I think this creator has even said that before. It should have probably been like Here's Negan and been at the end of the season. Or even has someone else here said, probably just an episode or 2 later wouldn't have been as bad, just bad placement for a great episode

i hated this episode when i first watched it. simply because it switched away from our main group. looking back i think this episode was beautiful for giving morgan a complete arc, it gave us so many callbacks and revelations to other moments, i feel it was overshadowed simply because of the timing of its release. looking back, i actually would say it’s within my top ten favourite episodes simply for its justice to morgan.

This was probably one of the most touching episodes in the series for me. I know people won't agree, but I kinda like the slow down from the whole action packed Alexandria plot. It felt like a breather to watch it. It was emotional, touching, meaningful and beatiful. It not only contributed to the lore of Morgan, but it felt actually really touching to me in real life, I felt at peace watching it. :)

@ThisIsTheWayfarer
@ThisIsTheWayfarer 6 ай бұрын
@@doggolovescheese1310it’s more popular now but I think it was considered controversial at the time so Thrifty’s not wrong. You’ve gotta remember that during a live viewing of the walking dead, you got one episode per week and every 8 episodes, they’d break for like 4 months until the next 8. If you watched this live during the sheer insanity of what was happening at Alexandria at the time it may have felt a bit underwhelming given you had to wait a week for the next one. Personally though, I loved this episode when it released and still do, it’s got a beautiful mini story to follow even if it was a diversion from the action at Alexandria. I can just see why some people were disappointed and I totally agree with Thrifty’s conclusion that it was controversial at the time.

Easily one of the best scores of all the Walking Dead. The music not only fits perfectly for the theme and tone of the episode, but in general its one of the few walking dead episodes that still makes me burst into tears. I also like the perspective from this episode. So often in zombie apocalypse media characters almost always choose to kill others who have wrong them, where as here Morgan chose the path of peace. Hell, Aikido basically states to never kill anyone, no matter how evil they are, which in the apocalypse is a pretty ballsy move since everything and everyone could and would kill you

My thought for the group's Crighton Dallas was Alpha. The Governor seemed like a normal guy with a wife and daughter before the apocalypse but Alpha seemed like she was pretty bad even early on. That being said, I don't think there is meant to be one specific person necessarily. If anything I feel like it more so suggests that the vast majority of bad people aren't truly evil like you mentioned.

The ‘Here’s not Here’ episode is one of my favourite episodes of all time, just like the first ever episode of season 1. It had me hooked and I could relate to the character. What Morgan said in fear the walking dead season 4 “I lose people, and then I lose myself” really hit me because as humans it’s the way of life, you lose people and then you lose a part of yourself because those people you lost, shaped who you are as a person. Morgan lost his wife and his son and that drove him to insanity, well not fully insane. It’s one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the series.

Honestly felt like yellowjackets. They do thus all the time. For example on season 2, ep 4 iirc, where at the end it is implied that adult Taissa is going to seek out Van, and after waiting the whole first season and nearly half of the second we were about to find out if Van was still alive and then instead of following up from that immediately, and jumping forward to their potential reunion, Tai spent the entire episode -roughly spanning TWO DAYS- on the road, driving, WALKING and hitchhiking her way to Van. They kept us on edge the entire episode, thinking we woukd find out every time we saw Taissa, only for her to just change her mode of transport. She took someone's car and drove all night in a trance. Then when she ran out of gas she decided to WALK across the state. Then eventually she hitchhiked onto the world's slowest truck and when she finally got to where she was heading, the episode cuts after two lines. And infuriatingly the entire next episode we barely get any of the exposition we so sorely need. Like what happened to them? Why did they drift away? We only find out if Van is alive. I'm trying not to spoil anything so being as vague as possible but basically this was TORTURE. It wasnt just one filler episode until we found out if this main character was alive; it was one and a half seasons! 😭

I would say for Morgan, though I haven’t seen fear The Walking Dead, I would say just in the main walking dead show his Creighton Dallas Wilton was Jared because like Eastman someone he cared for was killed though not for the same reasons but after that happened. Jared was not punished really at all and Morgan wanted him to suffer clearly because he gave up all life is precious and kills him by holding him in place and letting him get his back and neck eaten by walkers. Just like Eastman tortured Creighton Dallas Wilton, by starving him to death Morgan kills him the somewhat Opposite Way, by getting him eaten. Perhaps a poor take but the theory if you would call it that I guess sounded good in my head.😂😂😂

The episode is great but the placement of it is beyond stupid by having it right after Glenn's fakeout death. It should've been the season premiere since season 5 ended with Rick and Morgan finally reuniting. But since Walking Dead is on a cable network, they need to have all the season premiers and finales be exciting for the sake of ratings regardless of whether or not the narrative suffers as a result. We see the negative effects of this again at the end of the season with the Negan cliffhanger.

