@longhairedanon8 жыл бұрын
Take it from a AP1 owner, skyhigh revs+ no tq make it a fun car and totally "racy" feeling, but totally civic-esc like in day to day driving scenarios. Thankfully nothing a simple downshift or two can't fix. My turbo'd friends (talking small ones that hit under 3k) have much more fun throughout their rpm range. I'll say it, boost is the ticket over small displacement, low cy count, NA builds for most situations.
@longhairedanon5 жыл бұрын
@Commentor1 I considered it. I could have bought a c5 for under 10k with under 70k miles. However these are the reasons I didn't: Appreciation: Every car I have owned as a DD has gone up in price so much that I have always made a few grand (or more) when it came time to sell. I initially wanted an NSX but when I got the money together suddenly all It was only enough for an s2000. I got my AP1 from its second owner, with 35k miles, a few mods, and full service history for 14k. Now it sits at 70k miles and I could easily get 18k+ for it. Such wouldn't have been the case with a c5. Reasons being: Too many were made, demand is too low, and it's too connotated with being a boomer-mobile and/or a mid life crisis with four wheels. Connotation: As stated above the c5/c6 is waaaaay too connotated with being the car of a mid life crisis and/or being the most boomer sports car ever. This may not be the case in much of America, but it certainly is in my area. Handling: Even when the vette has it's leaf springs taken out and replaced with coils it still feels like a dog in corners. In order to get it setup for the twisties you have to install coilovers, replace the burgerland driver's seat, and reinforce the chassis with a multi point roll cage. Handling means a lot more to me than straight line speed as I have canyons and twisty roads all around my house and enjoy spirited driving through them. Plus I like going to an autocross every now and then. I still love the price/performance ratio a c5 offers, and often recommend them to people who ask me about affordable sports cars. Plus I'd like to have one in my group so I can have a go in it occasionally. However, every time I recommend one the person ends up going for a tuner instead. Usually a S2000 or Z3.

I bought mine with 33k miles four years ago for $18,500.00. I wanted a 2003 with 9000 rpm motor. (Suzuka blue and not with a premium like this.) It was 10/10 in all areas. Legit showroom. Love it. I just drove it today after working from home the last week and a half and was amazed at how amazing it is 😂 (even though I've owned it for four years.) I looked back at it as I locked the door bc it's nice and noticed I left the interior light on. Perks.

22.5 for a 24k mile AP2 in this condition is a good price for any color, at least in the northeast where I am. 4:15 RIP bug. I've had my daily AP1 since November, it's the best value for an exciting, light RWD car in stock form IMO. I get 32 highway, 23 city/spirited in mine during the summer. I got pulled over once on a backroad at 5:30am, although the cop didn't clock me. It's definitely "hard" to go slow on the backroads, the car just has so much to give. You can do 50-60 on a twisty 35mph road without even blinking. Weak points for me are the seats (the leather gets slick and the bolsters collapse), brakes could use a bit more bite as Matt said, and could use a bit of downforce (addressed in the CR).

Tyler Hoeve Basically the AP1 (99-03) had the F20C engine that redlined at 9,000. The AP2 (04-09) had the F22C1 engine that had more torque but a lower redline, also different wheels and front/rear bumpers, minor interior updates. The common consensus is AP1 makes a better track day car, AP2 is a better day to day car.

I don't know why people are allergic to modified used cars, if I found a clean example with simple bolt ons like an intake and a cat back exhaust it wouldn't stop me from buying it. Especially if the stock parts are included, or ppl could put it back to stock before selling it and sell their parts separately.
@Gandalf_The_Jacked8 жыл бұрын
I think its also the fear (regardless of the truth) that people who modify their cars probably drove it much harder than someone who kept it stock, leading to more wear and tear on the car.

That color is phenomenal - love it! It seems like the awesome blue colors are always the rare ones, though, such a shame.

This guy gelled really well. It definitely makes the videos better. It seems a little awkward when you get a rider that doesnt say much or only responds with the generic yeah or uh huh.

Matt, you're so right about this car not liking to drive slow. When I'm in the car with my friends I drive below chill and it's horrible. When I drive it normal, my friends scream for me to slow down "I got kids" and girls thinking I'm driving fast because an s2000 is louder than a F355 at wide open throttle.

$100 Ha, you obviously don't live in California. Effing pigs robbing people blind.
@Big.W.8 жыл бұрын
Jeff K i didn't mean literally $100, I meant any lil fines to help keep the government from going bankrupt. I live in the good ole Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The home of the $30 fail to use blinker fine.

Stas 369 in eastern MA yes. Here in western MA (Springfield) you gotta do really extralegal speeds in front of an officer to be pulled over lol

Price?
@Nizacx8 жыл бұрын
because they cost a fuck ton more. but they are much better.
@theeeMitchi8 жыл бұрын
While I understand that people say it's basically a better Miata, I think the Miata still has it's place - because in a Miata, you can just cruise around, whereas I feel the more agressive S2000 wants to be treated like a racecar, flat out all the time. But maybe that's just me. Oh and of course - price.
@boomtastic18 жыл бұрын
While I am not a big miata guy, I see what you mean. The s2k always wants to rev high

An ap1 or the better ap2 will blow your socks off compared to your corolla
@CataGryph8 жыл бұрын
A camry is a better comparison. The tC ain't that fast, but it is faster than a corolla at least.

trade your tc for anything tbh
@chinchy1118 жыл бұрын
at least Tc's are pretty light. they even made a pretty rare lightweight one that didnt have AC and some other stuff. weighed like 2,700 lbs
