Nashville only represents itself & close proximity neighborhoods. The majority of Tennessee is great; especially in comparison w/other states. I saw a comment that said Nashville was rude. That's because in the city, there are very few Tennesseans. Most are transplants, from places where rudeness is common.

Similar to what's happening here in Texas with Austin being flooded with transplants. Austin has become the red-headed step-child of Texas because it doesn't even feel like Texas anymore and it's filled with asshole Californians and Midwesterners now. A lot of us locals have been pushed out of the city due to the skyrocketing cost of living and the overall influx of shitty people. I miss the old Austin big time.

Don't move to Nashville if you think you're going to increase your salary - wages DO NOT match the cost of living. Nashville is VERY expensive. I would suggest before moving to Nashville and you want to purchase your "to impress" home - think about who is going to be able to buy it in 5 years (or less) when you want to go back to your previous state of residence. We are suffering from the Big Fish - Little Pond syndrome and until people are forced to move back for work its going to be unkind to local Tennesseans.

I live waaaaaay outside of Nashville. There are "newcomers" here now. Many don't stay. Out here in the rural areas we don't have trash removal, no de-icer on the roads in the winter, heck some of our roads are chirt! They wash out a bit after storms. Also cell phone signals a spotty. People learn that they need wired internet.....again. The moisture, you can add annual pressure washing to the home maintenance schedule. The mold even grows in the window crevices of your car😂. Even if you wash it weekly! This lady is correct, everyone of us is allergic to mold. You need climate control on all storage areas. That was the first lesson I learned moving to Tennessee! ❤ it's high humidity all year round. To me cities are cities.

I was born in Tennessee and am disillusioned by most places I've lived since. I'd like to return to the state but fear Nashville sadly will feature too much of the influx problems we are all aware of. Would you say Knoxville is a quality, quieter alternative for someone just seeking to rent in peace?
@LivingInNashvilleTennessee1
@LivingInNashvilleTennessee1 4 ай бұрын
I understand your concerns. It is hard to return to a place after years; those changes can be jolting. I don’t know what you enjoy doing , your work , etc. but what about Crossville or Cookeville? Close to Nashville to get to when you want to do so. Knoxville also could be a great choice - still a large college town, but has grown as well. Go Vols!

@LivingInNashvilleTennessee1 Thank you so much for your insight. I work in accounting/business so can usually find suitable work in most environments. Cost of living is an issue everywhere currently, so my aim is to suffer in a less dense area. Finding that balance of peace and safety AND infrastructure of a developed area is so difficult these days, especially with all the nonsense in the world. Simply put - I'd like a moderate to conservative area that isn't at risk of being overrun by awful ideology.

Knoxville downtown is pretty quiet except for the area around the University of Tn. The greater Knoxville/Knox county can be a very beautiful quiet place to live with the convenience of city living down the road. I sadly do not live there any longer due to my spouses job. The best move that you can make is anywhere but Nashville, TN. Take the example #10 STAY WHERE YOU ARE!!! 1. It's not worth it. 2. The scheduled property tax increase is comming soon and will price you out of your finances. 3. The infrastructure of roads is horrible. 4. Crime has increased by 98.6473%. 5. This was made in 2021 and it 2024 and the Nashville/Davidson County will be increasing the utilities Water,Sewage,Rainwater drainage have reported that increases will take affect in June of 2025 at 78.2648% 6. The city council has approved a property tax increase of $45.78 per $1000.00 property assess value. 7. An entertainment, lodging tax increase has been approved to pay for a indoor football stadium. 8. Ungaraged vehicles will be vandalized. 9. Tennessee Department of Transportation TDOT and Nashvliie Department of Transportation NDOT will not pay for your damaged vehicles if damaged on Nashville streets without evidence and they can dictate (pencil whip) how minimal or severe the roads are. 10. The liberals will indoctrinate your children in the Transgender Sex and Critical Race Theories in the Nashville Metropolitan Public Schools.

Do yourself a favor and don't move to Nashville. Crime stats compared to the reality due to soft on crime liberal govt aren't the same. Nowhere is safe here, high end robberies from foreign gangs just like other major cities to common robberies, carjackings, hit and runs, I'd advise look at a local news several weeks. Wkrn. In 5 years my household has had a car stole while at work, a motorcycle stole while we slept, and a car hit and run but we saw it was a friend of our neighbors and they refused to give up a name. It isn't the friendly town it once was, north and west coast and foreigners have drastically changed it. There are graffiti areas with ms13, doughnuts in the middle of major intersections, and a shortage of around 150 officers. There is one animal shelter in a city now over 2 million and homeless of all nationalities even in the well off areas, Hillsboro Green Hills areas. 130+ languages in the school system so if you have children, the classes may be oversized or slowed for others. My tiny experience living here 30+ years, I could share more.

Best people to live around. If you don't like to be waved at going down the road, a finger or two off the steering wheel, not for you. Won't find a better bunch of people than in Tennessee. If you like real food and also crave intellectual stimulation, don’t move to Nashville. Even with expecting to drive, the infrastructure is so out of date. Our northern “suburbs” have exploded with construction over the last 10 years as. Population has doubled if not more. But we’re driving on the same two lane highways that were built who know when. From the interstate at Ky state line going south for 30 miles just up to the city limits, it’s a two lane highway, dominated by trucks driving in the left lane. For our location 30 miles north of Nashville, it’s an hour commute during rush hour. Even more if you work in the Brentwood area. And not really friendly, I’d say more cordial. You won’t get real conversation with locals. Good luck on that. I’m a traveller, so I talk to people everywhere I go. Many other places are much friendlier than here-even California! Food and utilities are very expensive. Real estate is still fairly reasonable in some outlying rural or commercial areas. But lots of still wide open land. And very pretty landscapes.

I've been to 42 states, D.C., P.R., and 7 other countries. I moved state to state 8 times in the past ten years, usually for employment. The last move I made was from Long Island, NY to Nashville in 2022. I love it, and I'm not leaving! It is the most polite place I have ever been to. I feel accepted here, and nearly everyone I work with is extremely kind to me. It was a polar opposite for me in my Long Island Job, where I was being slandered, gaslit, and treated with a ridiculous amount of animosity. Nashville is the place for me.
