I will say that singing isn't a competition. Let's say for a very brief second it was. So who would judge? Would only one genre be the litmus test? Opera let's say, what octave? Maybe all of them? The point, other than the one on top of my head. Point is that it doesn't matter who I think is the best because as long as I am able to listen to the music and be taken from my everyday life and am able to feel joy sadness angered or even be moved to tears to me that's the point of music it's not to listen to music and make it like the rest of my life and judge it by whatever rules or standards whoever decides to judge it on. Instead of bickering on a subject that can't ever be measured or quantified you could of listened to another song or three, could of called a loved one just to tell them you love them. Call an old friend and squash a beef even if you feel your old friend was wrong. Go to a children's hospital and then tell me it matters on the internet who the GOAT singer is. That's the problem. People are focused on trivial things Instead of real things like love and helping people even if it's yourself. Cheers everyone. Whoever is your Favorite singer listen and feel whatever it is you feel. Just relax and let the music take you away.

It's different when Chris does it, particularly the screams that are sung in key etc, because this isn't Jazz or Opera or Pop music. It's gritty, raw Rock and Blues, and it's right on the edge. So no matter how precise the singing or musicianship is, it will always have a rough kind of vibe about it. It's real and unpretentious and that's what people are connecting with.

People talk about Kurt being this important figure in music but he was Chris Cornells finger nail. Take a look people, this guy was the lightning rod of the Seattle sound
@bluepvp9004 жыл бұрын
Who talks about Kurt Cobain in that way? I can only come up with one, that’s Post Malone and he was only saying he was important to him personally. Cobain was pretty cool in the way he brought great obscure contemporary groups to the forefront (Meat Puppets and Vaseline’s) if for nothing else.
@sephiroth666zack4 жыл бұрын
man, in my opinion Kurt had a unique style of put his suffering on lyrics, not to just make people sad, many artists do that, but he could make people relate, he could make people feel his pain and feel that they aren't alone in their suffering, at least this was my experience with Nirvana, somehow Nirvana became bigger than was suppose to be, he wasn't doing catchy songs, he hated smells like teen spirit bcuz became a catchy song, people don't quite get Nirvana and Kurt.
@zeroelliott3 жыл бұрын
I don't think one needs to compare...different artists,just like in any other creative sphere....
@zachwalraven3 жыл бұрын
Just in terms of raw talent there's no comparison. Chris was a giant. Arguably the best rock singer of all time, and that's not the only thing he did well. Show me once Nirvana ever did something that was muti-meter. Soundgarden did that stuff on almost everything. Plus they were a great stoner rock band on the first 3 albums. Kurt Cobain was a sloppy guitar player, if you want something that is like Nirvana, but better (since Kurt said he stole everything from them anyway), listen to Mudhoney. Plus they are nice guys.
@zeroelliott3 жыл бұрын
@@zachwalraven I don't believe in comparing different forms of expression-it is a fools effort....these are two different artists,if they were painters you wouldn't be so brutal-also,Chris had 25 more years to mature as an artist than Kurt...and there's the fact CC was born with a 4-octave range,and a completely different upbringing-in fact,the only thing linking them was Washington State and their proximity...so-do you see what I'm getting at,here?

I have been benge watching every video I can find of Chris Cornell, he must have been going insane, out of his mind with all those songs and lyrics running through his head. He was too busy his last few years with insane schedules touring like crazy. He tried so hard to keep certain songs alive from his friends who died and other singers and musicians he admired so much. Every song, every lyric tells a story, if you really listen, his death is no surprise in the end. Rest now brother, we heard you, and we love you, we will never forget you.

Now 25/30 years later I I stumbled upon him again when looking for "nothing compares" song. I knew he progressed with being a writer and performer but I am in a shock how he found his abilities to make me say.... WOW I feel like I missed out on a lover when I had another love. The crowd and the individuals look like they shared the trance that he dared go share. Like a poet who knows how to tell the story already written, like a translating spokesman, like an artist who knows how to paint what needs to be seen, not a singer or guitarist but a beautiful man who just liked to share. Who knows the best concert I can watch?

