I just read all the comments: If we downvote the dumbest comments enough, will they fall off the page? Jaysus. So judgmental. 1. When you are helping somebody declutter and organize, it only makes sense to vacuum and wipe things down before you put items back into the space; its not "menial" labor that is inappropriate for the job. Plus I think people don't understand that the real career is the content that goes into the video; if someone is helping a couple declutter and is filming it, literally everything they do with the camera on is valuable to their aim. 2. What in the world with the woman criticizing your outfit?? I would think that was a bot, but she has her own channel with a video up where she is wearing ::gasp:: spaghetti straps! For the entire world to see! What a hussy with her bare shoulders and all. And finally the person who is suggesting fewer and more eco friendly cleaning sprays but kicks off her comment by accusing the couple of having a shopping addiction and stating they will never purchase or pay off a home of their own? Pretty sure that there is their home, that they own, otherwise why would they be there for years while the place undergoes renovations? And even if it is not, they are no more cluttered and have no more intense shopping addictions than anybody else. I would love to walk into any critical person's home and see how their house is looking. People turn a blind eye to the stuff in their own house that they "need" or that they bought when there was a sale (there is never not a sale) at whatever silly store they like to browse in, but somebody else buys lots of dress shoes during a mind-bending unprecedented historical event (pandemic) and they have a sHoPpInG aDdIcTiOn. Usually I don't comment on comments, but Jesus Christ people, where is everyone's empathy? You don't convince people to try more eco friendly solutions by being a butt. Did that person come out of the womb using vinegar and baking soda? Smdh

@TheCaitling brava! Well said. And to elaborate on the issue of buying a home - that is a real pet peeve of mine. I can't stand it when people say this. It is usually coming from an elitist and judgmental place from someone who doesn't actually do the budgeting for their family. And there are so many reasons why a person would not want to buy a home - people please stop saying this! Location, accessibility, job changes, a better school district with no homes for sale, and yes - finances. Owning a home is so much more costly than some people think, there are constant expenses. I have owned 2 homes including where I live now and honestly - I hate having to pay a lawn service (I'm disabled and can't do it), snow removal, constant maintenance and repairs. I miss picking up the phone at my beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment and having maintenance come up and fix it. It is a lot to cope with, and as I age, it is a lot of work to own a home. But we are doing it for our family - older as well as younger members, so we are staying for now. Can't everyone just stop immediately judging? Seriously. That is all. 🙂

April is too nice to respond to these freaks and their uncharitable comments. I did not notice her outfit till I saw the very interesting back, and I thought of the heat inside that confined little space, and thought it must be comfortable this way or else she would be in her old tees. About the house buying : the trend has changed, no one buys houses any more, they only rent. Once things are laid out maybe this couple will not buy so many things in multiples, maybe they will, their life, their choice, what gives us the right to comment? If you are so judgemental go to some other channel where a bossy lady orders you around to throw everything away or display things prettily in baskets without bothering what you’ll do with the mountains of things she left behind for you to dispose of. April has carried things out of the house to dispose them in relevant places. In Korea, in Texas and wherever she goes. Or at least respectfully stored them found a place for them to rest till they got carried away.

So many thoughts about this. I am a little further along in my declutter/downsize journey, so I can see things here I encountered and had to deal with myself along the way. The back stock and multiples of everything is something I also had to navigate. I often shop online, so I would order 3 instead of 1 so I would qualify for free shipping and telling myself, "I'll use it eventually." That resulted in clutter and I had to let that notion go. I now shop more often (grocery curbside pickup once a week) and more locally. Mail order is convenient, but also a clutter facilitor. I don't really DO back stock. I don't need 5 cans of hairspray or 5 deodorants. It's not necessary. The fear of running out is a real thing. But I live 3 minutes from ALDI and 5 minutes from Walmart so how in the world would running out ever be an emergency for me? I had to learn that lesson.
@berniea.32552 жыл бұрын
COVID did that to a lot of people! Backstocking because of fear of empty shelves or even going out! Amazon made tons of money during those two years.
@jenniferwright83552 жыл бұрын
And it doesn't help when a store makes it "logical" to go home with 10 items instead of 5. (Looking at you Bath & Body Works.) I had to ban myself from shopping there anymore, it makes me frustrated to pay more for less, just so I don't overfill my bathroom cabinets.
@TheMeganExperience2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of products that are frequently out of stock when I'm shopping (ex: my store had been out of a paper product I use for 4 months and just now finally had them this weekend) and I've been having awful luck with shipping (I prime a lot of my household products but then had my monthly prime box get lost in the mail) so, for me, having a solid backstock of household & personal care items really works for me. I have a couple of shelves dedicated to it in my linen closet and I know exactly how much I have of everything.
@Diniecita2 жыл бұрын
@@TheMeganExperience I do this too but I am learning how much I can handle and how long it takes me to use each thing. Its helpful not not have too much. I Went through my bathroom and I have a basket full of shampoo and conditioner. I wont need to buy any for years.

