One of my favorite parts of Christine and Mary's videos are when they give each other permission to declutter stuff they had bought for each other! I feel like a lot of people hold on to things just because someone special gave it to them. Hearing them give each other permission to toss it makes me happy! Let the guilt go and make space for the important things! 💖 💖 Please continue with everything you're doing and not let other comments bring you down! We love you, your family, and every person you have worked with! 💖

THIS! Yes, it is great when families give permission to get rid of things. My mom was a true hoarder. So my sister and I had so much to deal with when she passed. I'd never want my sister to keep something just because I gave it to her. If it is not useful or wanted, then let it go.
@rosecat563810 сағат бұрын
I know Mary said it’s been a transition to get used to where the dishes are but it’s actually really good for you brain to change things around every once in awhile. Rearranging things like drawers, cabinets, moving furniture or even art on the walls can help to keep your brain from becoming stagnant and it accustoms you to change. Change is inevitable in life and it’s important to keep your brain in shape for it so it’s not as hard to handle when it happens.

these people are so genuine and grateful. what a big change for the better. with love from Ecuador where we dont do very much food storage because of spoilage and so we buy fresh every day, which means the food must be eaten right away because we also do not have preservatives in them. our fruits and veg rot and our meat goes bad quickly. it is a different way to live and we have tiny grocery stores on every corner.

They are doing so good! I'm happily waiting for the next episode 😊 Yesterday I had a mini-declutter with my sister. Her kids have a corner in the living room with games and we went through all of that corner and (with the help of her 6 year old) we tossed some things, made sure the card games were complete and made a pile for donations for the kindergarden because of games which her kids had outgrown. It was highly satisfying. Unfortunately we did not had time for more and it always is a 3 to 4 hour drive for me to help her. But progress is progress!

it is so nice to see the men in both families being so involved. i do not live in the us and we do not have pantries so just a general observation: i think a decently deep cupboard with drawers would be more functional than a small and/or weirdly shaped pantry, as they seem to take away more space than they offer actual storage. i have a suggestion for the spices: why not keep them in one of the drawers next to the stove? so they can be grabbed whenever they are needed without walking half a mile.

I'll have to do a second sweep in the new year because I already know I kept things that I'll never use. These guys are doing an amazing job letting go. I thought it was cute how they kept looking at the pantry and some of their comments.😊

Wow!! Looks amazing. I do agree with Jack that the expiration dates on spices are more of a guide than a rule though!! If it smells good and havent clumped together, its fine. The only thing is that they might lose their taste/smell, but 9 out of 10 times it is fine to use past the date🙏🏻
@marinard629310 сағат бұрын
On the other hand, if you haven't been able to use it up since 2018, do you really need it? I have around 20 spices that I use regularly.

This is not meant as a criticism, just curiosity…can you not recycle the glass in USA?
@armoody058 сағат бұрын
@@becca377most of the time they come in plastic containers here not glass (some people transfer them to glass containers) and supposedly the noted expiration dates take also into account the plastics particles breaking down into spices/products (tho not everyone realizes/knows that or cares-- also why once people decide to toss them they usually just toss them container and all)... personally in my house if we empty a spice, we recycle containers but then again if I find ones way past expiration, we just toss it.
@cyndij83126 сағат бұрын
@@becca377 I actually reuse any glass jars for spices that come in plastic. But yes, generally you can recycle both glass and plastic. However, it depends on where you live and if you recycling company handles those.

It looks great! And, they work so well together. I only have two things to critique. The sound is so low, unless you're near the camera, and then my eardrums practically bleed, because it's so loud. And, all the dust that got stirred up, from not dampening the cloth. It was contained on the shelves, and now it all over the place.

There should be an online therapy group for all those of us who had to throw away our treasured ancient spices. The Old Spice Group?
@lauramitchell672511 сағат бұрын
Hello group: My name is Laura and I’m an old spice horder. However,I must share one experience in my defense. I’m 66 years old and my mom had the glass McCormick jars with the green lids. One was full of the actual nutmeg nuts. When I grate one on a rasp,the smell is as potent as it was 55 years ago,with the bonus of bringing back a flood of memories of standing on a chair and making French toast with my mom!🙌🏻 So yeah,you’ll have to pry that jar from my cold dead fingers!

I used to hoard a lot of stuff I never used and that I got second hand. I donated it back to the second hand store. what I would ask myself was: how often do I use it? what does it cost to purchase again? 99% of the time the thing could go away, it was something ubiquitous I could just rebuy it for 50 cents if I really had a need for it.
