a better crossover in that price range.

If you left your lane, you didn’t win. It’s like track limits, you’re DQ’d if you cross the line. Btw that cross-canyon shot was pretty sweet

Only question that matters in my book... would either of you two spend 60k on a 4 cylinder suv? Good or not.

Might as well get x3 m40i. Much better engine and sounds awesome and more tech. Handling is good too.

That's a terrible question because they have no need for it. They would never be in a position to need this. There are millions of people who want an SUV crossover who give very little shits about engines.
@cadriver25702 жыл бұрын
I bought an S model and I've got buyer's remorse. Without raging acceleration on par with the the M40i a crossover like this is pretty boring, even with good handling. The car isn't really whisper quiet at speed, but you still can't hear the engine note in sport mode like in the BMWs. At low speed it's all turbo whistle/hiss, which again BMW controls a lot better so you can hear that glorious inline 6. Not to mention the brake squeal.

Macan Turbo and S models are nice lil suv....until it's time to replace the belt, that price will be a huge sock to most, and make sure you do your PDK clutch fluid flush every 4 yrs or 40K (which ever comes first).

63k and you don't even get the EA888 from the S3/Golf R? At that price I would be looking at the BMW X3 M40i or Audi SQ5 and add the available handling options on either one.

question is, do you go with the latest macan t, or get a certified pre-owned older Macan GTS

Buyer beware: the previous gen V6 Macan engine is unreliable, leaks oil, suffers from turbo lag, and is generally mehh. The current gen V6 GTS cars are selling at $90k used. I just bought a 2018 Sport Edition, essentially a Macan T from 2018. For doing SUV stuff and canyon driving it has plenty of power and responsiveness. If you want/need more power and torque, tunes will elevate the performance nearly to the Macan S level. Upgrade the turbo and you can match the GTS and Turbo and with less weight. However, I don’t think that much power is necessary. Macan is great because of the PDK, excellent ride quality, while being fun to drive and quick through corners. All of those things don’t require more HP.
