This week on Loft Vibes we're taking on what might be the smallest room makeover in our space: the entryway! We really needed an area that functioned better for the Canadian winters when coming or going from the office, so we set out to make a cool entryway feature that included some storage, a coat rack, and a place for our shoes. We came up with three designs but ultimately decided on one that features a DIY wood slatted tambour accent wall that we're so excited about. We also ikea hacked a PAX wardrobe system to work with our DIY benches and closet rail, installed some bike hooks for our team, and added in a simple curved wooden edge shelf complete with a beautiful globe sconce and our Google Nest Mini. We love how this entryway room makeover turned out, it definitely was more challenging than we thought but this functional makeover is so easy to adapt to your own space at home! Big thanks to Skillshare for sponsoring this episode. Let us know in the comments below which office makeover we should take on next!

When the space is finally done I would love to see the landlords reaction to the makeover! (If possible I know it’s hard to have people find the time and also want to be on camera). He seemed so excited from earlier in the series to see what you guys would do to the space! and I think it would just be so interesting to see someone who hasn’t been a part of the process be so surprised to see the wonderful changes you’ve made!! Love you guys 💕 thank you so much for all the great content! You inspire me to be creative (and more fashionable 😂) with each video!

🎨 RE Painting Trim 🖌 🖤Love the Scandi light wood & white wall/cabinet combo. My preference would be to clear coat to protect. Although Scandi design also favors ⚫black & white⚪. All the wood stained ebony to match the black bench & black pot for the entry area plant could be very interesting. However, that would've been more easily done before it was attached to any surface (& simply touched up later). 🚲 Bike wheels against any interior wall is kinda gross. Plenty of chances to mark wall while simply lifting it up to it's respective perch too. Know they are bit heavy & awkward to lift in that manner. A plexi-panel will preserve wall, while be very easy to clean.🤗

I actually really like it in the light colour, but because they stand off the wall a bit, it's really easy to see where the mounting board is. It might look better if they slid more thin white panels in behind the wood, on top of the existing ones.

😉LOL! ⚱My parents were always fashion forward in terms of architecture & decor. Living in a highly stylised environment was very important to them. They weren't afraid to take design risks. They bought a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home with vaulted beam ceilings and these massive picture windows that suit the rustic canyon views. It came with significant accents of natural maple, cedar & oak inside. They balanced this stylish woodsy mcm vibe with mod black lacquered wood tables & cabinetry, sparkling jewel-toned upholstery, and touches of brass as well as Chinoiserie🏮. At the time, everyone else was putting more generic standard American fare in their homes where a Lazy Boy recliner would have pride of place. Think their preference for high drama pushed my bro significantly toward a more subdued decor direction when he became an adult. He still focuses on comfort & utilitarian over design. 🖤 Love a more relaxed vibe, but as the Sorry Girls show us, that doesn't mean you have to stint on style.

I have never seen that kind of wall covering and I love how it looks! What bothered me a bit was that horizontal dark shadow line behind it where you put up that board to nail them on. Maybe through the camera it looks more pronounced? Also a tip, you should cover that wall part where the bike tires hit the wall and put sth on the floor underneath. Wet and dirt will otherwise make you clean a lot. Love you!

😊Agree. That Tambour treatment is new to me too, but it really glams up that space in a mod, yet warm way. (It makes a departure from a more cottage like traditional bead-board panel.) Seems easy to replicate using their method. The other online versions I researched did have less of a gap between the petite "planks." Personally, I don't mind the shadow (or white painted block wall peeking through). 👏👏👏

@@janice694 I must have missed where they said they were going for a Scandinavian look, so I started to watch it over again. The ”tamber” wall could use a little mini shelf ledge to cap it off (like the one by the door just continue it). Just enough for phone or keys or something. Right now it is giving me bamboo on a rental balcony vibes 😬 needs a clean carpentry finish to it 🌈👍🏼✨

The place is looking amazing! Acrylic screen on the bike wall will be easier to clean dirt off of. Definitely stain the wood walnut to keep that consistency going throughout and finish off with trip at top and bottom. Green bench needs a little side table and possibly a nice tall plant nearby too. Can’t wait to see the bathroom makeover!

Omgosh you gyals are so damn talented! I wish i had your creative view. I like mine but I love yours. I think you should either paint the wood a nice warm color or stain it in a nice warm golden hue. Unless you're going for the scandi vibe? Thank you guys for this bcus I was just having a melt down trying to put a coat rack up that didn't want to stay on the wall. I got so many gems 💎 from this video. Thx. Oh I'd love to show you guys what I did, where do I send my pics?

Listen, I love the makeovers so freaking much, but I think I love these videos even more because everyone (especially Kelsey) is verbally expressing their feelings towards masking up and being cautious and that is *SO* important right now! High key respect for including these thoughts into all of the videos since March.

I love how this turned out. I definitely think a side table and/or plant next to the ottoman would help it look less like you accidentally left an ottoman in the middle of the room, and help tie it all together.
@Ellie_amanda
@Ellie_amanda 3 жыл бұрын
i think if you want to ground the ottoman more, it kinda could need something next to it so it looks more intentional. Like a basket filled with wool-/fuzzy socks for everyone to wear, or a potplant or behind it a devider screen (maybe from the same wood panel you did on the walls) or something else:) but it might not need one. i really didn't get to see the space from the other angle so it's hard to tell:) But i Really like the space!😍 that wrap arpund paneling was a good choise! great work!

I wish they would rename the series “garage vibes.” First, because the space is kind of a garage rather than a loft. Second, because I enjoy the Canadian pronunciation of “garage.” However, I understand it’s a continuity thing with the past series. Seriously, though, awesome work as always!
@alli457

@theophrastuscarnegie6242
@theophrastuscarnegie6242 3 жыл бұрын
Alli Penge Ha, that’s a good point! I think the midwestern American pronunciation is more similar to the Canadian one. The general American pronunciation is more often like “garoge,” in contrast to the more Canadian “geridge.” Another word where the Midwest and Canada have more in common concerning the pronunciation is “bag.”
