Should also bring a folding chair and, if you have the room, a canopy for much-needed shade if not available at the track. Also, if car numbers are needed, some painter's tape, which can also be used to cover and protect your headlights. If you're a sweater, a balaclava is a good idea to protect your helmet liner.

Recommend changing because if fluid is over 1 yr old it has absorbed water and brakes will fade as water changes to vapor as it heats. Cool down to let brakes cool and not warp rotors. Do not set parking brake.

You forgot.. Checking brake system, suspensions systems( swaybars, stabilizers, struts), warm up laps for tires/fluid (don't bring seasonal tires, bring in slick/sport tires for track). Too many times people bring their stupid cars thinking they can just fly around corners on public days and end up being a moving hazard. Other than that REALLY great info.

looking forward to my track day at Mid-Ohio, but as an engineer, did not like the torque wrench portion early in video. As a manufacturing engineer, we find "1-one" clickers often result in over-torque of the fastener. Best practice is to back fastener off, then torque....I have no problem with "double click" if wrench does not move in rotation angle. P-Chi

He should've mentioned too that if you're struggling and the guy behind you is faster, let him by and follow his line. Of course, don't over drive the car's limits if the other car is a much more capable car.
@wallstreetoneil5 жыл бұрын
Never follow a faster driver's line at their speed because it is a really good way to put your car into a wall. It's a far better idea to get a ride with that driver, or better yet a much better driver / pro, to be in the car as they operate it, to feel the forces, and to have a headset on and ask questions about technique / throttle / brakes / etc that enable them to do what they are doing. Make every attempt possible if improving your technique is a goal, to search out and get drives with pros - absolutely nothing will help you improve your technique faster; but remember, if they are in a fast car and a Pro such as Mark, the speed that they carry and the Gforces will at first blow your mind - you will need time to absorb what they have done - and do not think for minute that when you then go out you will be able to do it. That is why continuing to search out rides as you develop is critical because you can only absorb so much. I got a ride with Mark driving my GT3 about 10 years ago at Mosport when he was setting up and teaching a fellow friend who own a cupcar. I was stuck at comfortably doing 1:35s on the big track. After 3 laps with Mark, the first two being incomprehensible to my brain at his speed over #4 and his line and speed into and around #8, I went out and took 3 seconds off my previous best - but I had already done 20+ trackdays at Mosport alone.
