In this video I show how we installed ground screws to take the oak posts that will support part of the roof and the deck frame.

Hi Del the screws a great I recently had 20 put in for a new workshop by Gil from Gravitas mine were about 1250 long you wouldn't want to be screws those in by hand . Loved the detail on the Oak posts makes a lot of difference ,enjoyed all the content thanks.

Please keep the detail coming, it’s really interesting to see real world carpentry. It’s also nice to hear someone else apart from my dad, who was a carpenter/joiner, and so subsequently me saying it, say “taking the arras off” ! Those screws look interesting, I wonder if an impact wrench would work for screwing them in most of the way. Really liked the extra details in this part.

Hi there.🖐 There's no way a impact driver of any size would push these screws in. The turning force we used to get them all the way in was HUGE. The proper insertion machines must have some amazing gearing to wind them in.💪 Thanks for your comment and for watching.😎

On another note I have just this week gone self employed and started my own Carpentry and Joinery business after years of doubt. That's amazing Adam that I may have inspired you a little into taking the plunge into working for yourself.🤩 I made the jump in 1992 and, although scary at the time, I've never looked back.😎 Laser wise, I've had the DeWalt Dw087 since 2007 and its been brilliant for internal work. Its just a little out now, so I jumped on the newer DCE0881R on special offer from Screwfix @£149.00. I have not used any other brand of laser so have nothing to compare it to, but it works perfectly and is cheap to buy.😎 Best of luck with your new venture, you wont regret it.👊

Not only the camera setup but the hours and hours after editing the vid afterwards! The actual job is more important, so do what you have to. Any amount of footage is MUCH APPRECIATED.

The torque required is MASSIVE to get these screws all the way in, and I suspect its only very low geared insertion machines that are capable of such a task. 💪 The screw came First Base ground screws. They supply their installation partners but are starting to introduce a DIY insertion range. 😎 Cheers.

Hi Romperstomper. Its the DCH133N, and its a beast of a drill. Its as powerful as my old and faithful 2KG Bosch, but obviously cordless.👍 Hand wound ground screws are new on me, but these really did save a lot of time and mess.😎 Thanks for your great comment and for watching.👍 (I'm off to spin round a broom stick with a pint in my hand🤢)

@@TomsTimmervan Hi there. It's a new Laser. Screwfix have them on special offer at the moment for £149. My old DeWalt 087 laser has gone a little out of level, so it was a no brainer to go for the rechargeable one.😎 Cheers.

Hi Neil. I haven't really gone over to DeWalt. I bought a couple of Flexvolt tools and then just replaced a couple of others due to having the DeWalt batteries. I've had a DeWalt laser for years and it served me well. The new laser was on offer so I had it. I've got plenty of Makita and some Milwaukee tools aswel.🤩 Thanks for your comment.😎

I find those bacho are Useless now they were good as sandvik. Spear and Jackson red and black for me if I use a hand saw now.

Thanks for the recommendation Dez. I kinda just buy the Bacho saws on outpilot, and agree, they are not what they used to be.🤠 Cheers.
