Wind, set and forget. This is my first manual wind watch and I love the feel of a connection when I wind it before wearing. The reason I buy watches is two fold. And couldn’t agree more about buying a watch as a store of value (brand dependent of course). When I do shower though I ALWAYS carefully place it on something soft NOT the bare countertop. I also make sure the toilet lid is down which is nearby hahaha. They get great fun out of this for some reason. Also the steam helps clean watch and I use s mirco fiber cloth immediately after. You would think with all this care I may have a Patek or something but my modest earnings only allow a SEAMASTER prof 2016 CERAMIC. So far....🤣

Couple more for you: finding new niches that lie vacant. “All I need to complete the collection is a blue dial / two hand / ultra thin / square etc”. I called time at 10, and already realize I haven’t got a rectangular piece..

You're so right I'm guilty of at least 8 of these habits. The funniest habit is pausing Netflix to check out the watch a actor is wearing. My wife rolls her eyes.

This is so funny...all the points you mentioned I am guilty of. The funny thing is that I cannot actually understand how or when I became a watch snob...I only have 8 watches, and I love all of them...but I'm also constantly looking for other vintage watches...and now Ive bought a brand new Yachtmaster...how the hell did that happen?? Thanks for these rambles, most entertaining ..love 'em, cheers.

I totally do almost all of these. I love telling the story of being in Vale with my wife, brother in law and sister in law, both of which are not into watches. We are having a coffee outside and this guy walks by with a Platona. In Vale...no way was that one a fake.:)

My watches are associated with a places and times when I purchased them. One of my favourite watches is one I purchased on a nice holiday to the USA. I am sure the ambiance and feelings associated with the holiday contribute to how I feel about and appreciate my watch. It is definitely a keeper.