Full of admiration for the couple who openly share their decluttering knowing fully well that they have things in multiples and may be judged for that. Full of admiration for April who is so patient and respectful of them. I doubt whether I would be so patient with myself and definitely not with my family members if they had so many collectibles, mementoes, clothes and shoes. But this is real life, we ARE like that. See my sarees, for examples, and the unmatched, too tight and old blouses I hoard. And the books, files, stationery and copies of official letters and whatever nonsense I haven’t yet thrown out. And I know I’m going to buy big IKEA boxes to store them all .. so there you go. Very few of us like to remember that we ARE like this, behind our little comment boxes. Love you April, for making life more meaningful for so many of us. For making us less judgemental and look inwards to think of our own hidden ways of holding on to memories. Some of us don’t keep or hoard objects, but maybe we never let go of hate, of bad memories, of deep seated discriminatory prejudices. Yeah, lot to think. And I have already watched again… and now once more.. the last bits.

This looks amazing! I have been in the same position where I have too much backstock for various reasons and it feels so good when you're down to just one or two of the item. Also wonderful to be moving out all the storage solutions that wound up just cluttering things up. The shoes look awesome and now that he can see all of them, he might wind up deciding he doesn't like some or doesn't wear them and declutter a few. I definitely bought some stuff during the pandemic that I later on decided to donate or sell. I also find that once you've decluttered the entire house, you start getting nagging feelings about items you kept that you know you don't really want, and those things get culled fast, since now you can see and access them. Great job! Can't wait for the next video.

I actually turned the shelving so that the " slot " part was on the front, ( I'm weird like that, lol! ) because I discovered- quite by accident ,- by turning it that way every single hanger fits in a separate slot and your clothes will not ever get wrinkled .. I used to iron a lot and from that point on that's the way I had them put up, lol. yep. I'm a weirdo. Lol ! Looking really good in the closet , I do hope people understand that when you are Organizing , sometimes it takes several times to get things where they need to be and where they make the most sense for the function. ... it does often take moving things around several times... very seldom have I found that it works from the very first time. I agree, it's often difficult for people to " not be overwhelmed " with the process, and not allow it to have them feeling angst over things. ....as you stated, it takes time, when the Dynamics of Real Life - and how one lives in thier Environment- comes into play. 🙂 I always look forward to seeing whatever y'all are doing ! Keep the Faith, keep focused on the good ! Have a Blessed week. 🙏🏻😊☕️👏🏻

I love transparent containers. I use the fresh fruit containers for craft items. I've been using the cheap plastic shoeboxes for years. Tina, Al's wife

I should mention habitat for humanity in many cities and some countries have stores called reuse stores. You can bring extra building material there. Eg: old doors, door knobs, tiles. Flooring even if it’s only a couple tiles, they take it. They even take furniture sinks, cabinets pretty much anything you pull out of homes from renovations or extra materials. It’s like a thrift store for homeware. They may have a list on their website on what they take. I got a vintage light fixture from there for 50 cents.

Oh that's a great resource! I will need to add that to my ongoing list for the TSD website. Thank yoU!

The closet is epic. Personally I wouldn’t put back stock in downstairs storage. If I need soap from all the way down there and I know I’m going to grocery store I’ll just buy new. Lazy I know. Tools would go downstairs closet. I don’t use them often but when I do I want to be able to use my favorite whatever that it is and that makes it worth retrieving and putting away that favorite. Also because of needing all those hurricane supplies I’m thinking this is a couple that could justify a small storage spot. Especially if they want to accumulate items for a future house.

Thanks Marty! Ya, KZbin is so strange sometimes. I don't quite understand why they do that later. I think if the notification bell and "all" is on it shouldn't do that.... I tihnk.

Great job! I don't buy multiples anymore; they take up too much space. I only buy when stuff runs out. Just think of their area if they didn't have doubles and triples.

I want to know the story on the shoes. I think I saw duplicates. Not bad just an observation. he must really love shoes. So cool to see so many different kinds. My hubby doesn’t care for shoes so it’s cool to see a man who has a joy in shoes. I wonder which ones are his favourite and why.

So much better, calmer. I'm sure the organization has made an impact on the homeowners moods. Not judging...I think the rule of getting rid of something before allowing something new to enter the closet should be implemented. i.e. shoes 😃😄

@olivemaycards2 жыл бұрын
In retail it’s referring to the stock (inventory) you keep in the back to replenish when the stock on the sales floor runs out. Or at least that’s where I think I learned the term. In your house it’s the spare bottle of detergent you keep so you don’t have to run to the store when it runs out.
@melindalee86592 жыл бұрын
Your calm and respectful approach to decluttering has helped me use that same tone with myself. Slow and steady wins when working through messes, and your videos show how well it works. Really enjoy your videos and I’m so happy for these homeowners.

Great job on his closet. I disagree though on the backstock, I'd leave like items together no matter how many. Then they don't have to go to another room to find out that yes, they have plenty of that. And if you have to put tools that are rarely used in the linen closet, put them on the floor so you can have a nice soft eye level area of a few shelves of organized soft goods. Looks like he could have opened up all that new underwear and gotten rid of the old. ✨😊✨
@Jen39x2 жыл бұрын
I think back stock is a very personal choice. I don’t want with but don’t want it far away either