He had a love for song and how it can heal if you understand the song meaning. He was amazing because he had a want to be loud when life is loudly bad. He would sing for himself and taught himself the power of music being played for an experience of connection in the moment. Yeah my husband was diagnosed with severe depression and he shot himself in 2006 June 20th to be exact! Let's see his kids and a lot of us devastated.😢

What took Chris Cornell away from us was the same thing that brought him to us... His depth of understanding of the Human Condition and his incredible capacity for empathy made him an amazing talent whose vocal delivery could illicit an emotional response like no other cutting straight through to the soul... "Every little word that's from your lips makes a little cut where blood pours out... And every drop of blood is like a kiss that I won't miss... Not f or anything" is the most accurate description ever written. He had a God given ability to make the ugly truth a thing of beauty and his misery translated the same way. I've asked myself many times "why is the sound of this man's misery so pleasing to my ears?" It was his amazing ability to turn fear into love, the unthinkable into beauty. And when you keep that in mind.. about the way his beautiful mind worked and listen to his understanding of death in his masterpiece "Scar on the Sky" it shines an entirely new light on his departure and gives the listener the same depth of understanding he possessed. This man was beyond "genius". There is no word for what he was and remains to be through the legacy he left for us. And @Elaine Rakoczy you should definitely continue to take in Chris Cornell's transformative output as I am certain there is something going on here that science doesn't quite understand yet. But taking in the sounds of this beautiful anomaly could have the same effect on a cellular level transforming your confused cells back to an even greater beauty than before they took their wrong turn. The power of the subconscious mind was Chris Cornell's forte. His music is a treasure trove of riches that we don't quite understand yet. So much so that there truly are no words to describe it's qualities in entirety.

Very well put. Chris dialed up a certain frequency that I’ve never experienced in my 66 years. And I have listened to music since a toddler. He came to me in a dream 2 years ago but I didn’t know who he was. 3 months ago I was researching trafficked children and his picture with an article popped up. In a flash our energies recognized each other and I knew he was the beautiful soul in my dream. Everyday I do extensive research on him. I don’t want to listen to any other musician. This is a supernatural phenomenon in the Super Unknown. Chris’ energy is welcome here anytime. He pulled me through a crisis when I thought I was going to die a few months back. Saying he was my hero doesn’t begin to cover it. I am eternally grateful to the Creator for Chris. And to Chris for following his North Star. Chris is a multi dimensional being. Even his band mates said he was transcendental in interviews I’ve watched. True story. ☮️❤️

Awesome compilation. This tour coming through Jacksonville had a number of amazing versions - the Nothing Compares to You and Blow Up the Outside World from that show were incredible. As good as it sounds on this video it is incomparable to how strong his voice was live. It filled the Florida Theatre...gone too soon

He brought peace to the world. I brought nothing but pain, from Detroit! His point value for existence is far greater than mine. Point value and alternative assessment entrance exam.

Thank you for this amazing video. This version of Sweet Sunshower, with Bryan Gibson's cello, is as beautiful as the others. It is such an inspiring song, and whenever darkness sets in, it brings healing. Chris Cornell, your voice, words, and music will never be forgotten. 🙏

One of the greatest ever. I love the part around 1:01:52 , when he starts plying a song, and someone in the audience figures out what it is. “Moonchild!” That moment when you are at a show and realize they are unexpectedly playing an obscure but great song. It must have been so amazing to be in that crowd.

some people have a true gift with their voice to touch so many souls, and make it a better place . God gave Chris such a gift. Hauntingly beautiful.

How do u know God gave him he gift? Maybe he sings as a protest. He was an atheist..... He did not like preachers. He would reply that the same argument can be used that Lucifer gave him his voice!
@krisknowles57102 жыл бұрын
@@jamescurry9317 Because God is the creation of all things. He created Lucifer. Whether you believe in Him or not, doesn't change. It is still a gift, no matter how he chose to use his voice, or what he did or did not believe in.