You’re absolutely right. The governor was a good man with a very very dark side lurking inside him all it took was a lawless world for him to break. I can see the governor being a normal suburban dad with a office job and a casual life but probably held lots of resentment and anger inside him and he didn’t let it come out until the world ended. The governor’s wife died in a car crash before the apocalypse but he still kept somewhat of his sanity probably for his daughter but once his daughter got bite he turned to the dark side when he realized he can act out his evil in a world with the police, no rules, no consequences, survival of the fittest.

It's possible I will end up giving too much credit to the writers here however I have recently undergone cognitive processing therapy for PTSD and 3 of the major symptoms you look for in PTSD are 1. Dreams and flashbacks of the traumatic event. 2. Feeling like you're in the event again and 3. Having a physical response like you're in it again. (this can be a racing heart, sweaty palms or even behaving like you are) so ironically if Morgan IS having flashbacks to such a degree he's behaving like he's in the situation again telling himself "Here's not here" is a good thing. He's trying to remind himself he's not in that situation.

I love this episode, the writing and character interaction is up there with seasons 1 & 2, and I think it compliments season 6 really well. It's a shame that the only real reason to dislike this episode is that it interrupts the pacing of the season because that problem literally only existed for one week back in 2015. Looking back, it's really good that they took their time to thoroughly develop one of the most important and interesting characters currently in the show, and it only saddens me more that they basically gave up on Morgan as a character in season 8. It's not like the pacing issue would even have been that bad if they didn't end the previous episode with Glenn "dying"

So i wouldnt say necessarily that the governor is evil but instead was someone created amidst the chaos. If you read the woodbury book it accurately shows his transformation from this incredibly timid guy to the man we see in the show and also the fact that in the books the governor isnt really phillip but instead adopted his brothers name to become who he was in order to survive because it him that got penny killed as well as his brother. The governor is honestly one of the best descriptions of what people do in order to survive and lead others and honestly the governor is a mirror imagine of how rick started out as well.

I used to actually hate this episode skipping it every time I do my rewatch of the series, but after watching this analysis i have mad respect for the episode your breakdown of the episode was beautiful and i definitely love this episode for it's meaning and message.

Man this just reminds me of how good TWD used to be. I quit watching after they killed Carl, right when they just made Karl likeable and cool and layered. Coral deserved better.

Yeah the awkward placement/pacing wasn't great, but I actually really enjoyed the episode when it first aired. My siblings were more irritated about it when it was the first few minutes and it became obvious the episode wasn't directly continuing the past episode cliffhanger, but over the course of the episode they also enjoyed it and liked the hook at the end tying it back into the main story line.

This is one of two episodes I dislike out of the whole show. This and the Tara episode from season 7 are 2 episodes I can’t stand. Even upon rewatching, they’re my least favorite episodes from the whole show.

Being able to binge watch Season 6 makes it my favourite but when it was airing week to week then the long break and cliffhangers makes the season so unlikable as a fan, The Walking Dead works better as Netflix type binge series to me

I liked this episode on rewatch, after rearranging the order I watched it 😂. The one thing I can't stand about it though was that it introduced one of the single dumbest subplots of the entire show: "All life is precious." Bruhhh, Morgan. Dude. Stop it. I kind of get what they were **trying** to do given Morgan's violent past, but after 5.5 seasons, we all knew that "all life is precious" was just a ridiculous philosophy in this world. It felt like a way to introduce artificial tension to the story by making Morgan endanger everyone by refusing to kill obvious threats. I felt like the show was just jerking me around at that point. Season 6 was full of terrible blunders that finally pushed me to my breaking point: "all life is precious," which led to Morgan not killing the Wolf who then ended up attacking Alexandria during the plot to lure the walker horde away; the idiotic plan to lead the massive walker horde away from Alexandria (yeah, there's no way **that** could backfire 🙄) rather than kill the walkers one at a time, slowly over the course of several days while they were in a controlled environment stuck in the quarry; Rick acting as if that was the ONLY way the quarry walkers could be dealt with, with the show insisting that it was the only way they could be dealt with, even though Rick thought about solutions for all of 15 minutes; Glenn's fakeout death, only to kill him a few episodes later; everything with Denise, one of the least interesting characters they tried to force on us; the extremely contrived storyline of the Wolf that Morgan refused to kill, someone the show reinforced was pure evil, all the sudden becoming good in the span of 20 seconds to save Denise?? 😂😂😂; in general, focusing way too much on characters no one cared about (didn't they give Tara a whole episode before revealing Glenn's fate?); other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting; and finally, the Negan cliffhanger. After the season 7 premiere, and episode 2 about just Daryl in prison at the Savior compound, I gave up on the show for good, and was very happy with that decision.

