I remember that show, I was at a friend of a friend's place and I remember for some reason the signal wasn't working or his dad had forgot to order the show, I forget which but we finally got it and I didn't know it at the time, I thought Orton and Kane were the first match but obviously later we found out that Bryan and Sheamus were on first and we missed the whole thing.

They did something similar with the Royal Rumble winner the year prior. Alberto Del Rio wins it...first match at WM, which he lost. Really devalued the Rumble in 2011 and 2012. Call me old fashioned but sometimes you’ve got to love the simplicity of one World Title which the Rumble winner challenges for. There’s your WM main event.

I remember watching that goin "WTF?!?"... then getting pissed off watching the women's tag match that night (Kelly Kelly/Maria Menunos vs Beth Phoenix/Eve), had more time than the World Title match. I get that yes, its your "celebrity" match at Mania. But still, the fact that Maria Menunos got to spend more time in that ring that Daniel Bryan, YOUR WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, that night still leaves a bad taste in my mouth

If I was bumped from the main card to the pre-show the previous year and then lose in a World Title Match in 18 seconds to open the show, I would be confused but irate. For me as a fan, when I first saw it I laughing my ass off despite the shock (and confusion) of what just occurred. Those fans at WM28 were loving Daneil Bryan's 'YES' chant and I even enjoyed his character after his first world title run. To see it end like that was unfortunate but little that anyone else knew that was just the beginning...

@jclandry69335 жыл бұрын
Right!?! Those were my predictions and honestly would have made the Punk/Jericho program a lot more interesting.
@tredagoat144 жыл бұрын
I personally think we still could've gotten the yes movement without Sheamus winning the 2012 Rumble. I don't care if it was "too obvious" that Jericho should have won. They previewed he's return for weeks leading up to January like he was gonna win the Rumble that year, but Jericho winning the Rumble and challenging Punk it would've made their story going into Mania better.

This is what actually got me watching WWE again after several years. I saw the outrage all over the internet and I wanted to know why everyone was so upset. I hated seeing someone so talented get treated like he was Barry Horowitz on an episode of WWF Superstars. Bryan's popularity alone should have been reason enough to NOT job him out like that. Compare Sheamus and Bryan in 2019. I can't help but to think about all the fans WWE chased away and the money they lost.

I mean seriously getting taken off the card of wrestlemania but fucking snooki gets to wrestle! they wouldn't even fly him to shows. 18 damn second match. they feed him to roman reigns. and they kept him out of the ring till he threatened to go somewhere else.
