I owned an M1R for about 15 years or so. It was central in everything we did. It's editing and programming capabilities are underrated due to the degree of difficulty accessing settings. This looks like it may be somewhat less difficult. The sound is eerily spot on. Thanks for the demo.

$30 for the synth and all expansion cards is a tremendous deal. I have a ton of iPad synths, but the value hear is insane. The sounds are far more practical than most synths offered. Hell yeah!

Yeah, seems like the Korg iM1 has an endless array of patches (I suppose the hardware keyboard was pretty vast, too). And yes, I agree, just as good if not better than any other synth out there! Maybe even better than the Yamaha DX7??

+Francesco Bologna the soundcanvas is just for GS/GM sounds tho, you arent going to get roland synth sounds out of that like the junos, + jupiters + jx3ps - for those u want to look at the boutique series, which basically they probably could have made them into vsts but they chose to make small compact hardware instead

Right an old video but couldn't think of another place to ask you- why do you think Korg has so well embraced the iPad wave whilst Roland has done basically naff all in areas of emulation (not only on the iPad). Is Korg making money at the iPad bit I wonder. Emulation is obviously the singularity towards which the mainstream market has been going, and even the iPad could emulate the D-50, from a technical perspective. Korg used to follow Roland and now that's them leading. Anyways Roland's absence is interesting to me and I would like to know your thoughts. if there's a better place I could've reached you so let me know cheers.

The App Store says a gigantic library encompassing 3,300 sounds well that’s incorrect and it’s way off could be a typo. I added up all the preset sounds of all the cards except for the Library cards and the user cards and I came up with 1,569 different presets. And I bought the two in app purchase cards.

My old band just got back together after a 14 year gap. If you had told me back in the day that we could have an M1 for about £20 I'd have bitten your hand off. But then I am a cannibal. But these days I'm like "how much"? As a collection of nostalgic sounds from another age it's a bargain, but aren't there better iOS synths these days?
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur9 жыл бұрын
periurban No. And i've did my homework. This, sampletank and Akai impc take the cake. These apps are all audiobus 2 ready. And they have been long in the making for a reason.
@periurban9 жыл бұрын
Frans van den Berge What about Animoog, Arturia iSEM, iMini, iProphet, Magellan, Nave, Sunrizer, Thumbjam, Thor, Mitosynth, Tera Synth, Laplace, ZedSynth, Arctic Keys and loads of others I don't have installed right now? iM1 has a lot of nice sounds, but so do many other synths. What I'm hearing is a lot of legacy presets.
@Erispedia9 жыл бұрын
periurban No, you shouldn't compare iM1 to any of those pure synths. iM1 is more likely in the same category as Sampletank. It's a workstation, not strictly a synth. That legacy presets is the one thing that's rare on iOS. Too many synths alternative for iOS but lacks of workstation/arranger stuffs. So, KORG did well in filling the gap with this iM1.
@periurban9 жыл бұрын
eRisforus Yeah, I think that's probably fair enough, and in all seriousness the cost is about right. It really is amazing times we live in when we have a whole recording studio in a device we can carry in one hand.
@FransvandenBergeMuziekschuur9 жыл бұрын
You are probably in a cover band. My remark was towards having a keyboard/ipad combi wich is useful without too many different synths. So no menu clicking between apps. And with audiobus 2 everything works together. Korg & Akai have been longtime members of the midi association. So their apps have been certified to work with a select remote controllers. The apps you mention will not nessesarily work with usb equipped synths. And with my Synthstation 49 I allways try to remote controll with buttons. Not all apps are yet able.

What sounds did you use for plaser organ on your korg m1 app ?
@karlweaver54039 жыл бұрын
Hi all On the basis of this demo I brought the App. Wished I hadn't It's all very well getting carried away by the " thousands of sounds " but most are just variations on the same themes or programs. As for " editing " an absolute nightmare on the iPad and what is not mentioned is the no Midi Mapping function or even capability it's Non Existent ! Yes lots of screens to " fiddle with knobs " but there are not many sounds on this App to provide the wow factor that's for sure and that includes those on the expansion cards, pretty mundane stuff tbh. I imagine if you have a Korg Keyboard of some description Midi Mapping might be possible but it's actual real functionality with a Midi Controller Keyboard is pretty useless that's for sure. Of course if you don't yet own any VST's it may well impress, as for me money wasted. Cheers.

@deauvillevrienden9 жыл бұрын
KeyboardKrazy49 You need the iPad, the CCK (Camera Connection Kit) and a midi device as iRig 2 (from IK Multimedia). So you will have a normal midi In and OUT and you can connect to whatever keys, such as the midi OUT of your Tyros. You could assign the voice3 of the Tyros to use only the midi out connected to the iPad. Of course you will lose the voice 3 in the Tyros itself.

How do I create soundslists? Can anyone explain how I copy sounds to my own "sounds-lists"? I play on a iRig keys and have the m1 korg-app on my Ipad. I play in a band and when I play LIVE I want to change my sounds easily and fast. I don´t want to do own sounds (I want the sounds which is on the app) and just do my own sounds-lists. And when I play LIVE, I hopefully avoid to search sounds. I just push my soundlist and play. I don´t want to search and search and search. If I could name for example my soundlist as the name of the song (for example "New York" (Frank Sinatra), then I avoid to search on the whole app?! Could anyone help me?

@malatia75758 жыл бұрын
Not sayin its a bad product, you can do lots of stuff with it, especially assigning a midi ch to each of the 8 parts,, multitimbral, thts a plus. But for some apparent reasons I am not attracted to samples. I am embassed when using sample based product, I prefer real synthesizer apps where you create your own stuff. But I am skeptics with the synthesizer apps too, I am sure the oscillators are in fact just a sample provider providing e.g a saw. Of course they are supported with all kinds of bogus sound synthesis literrature to fool you and make you purchase. Some hardware are bogus too, they are fake synths based on samples only, disguised as oscillators, wavetables and cyclic waves etc.
