And that made me happy because many opticians use it as a chance to show off, and I find it all very uncomfortable. Yes, those are brand new! Surprisingly wearable as well... I didn't think I'd like them until I put them on. They are embossed cow leather to resemble crocodile

I'm in my flannel pjs, cappuccino in hand, nestled under my white down comforter watching the best 10 minutes and 51 seconds on KZbin. Wow! Robert! You hit this one out of the ballpark. Luxury comes in many forms. As an eyewear expert, you see all forms luxury and you bring us the best-of-the-best. Often, luxury means bling... gold and diamonds and all that sort of thing. There's another kind of luxury too, "Quiet Luxury." It's my favorite kind. Quiet luxury doesn't shout. Thanks David. Did you new glasses arrive yet? I Can't wait for you to have them now they are ready. I totally agree with you on 'quiet luxury'. To me, it's the only kind of luxury which resonates. The Gast rimless I'm wearing, and the Ahlem pair I got recently, are nice, but not 100% 'me'. And that's fine - we all have different sides that we can explore every so often... The white gold Reykjavik frames feel to me like the 'ultimate' glasses because they are so pure in both function and form. The colour is not silver or gold - it has warmth without being gaudy. I feel it suits me probably more than any glasses I've ever worn, and I think I'll be wearing these 3 pairs almost exclusively once I have them. They feel completely harmonious with me when I wear them - almost like they vibrate on the same frequency. I'm aware that sounds pretentious, but it's true. I can't wait for my clients to be wearing them - there'll only be 50 pairs of each model...

@@foretell6819 Yes, I've been enamored with Maison Bonnet for 20 years. Robert was in Paris and I wonder if he secretly made a visit and is hiding his experience for a series of future videos. We will all be shocked and awed. I'm waiting with bated breath. As far as my Masunaga's, I am fortunate to live in NYC and I went to various stores to find the frames which most optimally fit my narrow but rather long face. I prefer eyewear that's discreet and, as I've said above, exudes quiet luxury. For my face, I chose the Masunaga Chord D in titanium. On their own, I preferred other shapes from the Chord line more but none looked as effortless and proportional on my face. To match the utter simplicity of the Chord D frames, I paired them with real glass lenses, with anti-reflective coatings on both sides to be as invisible as possible. Funnily enough, after Robert and I nailed down the details and I placed my order, I watched the movie, Godzilla Minus One. It was crazy to see simple metal Japanese frames so similar to Masunaga's. Japan perfected metal eyewear and the old world craftsmanship and precision on Masuanga's titanium frames has no equal. How do you improve a spoon?

Anything that is affordable? I'm disappointed by the previously-bought cheap Oakley and Carrera frames. Haven't tested my eyes or purchased a new spec since the last four year, and this time I want something in titanium, but they're hard to find in India. Other cardinal sin: he is biased toward thin, metal frames. It is, among other things, opinable they are the most comfortable type: I have had some on for minutes, and they are too lightweight, it annoys me, it makes them unstable-ish. People who prefer very thin very light frames are people who'd rather not wear any eyeglasses if they could; I believe if you don't share that feeling, you easily prefer characterful, "thick", acetate frames.

Masunaga... MOC new designs seem derivative. Dita and JMM have done it before. Quality is of course great and self evident in both packaging and frame quality. My own personal fit issue with Masunaga is that their previous designs are for smaller to medium sizes faces while I'm large head wide-faced. Not a good fit for me.

This channel is an extremely interesting phenomenon. The glasses presented on it (like in this episode) are usually exceptionally ugly, boring or showy models and yet you can't deny their craftsmanship. In the case of goodyear welted shoes, the craftsmanship goes hand in hand with the good design and here we have a list of ugly frames and the repeated humiliation of Tom Ford, who introduced glasses to fashion. Very interesting.