I never got to watch any of this show as it was airing, I binged the whole thing a year after it ended. With that in mind, when I got to this episode I thought it was one of the best in the entire show. I was not only perfectly fine with having to wait an episode’s worth of time to get back to the main plot, but I was so interested in what changed Morgan that this was an episode I wanted to see for the last three seasons and didn’t know it

The episode definitely breaks the mold. An hour long episode in middle of season is unconventional. But it really is phenomenal. Eastman's character is incredibly unique and so emotionally powerful. Lynch crafted an unforgettable performance. What I love about The Walking Dead is how it seems to reference classic genres (like westerns). This episode reminded me of some kungfu movie from the 70s or 80s. It is very philosophical in its approach and had a contrasting tone from most of the episodes. But it did fit because of the moral/logical/survival struggle that is so prevalent in the main characters.

You know what pisses me off the idea of Varients in S11. If they can climb walls then they can definitely pull Glen off the dumpster or pull him from under it. (Eg Rick under the tank in S1) Its just really annoying that they implemented in so late on because now so so so so so much doesn't make sense in show.

This episode was GREAT. It just wasn’t GREAT at the time that it was televised where you had to wait a week between episodes, so people got pissed off by being kept on this weeks-long “razor’s edge” in regards to what happened to Glenn plus what was happening with Rick and the main group. I guarantee someone who didn’t watch Season 6 when it aired and was able to binge-watch the episodes on Netflix probably didn’t even think there was a problem.

I swear people act like toddlers when it comes to the show and I don't get it. I guess it's just how bad people are getting in the USA especially with the constant need for serotonin and the impulsivity and people just don't have self-control they just complain about everything no matter which way it goes. And strangely they want that crazy video game type of thing when it comes to this show and that's why so many of them didn't like fear The walking Dead but I absolutely freaking love that show. Fear The walking Dead had a lot more good people they encountered not all the depressing and stressful constant enemies to fight with somebody constantly dying. Except when they killed the southern genteelman named John. That was rough He was an amazing character and I would have liked to see him go to the end especially with June that was the best love story in all of the walking Dead universe It was just amazing. And June never got to redeem herself after taking off, besides when she killed Virginia which was very necessary. Although she was a good villain but I'm like keeping negan around they just killed her off which I think was a great story for June to redeem herself. But killing off a main kind of hurts the show.

How is it possible that Morgan cant find the middle ground where he kills only when truly necessary. Its really frustrating to watch him. He's either extremely morally good or extremely chaotic evil. The undead apocalypse has broken his way of processing logic, even more broken than Alpha and the whisperers. And thats saying something when the sanity benchmark is Aplha.

You know, to do with evil, born with a bad brain, and lost along the way I think those actually work for any of the shows villains, for instance I'll use three of the biggest as examples, the governor(evil, psychopath), Negan(obviously lost along the way), Alpha(born with a bad brain, now I know the argument that Alpha is evil and just a psychopath,I think there is tons of proof that she's always been like that, even before the apocalypse, expecially based on the tales episode with her, where she mentions she killed her dad at age 10(or somewhere around that age, I cant remember the exact age) which impies she's been that way even before the apocalypse and the apocalypse just amplified how monstrous she always was.)

Okay so im CURRENTLY reading the walking dead, rise of the governor, so i may be wrong but i dont think the governor is entirely evil... Even in the show it shows that he lost his daughter and i always thought there had to be more to him than just a crazed killer... someone can correct me if im wrong, i dont mind spoilers for the books :)
